Come on, I know there's fanboyism between fansboys but highest rated game of the year? It's got the same score as Zelda but the difference is Zelda has 146 reviews and BG3 only has 88. Technically Zelda is higher rated then.

It exists because it's an example of Ubisoft making something no one asked for and if the fans were racist, surely they would have rejected to the previous protagonist who was brown? @KaijuKaiser It's downgraded on PS5 too. If you really want to go by your logic, every console is "holding gaming back" simply because PC can run games on ultra settings and 140 fps or higher.

If you want games to be at the highest possible quality they can be, stop gaming on console full stop. You guys are really going on about 60 fps when that was avaliable years ago on PC.

@Jaz007 Not many people want VR though and if they did, you know Nintendo would jump on that and beat Sony at their own game. Metroid is fine on Nintendo. I don't know why so many are asking for Nintendo titles on PlayStation. There's more chance of Sony titles going to Xbox lol.

@MightyDemon82 lol not happening as far as game awards go. Tears of the Kingdom is already the highest rated game of all time on Open Critic. Final Fantasy games never even come close to a Zelda title and Spiderman 2 doesn't stand a chance either.

Half the games they've added were already on NOW. PS3 titles can only be streamed too. Also there's only several PS2 titles. Game Pass is still better. I unsubscribed from PS Plus's options long ago.

Game Pass is the only thing Xbox is doing right. Now if only they could release some actual good AAA games, then they might be able to compete with Sony and Nintendo lol.

@Areus Not Dark Souls or Demon's Souls? Both kick-started the genre of Soulslike games. Demon's Souls was the game that created that genre and Dark Souls popularised it.

Bloodborne and Elden Ring both came around much later to be considered industry influencing and just changed up the formula slightly of a genre that had already been established with Demon's and Dark Souls.

I think this list is about that. Games considered innovative and which inspired the industry.

Now as good as Bloodborne is, more people in the industry have been inspired by Dark Souls including its dark fantasy post apocalyptic medieval world. And well Elden Ring is just From's own continuation of that. It could easily have been called Dark Souls 4.

@nedbvai It's not cancelled though and actually looks pretty good. This game has been teased since 2015.

@NEStalgia The irony is Redfall was going to be a live service game too at one point. Lol Part of me wishes they kept it that way just to add more fuel to the fire of it being a terrible game.

@NEStalgia I was thinking the same earlier. I think the industry is not only getting too expensive but also uninspired in what they create. Maybe a crash would be a good thing.

@BlueBeemer EA isn't Bioware. He's literally saying Bioware's executives hated the writers. EA can be blamed for many things but Bioware's own bad writing? Not so much.

It's the same with how people get upset over some former defunct companies of EA, like Pandemic Studios for example, a company that put out several bad releases with bad gameplay and bad writing. That has everything to do with the game developers and writers.

@tameshiyaku Tbf when Capcom makes an RPG, it's normally something better than anything from Square or Sega. Dragon's Dogma is unique. Apparently every Square game ends up disappointing people but I suppose that's what happens when a company makes several of the same games every year. That's even worse than Activision or Ubisoft doing new CoD or AC titles every year.

@WallyWest Those are all PS4 games with the exception of Returnal which didn't even sell well. Oh and the two remakes of PS3 games, one of which didn't need one.

Microsoft ain't putting out anything good either. Seems Nintendo is really the only one winning in software.

Next generation for PlayStation and Xbox has been completely lackluster and I don't why people try to pretend otherwise. Right now, the majority of the games are just upgrades for PS4 and Xbox One games.

3 years in and PS5 is only going to have Spuderman at the end of it. Meanwhile Xbox is begging God for help. Maybe 2024 will finally be the start of next generation.

@TripleKing333 Metacritic can fix these problems with review bombers by requiring user reviews to have a minimal character limit and also adding an algorithm that deletes reviews that just says one word over and over again plus reviews that are copy and pasted.

You'll still get the odd reviewer doing terrible reviews but I'd wadger if they implemented a system like this, maybe with other factors to prevent review bombers, that would clean things up. Add in a report system too.

That would require Metacritic to actually do some work though so we know it won't happen.

@Magnus_Selene Bethesda hasn't been relevant for years lol. Their RPGs have been bad since 2006 too. Obsidian is hit or miss but they don't even have big franchises.

From Software RPG games will still release on PlayStation along with Capcom ones and whenever the next Deus Ex title is.

@R_Ryder Yeah that particular song just sounds awful with everything from the rapping to the melody. Can't say I'm all that impressed either. Just looks like a clone of Jet Set Radio but in higher graphics, some of the animations even look ripped straight from the game.

@NEStalgia Neither Elden Ring or Fenyx Rising improved on BOTW's formula and Fenyx was as big of a rip off of BOTW as Geshin was. Fenyx was also a failure. I seem to recall it being on sale for as low as £5 within a few months.

@Dodoo I thought we were past the days where ultra realistic graphics mattered in the first place. They could make this game look like real life itself, that still wouldn't deal with all the gameplay or design flaws and Tears of the Kingdom will still outsell the game and be considered "the greatest game of all time" like numerous Zelda titles before it.

Hell even Deus Ex 1 is still the better game with still far more advanced gameplay. Maybe CD Projekt should focus on making playable and good games because with how they're currently going, they remind me of Bethesda.

Nearly 3 years in and that's all we have? Even Switch has more exclusives coming out this year. Two big ones have already released with Fire Emblem Engage and Kirby. Then there's Zelda in May with Pikmin 4 and Metroid Prime 4 later in the year.

If Sony is this worried about no CoD destroying their platform, maybe they need more exclusives.

And they can't really complain about poor performing ports when they release crap ports to PC.

@Magnus_Selene Yeah I had no idea what those people were thinking. PS Vita might have been good but it failed financially.

Switch is also dominating the market for handheld and if you want a more powerful handheld, you'd go for the Deck which is already capable of playing all those Sony ports to PC.

It'll be dead on arrival then like all the PS3 games that are barely playable on PS Plus.
