@Rich33 FFS it is fine have you even played the game? I'm 40 hours in on a base PS5. Gorgeous graphics, great gameplay and even the plot isn't anything like the media is making out as their actually is one. I suspect the naysayers are either racist or have some weird agenda to put this game down. It could also be because there isn't any forced narrative or pandering to western ideals let alone a PC tick box. And yes you can punch various women in the face which even I was surprised they didn't patch out lol.
The hate for this game is comical and obviously from peeps who haven't played the thing. It is up there with Skyrim and Witcher 3 it's so good but for some bizarre reason get's slated. It is easily this year's E33 but guess because it's Korean haters gotta hate. Their loss as I'm having a blast on a puny base PS5 and apart from one crash in 40 hours no issues. Sure the controls at points could be explained better (chapter 4 grrr) but this is the GOTY so far nothing compares. People banging on about Requiem er no and I'm a survival horror fanatic sure it was a good time but the Subway of meals compared to CD's fine cuisine.
@Markatron84 It is bad, even though I had to recently spray WD40 into a stick drifted controller which fixed it I'm thinking I better get a new one but this isn't it. The camo one and the DS2 are the best lookers those new pop ones look cheap. Even though price wise they aren't. The Yotei one isn't too shabby not the rusty water one mind!
@Oram77 Think you should post a monkey magic type meme chief. Wish I could but not sure how the brew has taken me somewhat! Monkey is on Prime too now I think of it but those damn ads sheesh.
@The_Pixel_King The post I was replying to mentioned open world games though. I know the games aren't that similar although granted I could ride a horse better in reality than an Astra.
@LifeGirl I don't know, personally I found Day's Gone, Witcher 3 and every Bethesda title pre Starfield more enjoyable than any GTA not that I don't enjoy GTA. I attempted GTA5 on the PS5 a few weeks back and found it ropey although granted loved it on the PS4 but now think the hype is taking over the reality.
The problem I have with another new game plus run is the damn Keanu/Johnny storyline. Once you've seen it twice it's bad enough but for a third or forth run urghhh.
@Propaperpusher I gave it a go for a good few hours but stopped can't remember why as it was years ago. Tempted to retry it though perhaps it's like a fine wine and will sup better now...
@pharos_haven Playing Devil's Advocate it would have been far more original to have an actual Scottish protagnist (with an actual Scottish voice actor) rather than an American or Canadian tourist can't remember which the above is supposed to be. Scot's are very underrepresented in games in fact apart from Still Wakes The Deep I cannot think of another game where the cast/characters are predominantly Scottish.
@ErrantRob Same here, in fact CD has saved my wallet from doshing out for Starfield till a sale. Can't believe it scored higher than CD though, criminal.
If it wasn't for Crimson Desert I may have given LOTF a punt but at this rate not likely as all my high fantasy needs are sated with CD.
With the Tomb Raider remasters have they fixed or patched the damn awful control options since original release? Modern was so bad I had to use the original tank controls then gave up as frustration took over the nostalgia factor.
@GirlVersusGame True let alone Pearl Abyss have proven with CD they can fix issues within a few weeks of a game's release so Bethesda really don't have anymore excuses to constantly release bug ridden remasters. With Starfield I will only pick it up once reviews confirm it's in a playable state and to be honest CD is such a time sink we can all afford to wait.
5/10 ouch! I love the series but suspected as much coming from the team that gave us the franchise's biggest dud; Double Exposure. They should have let Don't Nod handle it as Lost Records proved they still know how to do this type of game. I'll still pick it up though once it's dirt cheap which may not be too long away.
Easily a GOTY contender, haven't been able to play anything else since it hit my drive. And that's on a base PS5. Might have a break when Pragmata drops but Starfield this Friday has no chance.
Crimson Desert all the way, even on a base PS5 (and a few patches later) it's easily a GOTY contender. Really thought RE9 was going to get that accolade but now not so sure.

Re: Huge Crimson Desert Updates Teased as Dev Plans Boss Fight Replays and Difficulty Settings
@lazarus11 Exactly, there seems to be this gaslighting role reversal about anyone praising this game. Guess they don't eat chicken either.

@DennisReynolds Seriously? You typing doesn't. Smirk.

Re: Huge Crimson Desert Updates Teased as Dev Plans Boss Fight Replays and Difficulty Settings
Barring a few teething issues GOTY easily. RE9 didn't stand a chance compared to this beast. Neither will Saros.

@LastNorth_16 Nah, thankfully some of us don't reside in the UK and can speak freely.

Re: Former Resident Evil, Witcher Devs Unite for a Stylish New Action Adventure Game on PS5
Gives me Beyond Good & Evil vibes with a dash of Fable graphics wise.

The Man with the Golden Bling more like it.

@LifeGirl Sounds like several world leaders.
One in particular currently springs to mind...
Re: 'CDPR Deserves a Lot of Credit': Tech Experts Praise Cyberpunk 2077's Anticipated PS5 Pro Mode
It's great for new players but having played it 3 times (including once on PS4!) they really need to give us new DLC.

@Rob_230 Wasn't that from TLOU2?
Re: Rumour: Naughty Dog 'Floated' the Idea of Uncharted 5 Before COVID
Hopefully Druckmann isn't involved this time round as his choices of late might sink the franchise.
Re: Rumour: Persona 1 and 2 Re-Release Hinted at by New Merchandise
Surely there is yet another version of Persona 5 they could grind some cash from before these two?
Re: Life Is Strange: Reunion (PS5) - Twee Mystery Finale Falls Flat
@Fartingale Luckily it wasn't a Korean game or virtual daggers would be drawn! Or handbags out more likely.

@RyPal Love the games but Aloy always reminds me of a hobbit.
Re: Game of the Month: Crimson Desert (March 2026)
31 hours in on the base PS5 the game is an absolute time sink but worth it. GOTY contender now surely?

Even though I'm intrigued enough to take a punt the fact they stopped attempting to fix the Oblivion remake is a concern.
