Now they want to triple dip into people's wallets?? Ridiculous!
Atlus are greedy exploitative ***** regardless of the quality of their games. They did not offer an upgrade for Royal and forced people to rebuy the whole game. They always take the greediest path when it comes to make choices.

@Milktastrophe
Lol. On a serious note, The "Remake" was just a title, just like Rebirth is a title. All things indicate this is a sequel or reboot. They were just fooling people, making them think they were doing a remake. The events of the original FF7 and Advent Children have already taken place. The new trailer shows that characters are aware of Aerith's death in another timeline. They will just do whatever they want and wind it up in part 3.
@Constable_What Thank you for the detailed explanation. For some of us, English is our second language or we do not stay in touch with social media trends/memes so it is difficult to understand sometimes.
Terrible list. Several of the games are not even RPGs. Whereas several true RPGs are missing. Where is Witcher? Where is Dragon Age or Mass Effect? Persona 5? IMO an RPG is a game where you get to play the role of the protagonist by choosing how to explore, build your character or squad members, craft builds by choosing specific skills/gear, and make decisions that impact the story or game world. Of course, some games miss one or more of those qualities such as JRPGs rarely features decisions that impact the story or world but those qualities are what generally define an RPG.
Why is that a surprise for anyone? Does Netflix let you keep the movies you watch? Or does Gamepass lets you keep the games you play without actually buying them?
There is barely any difference. This is just a glorified remaster being sold for $70. FF7 Remake and Resident Evil 2 Remake are what true remakes look like.
No interest whatsoever. Seriously, Sony premier studios should create and reveal new AAA IPs for PS5. Do something different and unique like how Naughty Dog created Uncharted back during the PS3 era or how Guerilla created Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4. Enough Uncharteds, Last of Uss, and God of Wars. How about AAA JRPGs (Legend of Dragoon anyone?)?? An ambitious open world RPG? Scifi space opera IP?? AAA FPS franchise with excellent campaign?? They depend too much on third person action/adventure games. I haven't bought a Sony first party game since Horizon, God of War, and Uncharted 4 because they are beginning to feel so similar (3rd person action/adventure titles).
Dont really see the difference between this and the PS4 remaster. Maybe better lightning and denser foliage?? But it really doesn't look like a remake like FF7 remake or Resident Evil 2 Remake. This looks more like a remaster. To make things worse they are selling it for $70!
@RawnDawn It was a F2P game several years ago but it died. Now they are relaunching it. That is why it's called Phoenix Edition. It's coming back from the dead like a phoenix supposedly.
@MFTWrecks
The last turn-based FF game was FF10 in 2001. They have been moving towards increasingly action oriented combat systems over the years with the ff16 being very similar to Capcom's DMC combat systems. They actually hired the IIRC combat designer for DEvil May Cry for this game. I don't like this trend but if it is up to your alley then you can give it a try.
As for the story FF games are JRPGs through and through with an extra focus on romance and sacrifice. You save the world and even die but you do it all for your loved one. Most games feature intense love and friction between couples and even love triangles. FF7, ff8, ff9, ff10 are all very romantic games with death and sacrifice of characters for the sake of greater good. I love them for these themes.
@Glassneedles Yeah... time really flies. I was 16 when FFVIII was released and it feels like yesterday. Now I am 40 and getting old and creaky. My knees kind of hurt when I climb stairs and my back gets strained sometimes when I accidentally drive into a ditch. My ankle got twisted just a couple of days back. During my teenage I felt invincible and could heal through any injury but not anymore. 10 more years and I will probably be a grandpa. Where did my childhood go!?
Why are developers being so secretive this gen. A ton of games have been announced or rumoured for all platforms but none of them are willing to share any trailers, gameplay or even screenshots. Microsoft announced several games but still no updates after over two years. Other games include Last of us remake, silent hill remake, mgs remake, naughty dogs next IP after uncharted, gta6, starfield, da4, me4, ff16, mk12, sf6, hellblade 2, monster hunter 6 etc. etc. All in development but no updates. Hellblade 2 was announced years ago in 2018 or 2019 iirc and still no release. We will be halfway into current gen this year and so few games have been shown or released despite rampant rumors or official announcements. WHERE ARE THE BIG AAA GAMES!? It's really frustrating!
@misak192
I would like to quote a comment I read here a few weeks ago in response to your comment. It said basically something like, Old games are something that people love the IDEA of playing but not actually playing them.
Most of the people clamoring for old games love the idea of playing their childhood games from the good old days but rarely will they actually play them and finish them if they get the chance today. As soon as they start playing them for the first time after a decade, they are like "hmmm, this doest play or look as good as I remembered... yeah, it was great to visit the good old days for an hour or two. Oh well, let's back to my staple live service game or the new game that I bought recently."
I had BC on PS2 and PS3 for years and rarely did I ever play a game from the previous generations. The few times that I tried playing them, I couldn't keep playing for more than a few hours. Not to mention, my little brother used to complain that why did we get dad to buy a new console if all we were going to do was still play the same old games. lol I guess he had a point.
I still don't get it why do they have to remake the first game. It isn't as if it was released 20 years ago on PS1 or PS2. The game was released in 2013, barely 9 years ago, and was even remastered for the PS4. There is no need for this remake that nobody asked for.
SE really needs to focus less on graphics and more on gameplay, storytelling, writing, a rich and dense world design, and greater player freedom. They are too obsessed with graphics which is negatively impacting their games.
