@jess3a3 My favorite addition to the gameplay is the ability to go prone. That combined with tall and short grass made me feel like I was actively hunting my enemies, which is not something I could say in the first game. If the first TLOU had an achilles heal then it was definitely the stealth gameplay. So I'm glad that was greatly improved upon in the sequel. The gameplay overall feels much more dynamic now and a lot less 2 dimensional
@GKO900 You say that yet here we are in 2020 and we have two open world games in the form of Genshin Impact and Immortals Fenyx Rising which very clearly take inspiration from Breath of the Wild. Is it really unfair to compare them when they share mechanics and art style to an almost uncanny extent? This goes back to those who get their feathers rustled whenever someone uses the term Souls-like. The ones that are completely hellbent on denying Dark Souls influence on the game industry. I'm sorry but pretending these games don't influence the medium in some shape or form is like burying your head in the sand and ignoring the world around you
@GKO900 You don't like BotW that's fair enough but I'm not really talking about opinions here. You can dislike BotW while also recognizing that it attempted to shake up the open world formula. Many other open world games like Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima and Immortals are good open world games in their own right, but they do very little to move the needle forward for the genre. Now again, I'm not saying BotW is necessarily better than those games, just that it was a bit more ambitious in terms of it's actual game design
@GKO900 You make it sound as if BotW brought nothing new to the table. BotW borrows from the likes of Skyrim but it also took a more organic, play at your own pace approach. I don't think anyone is calling BotW the first-ever open world game, it just took a pre established genre and injected some fresh ideas into it. Which it doesn't seem like the same can be said about Immortals Fenyx Rising
It wouldn't be my personal pick but these awards aren't exactly handed out based on my personal preference. And TLOU2 is certainly not a bad choice. Well deserved
In terms of just PS exclusives it's 2020. When you add third party into the mix it's 2018. 2018 had Monster Hunter World AND Red Dead Redemption 2. There really isn't a third party game this year that can compete with either of those, except for maybe Cyberpunk. But the jury's still out on that one
@NEStalgia I just meant they're similar in the sense they are both mediocre launch titles. They're games that you buy at launch because you want something to play on your new console, and not because they're actually any good
I've got to say I am thoroughly impressed with the PS5 so far. Playing games at 4K 60 fps is truly a transformative experience. It almost makes me understand what the PC snobs have been going on about all these years. The PS5 feels like a true generational leap. Where as the PS4 felt like more of an incremental improvement over the PS3
@TG16_IS_BAE My PS5 should be arriving in a few days. I'm good, lol. I'd rather wait a little and hear the tracks in the context of the game itself, and judge accordingly. I believe that is me being more honest with myself 😉
@TG16_IS_BAE Well again, based off of the pre release tracks, none of them sounded "loud" or "annoying". Not to me anyway. But I will reserve full judgement until I actually play the game. I'm certainly not going to spoil the experience for myself by listening to the tracks early to prove some argument
@TG16_IS_BAE You can't, which is why I only quantified the tracks that I've listened to. As I clearly stated. The rest of the OST could be different, but based off of what I've heard so far I'm feeling very optimistic
@TG16_IS_BAE Every song I've heard so far sounds very faithful to the original. I haven't played the remake yet, mind you, but everything from the trailers sounds pretty spot on. I think this is just a case of "change bad"
@TG16_IS_BAE Remember back in 2006 when everyone freaked out that Twilight Princess didn't have an orchestrated soundtrack? Weird to think that now, in 2020, it's considered a bad thing to have a fully orchestrated soundtrack. Time is weird.
@Kratos-sensei Obviously I was referring to the critic score. Lol. Metacritic user scores are worthless, Games get review bombed for the most trivial, and petty reasons. New Horizons is sitting at a 90, while the second highest (New Leaf) is sitting at an 88. Not too far behind but still, NH is the highest rated AC game
@Kratos-sensei Those are very cherry picked reasons. What about all the great stuff that New Horizons added, like terraforming, crafting, or the ability to place furniture anywhere on your island? I'd take any of those features over a coffee shop. And it's clearly not the worst AC ever, It has the highest metacritic score out of any AC ever. Metacritic isn't the end all be all in determining quality but again, you said THE WORST. I don't think THE WORST AC would score so high from so many different critics. And you don't have to like New Horizons, that's not what I'm driving at here, but maybe don't make grand statements like "It's a bs choice for GOTY" or "It's the worst AC" It's incredibly hyperbolic
It might be lame but....I think I'm gonna run the Royal. It was the starting class I picked for my very first playthrough of Demon's Souls back on PS3. It'll be nostalgic
Animal Crossing has my personal vote for game of the year. Crafting and terraforming were excellent additions, easily making New Horizons the best in the series
I also wouldn't be mad if Last of Us 2 or Nioh 2 took it. Both great games as well
@evan23 I think a console is a BIT different. But yeah you're right, you could make that argument. Especially considering most big next gen titles are also cross gen (with a few exceptions like Demon's Souls). I imagine most people won't even pick up a PS5 or Series X until late 2021/early 2022
@evan23 I still just don't see the point though. Technology is always advancing, right now the big thing is HDMI 2.1, next year it will be something else. And then again the next year. Trying to keep "up to date" with technology is a fools errand
Yeesh, everyone is making such a big fuss over HDMI 2.1 when most games won't even run at 120 fps in the first place. It's really not worth the hassle or money to upgrade to a HDMI 2.1 compatible TV if you already own a 4K TV. 60 fps is going to be the standard
@TimeDelayedGamer 100% agree. Kind of defeats the purpose of the game entirely. Others may disagree but FromSoftware would have never included a feature like this

Re: All the Winners at The Game Awards 2020
@Darten For another safe, ubisoft-style open world game I'd say player's choice is the best GoT could do
Re: November 2020 NPD: PS5 Sets New US Hardware Launch Record, But Can't Beat Nintendo Switch
@2cents It also costs more to manufacture than a Switch so it all evens out

Well it's a good thing that the actual game of the year isn't determined by public vote

Demon's Souls by a country mile

I never doubted the functionality of the controller, merely it's design. And even that has grown on me

This game is the "Ryse: Son of Rome" or "Knack" of this console generation

@Giancarlothomaz It's gonna be really funny when AC actually does win and all of you "hardcore" gamers have a literal meltdown.

Some of you have said this already but oh well I'm going to be redundant and echo y'all anyway.
Any 3D platformer that isn't Mario arbitrarily gets like 10 or more points knocked off of thier metacritic score
Re: Demon's Souls (PS5) - PlayStation's Best Ever Launch Game
@JimmyP Yes correct. And on an unrelated note Dark Souls Remastered is a remake
Re: Demon's Souls (PS5) - PlayStation's Best Ever Launch Game

Re: Demon's Souls PS5's First Review Pours on the Praise
@TG16_IS_BAE What about all the new character models, assets, renders, and textures? Those all just came out of thin air then?

@Saucymonk So you'll be playing it then?

I've seen other outlets say 6-7 hours for Miles Morales.
Is there a particular reason for this discrepancy?
Re: Report Suggests PS5 Won't Support 1440p Output
Okay....I'm confused.
Doesn't Demon's have a performance mode that runs at 1440p? So what, did they just lie about that or am I missing something super obvious here?
