Developer Purple Ray Studio has just announced Koshmar: The Last Reverie, a promising-looking action adventure game that's coming to PC and consoles.

The studio is made up of industry veterans from across all kinds of teams, with past credits including the likes of Resident Evil Village, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Rainbow Six Extraction, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Outriders, and more.

That's quite the spread, and the team is focusing its pool of talent on this new action adventure with an emphasis on gothic, painterly visuals and engaging combat.

You play as Violet, a teenager with the ability to explore the realm of dreams and nightmares, which will make for some twisted and potentially dark environments.

You'll navigate her real world and her dreams throughout the game, exploring her home town, entering nightmares, solving puzzles, and earning new equipment.

With both roguelite and RPG elements, Koshmar sounds like a real mish-mash of ideas.

The combat is intended to be strategic and precise, and you'll also be able to equip various items to build Violet in various ways.

Exploring the city, there are story-driven areas, NPCs to interact with, side quests to take on, puzzles to solve, and more.

You'll also need to manage Violet's sanity, as this has both story and gameplay implications.

The game takes inspiration from a wide range of other games, with influences coming from the likes of Remnant: From the Ashes, Hades, Control, Lies of P, Alice: Madness Returns, and more.

It seems like a really interesting project, and we're definitely keen to see more. Hopefully it isn't too far away.
