Resident Evil 4's PS5, PS4 Sales in the UK Leave Xbox to the Los Ganados

What we should be saying is it’s great to see RE4 do so well in terms of sales and being talked about with GOTY by some.

That's actually lower on ps than what I usually see. It's a more westernized game tho.

The UK is such a weird market. 15% on PC? I really wonder if that truly counts all digital sales or only digital codes sold via retailers.

PlayStation almost have 50% more copies sold than Xbox that’s not good for Xbox at all.

And I was told xbox players generally buy more copies digital over playstation and that total sales of multiplatform games were closer between them, now I know that was just copium.

That's what happens when everyone on Xbox just waits for everything to come to Gamepass. I can't imagine very many people buy games on that platform anymore. Shot yourselves in the foot with that one Microsoft.

@ATaco I don't doubt gamepass has harmed game sales but it's also to do with sony having sold over double the amount of consoles xbox has, so there's more players to buy the games on playstation so multiplatform games will always sell best on playstation.

@Tharsman Apparently PC gaming isnt as big as you might think outside of China. If a game doesnt appeal to China, like most console games, it wont find big success. Just take a look at PubG, CS and all these topdown games. They are the typical PC games and theyre all appeal to the Chinese market.
Especially in Europe and NA - console is king.

Why not celebrate a games success instead of fanboy baiting headlines like this? Not really a good look tbh.

65% is about expected, there is more ps4 and 5s around, did anyone really expect anything else? We usually see higher numbers before digital is included, so it's no suprise and confirms the numbers are closer when they are included

For some reason it's cheaper on the PlayStation store at £54.99 where on Xbox store it's £57.98 for the standard edition.

Game of the Year is gonna be wild this year. Top rated games this far are a remaster of Metroid, a remake of Dead Space and a remake of Resident Evil 4.

@UltimateOtaku91 how is it copium if that is literally what has happened? As @GodOfCapcom said it’s usually higher on PS, we see figures like 87% etc which sets off a Push Square Circle Jerk. But this time digital is actually included so it’s down to 65% on PS…

@K1LLEGAL I've been told multiple times on this site and purexbox that xbox is primarily digital and once digital sales had been added it would be evenly split or close to.

Actually, 20% for Xbox is not bad at all considering that the userbase was trained to get games with GP subscription.
I think that a whole lot more % of its userbase bought the game, mainly because PS gamers also bought other games, like GOW and TLOU.

Also i’ve seen some of those comments and i’ve myself asked for digital to be included. I don’t think anyone expects Xbox to outsell or match PlayStation when there are more PS5s sold and 100million PS4s. The point is the gap is lower than reported, which can be true and is in this case. If they just reported digital sales and not physical; that would be an incomplete picture too.

Honestly I would have thought Xbox share would be way lower, so good for them. 20% is not marginal by any means.

@K1LLEGAL is usually around the 87% as you say, because PC isn't normally included. Take PC out and the percentage is obviously higher than 65%.
Yes there are probably more ps4/5 in the UK but I don't think it's a massive difference. Where I work most game on xbox.
Like you said, it's good to have digital included(wish it was all the time), but I do think it shows xbox gamers are buying less games, GP is conditioning certain users to just wait for titles to drop into the service. I remember when elden ring came out and we were all taking about it at work and the first thing one of the xbox lads said was "is it coming to gamepass"?

People talking about how many more PlayStation Consoles have been sold than Xbox need to uderstand the UK is actually Xboxs second strongest market, and with the Series X/S actually tracking behind the Xbox One In the USA right now, the UK might actually be the Series X/S strongest market, relatively speaking.

The software disparity highlighted here is probably larger in other territories. This is relavent for measuring the impact of subscription services and not just Console War nonsense

@Zemo55 I can understand in some situation Gamepass is great for those tight on a budget. But Gamepass is truly becoming a cancer that has also started affecting the PC market. I’m consider the odd man out in my group for still buying game instead of relying on Gamepass

Remember folks…it’s only video games, let’s not get crazy with console wars… at the end of an article about PlayStation sales with a heading that makes sure to encourage us to collectively find inner peace in the comments as we get to once again laugh at lack of sales on the Xbox platform…and find comfort in the dream that all this will surely result in games soon skipping xbox and giving PlayStation exclusives. Because we’re not at all worried about what Xbox are doing.

@TheGrizMan I can't speak for Nintendo Life but Pure Xbox definitely does do console war, it's usually a bit more subtle but it's definitely there.

Am I not right in thinking that when it comes to the Xbox, the player-base is something like 70% PlayStation, 30% Xbox. So if PlayStation has 40% more gamers, doesn't it stand to reason that considerably more copies of the game would be sold on that platform?

Instead of continuing to fuel the console wars, we should be saying well done Capcom on releasing an excellent game that has sold incredibly well...

It's unsurprising it's a Japanese game it's gonna sell more on a Japanese console, the real winners are those like me who wait for games to go on sale, not paying full price when the state of these big releases for years has been abysmal.

People still complaining about game pass i see, same people who were foaming at the mouth in anticipation when they thought ps plus tiers would be the ps equivalent of it

@Deityjester no one is "complaining" about it. They simply point out it's a terrible business strategy. It would be terrible for Sony, too, but great for those with a ps+ subscription.

I think we may be using the term "clickbait" for any article on the internet we don't agree with. If the headline of this article read: "Hunter Biden's laptop has proof Sony faked its RE:4 Remake sales numbers" and it was on the MSN home page - CLICKBAIT. But if I'm already on this website and see an article with the name of a game I'm already interested in - not really CLICKBAIT.

Loving the gold coins next to Leon's smiley face, I see what you did there😉. It is a great game though no matter where its being played on. Still can't believe I'm praising it with how much of a love hate relationship the original is to me. I think it's the density in graphics of these latest consoles somehow adding to the overall more scary feels of this remake over its original

@nomither6 Stuff like the dualsense and other things like that come from console and console standardization. Not PC being fragmented. The limit of consoles is also what breaks limits.

u say console standardization, but when it comes to everything else beyond the controller like software, hardware , etc , console doesn’t even hold a candle or even a spark to PC . the games themselves have standards set on a PC that they’re made on before being compressed and downgraded to the console it’s going to run on.

@MayaMousavi those are optimization issues which is understandable because PC is broad while console is a closed system . devs don’t have a choice when it comes to consoles
