Re: Ghost of Tsushima Wins 'Player's Voice' at The Game Awards

Tchunga

@jess3a3 My favorite addition to the gameplay is the ability to go prone. That combined with tall and short grass made me feel like I was actively hunting my enemies, which is not something I could say in the first game. If the first TLOU had an achilles heal then it was definitely the stealth gameplay. So I'm glad that was greatly improved upon in the sequel. The gameplay overall feels much more dynamic now and a lot less 2 dimensional

Re: Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5) - Formulaic Fun Takes Ancient Greece by Storm

Tchunga

@GKO900 You say that yet here we are in 2020 and we have two open world games in the form of Genshin Impact and Immortals Fenyx Rising which very clearly take inspiration from Breath of the Wild. Is it really unfair to compare them when they share mechanics and art style to an almost uncanny extent? This goes back to those who get their feathers rustled whenever someone uses the term Souls-like. The ones that are completely hellbent on denying Dark Souls influence on the game industry. I'm sorry but pretending these games don't influence the medium in some shape or form is like burying your head in the sand and ignoring the world around you

Re: Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5) - Formulaic Fun Takes Ancient Greece by Storm

Tchunga

@GKO900 You don't like BotW that's fair enough but I'm not really talking about opinions here. You can dislike BotW while also recognizing that it attempted to shake up the open world formula. Many other open world games like Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima and Immortals are good open world games in their own right, but they do very little to move the needle forward for the genre. Now again, I'm not saying BotW is necessarily better than those games, just that it was a bit more ambitious in terms of it's actual game design

Re: Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS5) - Formulaic Fun Takes Ancient Greece by Storm

Tchunga

@GKO900 You make it sound as if BotW brought nothing new to the table. BotW borrows from the likes of Skyrim but it also took a more organic, play at your own pace approach. I don't think anyone is calling BotW the first-ever open world game, it just took a pre established genre and injected some fresh ideas into it. Which it doesn't seem like the same can be said about Immortals Fenyx Rising

Re: Talking Point: Was 2020 PlayStation's Best Ever Year?

Tchunga

In terms of just PS exclusives it's 2020. When you add third party into the mix it's 2018. 2018 had Monster Hunter World AND Red Dead Redemption 2. There really isn't a third party game this year that can compete with either of those, except for maybe Cyberpunk. But the jury's still out on that one

Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?

Tchunga

I've got to say I am thoroughly impressed with the PS5 so far. Playing games at 4K 60 fps is truly a transformative experience. It almost makes me understand what the PC snobs have been going on about all these years. The PS5 feels like a true generational leap. Where as the PS4 felt like more of an incremental improvement over the PS3

Re: Demon's Souls PS5's First Review Pours on the Praise

Tchunga

@TG16_IS_BAE Well again, based off of the pre release tracks, none of them sounded "loud" or "annoying". Not to me anyway. But I will reserve full judgement until I actually play the game. I'm certainly not going to spoil the experience for myself by listening to the tracks early to prove some argument

Re: The Game Awards 2020 Nominees Will Be Announced Next Week

Tchunga

@Kratos-sensei Obviously I was referring to the critic score. Lol. Metacritic user scores are worthless, Games get review bombed for the most trivial, and petty reasons. New Horizons is sitting at a 90, while the second highest (New Leaf) is sitting at an 88. Not too far behind but still, NH is the highest rated AC game

Re: The Game Awards 2020 Nominees Will Be Announced Next Week

Tchunga

@Kratos-sensei Those are very cherry picked reasons. What about all the great stuff that New Horizons added, like terraforming, crafting, or the ability to place furniture anywhere on your island? I'd take any of those features over a coffee shop. And it's clearly not the worst AC ever, It has the highest metacritic score out of any AC ever. Metacritic isn't the end all be all in determining quality but again, you said THE WORST. I don't think THE WORST AC would score so high from so many different critics. And you don't have to like New Horizons, that's not what I'm driving at here, but maybe don't make grand statements like "It's a bs choice for GOTY" or "It's the worst AC" It's incredibly hyperbolic

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

Tchunga

@evan23 I think a console is a BIT different. But yeah you're right, you could make that argument. Especially considering most big next gen titles are also cross gen (with a few exceptions like Demon's Souls). I imagine most people won't even pick up a PS5 or Series X until late 2021/early 2022

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

Tchunga

@evan23 I still just don't see the point though. Technology is always advancing, right now the big thing is HDMI 2.1, next year it will be something else. And then again the next year. Trying to keep "up to date" with technology is a fools errand

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

Tchunga

Yeesh, everyone is making such a big fuss over HDMI 2.1 when most games won't even run at 120 fps in the first place. It's really not worth the hassle or money to upgrade to a HDMI 2.1 compatible TV if you already own a 4K TV. 60 fps is going to be the standard