@wiiware
PS plus only provides you with online access. It does not guarantee that no games will ever have their servers shut down. Numerous games have shut down servers over the years. Did you cry to those developers too? Just keep playing offline. If people want them to keep the servers running then they should keep playing the game. They are not going to spend millions of dollars on keeping servers running for dead games. Expecting them to do so is being naive and entitled.
@TheRedComet
It comes with the territory. When people stop playing, they shut down the servers. The games that are active still have their servers up and running. Fortunately, people can still play it offline like always.
@wiiware Bro, it's a 5-year-old dead game. It had just 600 players even four years ago. It was dead just a year after release. Nobody is playing it online so they are shutting down the servers. You can still play it offline if you want.
@RainbowGazelle
Yes, but it's for games that are active and still being played. The game is 5 years old game and it had just 600 players 4 YEARS ago. I wonder what the number must be today if Sony is shutting it down. It is obvious that the game was already dead but they still supported it for four years. Why waste the money on keeping servers running for dead games when the same money can be spent on another game instead?
@Jaz007 The player base had fallen in just hundreds just 1 year after release. The game was dead on arrival and they continued to support it for 4 more years. What more do you want? They cannot keep supporting and wasting money on every dead game eternally. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/836704-everybodys-golf/76014138
@sanderson72 The game is 5 years old and the online population has fallen to just hundreds. Look at this four-year-old thread I am linking and even then the numbers had fallen as low as 600 simultaneously. They still supported it for 4 more years since then. Servers cost money you know and they cannot keep supporting every dead game eternally. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/836704-everybodys-golf/76014138
@huyi
No, I will not defend it blindly. I will agree with you where I think you are right. You are correct that the classics were supported for free in previous generations and can be easily supported through BC on PS4/PS5 and that it is greedy of Sony trying to charge a subscription for it. I had many of those classics on PS3 but cannot play them anymore because of the lack of classics BC on PS4 and PS5. That is wrong and anti-consumer.
I am just saying that I along with 40 million PS gamers already subscribe to PS Plus. An additional $60 for over 400 PS4/PS5 games and PS1/PS2/PS3 games is not overpriced or too much money. If you don't want to support it out of principle then good for you but I do not agree that it is not a good deal or it is overpriced. It is just $60 more for a PS plus subscriber for hundreds of additional games to play for a whole year.
@mariomaster96 By additional, I meant if you already have PS Plus. Over 40 million PS gamers have an active PS Plus and I have had a subscription active for the past 7 years. I play online frequently so PS Plus is essential. For people like me, it is just an additional $60 for all the goodies. Anyway, now I see why you see it as expensive and pointless. You don't play online and don't subscribe to PS Plus so it is $120 for something you don't need. Fair enough.
@shred5 Agreed. One cannot expect to get all the latest and greatest for paying $120 for a whole year. I already subscribe to PS Plus so it is only $60 more per year and I get PS4 games that I may be interested in playing and several classics. I think it is a good deal for just an additional $60.
@huyi Yes, of course, you can buy PS4 games you want but can you buy 400 games yourself? You may not have a PS5 but other do so it is a good deal for them. You cannot call it a bad deal just because you don't have a PS5. Try to look at it objectively and not based on your personal preferences or issues.
@mariomaster96
An additional $60 a year for 400+ 1-year-old games and several classics is a bad deal?? Are you really that cheap? Buying your games is a good thing and I wholeheartedly support it but an additional $60 for hundreds of PS4/PS5 and legacy games is an amazing deal.
@Dalejrfanfreak Day 1 launch is not feasible and possible for Sony who create high quality GOTY candidate games each year. They cost a lot of money to make and you cannot make your money back just from a subscription. MS is losing tons of money on Gamepass, they are using money from other divisions to support their Day 1 releases on Gamepass. That is not sustainable business and Sony has been saying the same thing.
@Juanalf I dont care about the PS3 games either. Most of them have been remastered by now and I own all of them including Ni no Kuni, Mass Effect, Bioshock etc.
@LtSarge
I think that PS Plus Premium is the better deal. I don't think it is too expensive. It is just $20 per year more than the Extra tier and you get access to all the PS1,PS2, and PSP games.
I am tired of these Playstation rumors because none of them turn out to be true. Whether it is the Project Spartacus we have been hearing about for ages or secret remake of a major PSOne era RPG, or MGS1 Remake, or an Irish singer recording songs for a secret Playstation game, Chrono Cross Remake, Xenogears Remake, Legend of Dragoon remake/sequel, Silent Hill game, or an earth-shattering state of play coming, etc., etc. It is all BS that gaming websites and Twitter "journalists" keep spreading but they never materialize.
@Luigia
There is no other dev team that has the talent to develop a GT game. I don't know how old you are but if you were around during the 90s at the time of the release of the first GT then you most likely know that Gran Turismo has always been made by Kazunori Yamauchi. The guy is a 54-year-old professional racer, car enthusiast, and veteran developer. Gran Turismo is his brainchild and there is no better developer than him for creating a racing game. You cannot just give Grant Turismo to Naughty Dog or Guerilla or some newly assembled team and expect them to create a quality racing game. They would have no idea what to do. Sony only needs to stay clear of live service and MTX like they have mostly until now.
@Luigia
What are you talking about? Sony gets criticized much more than Microsoft or Nintendo. Just look at this current debacle. They were bashed and criticized like crazy on social media and gaming websites. People were protesting, boycotting, using scripts to farm credits, and selling their GT7 copies. The game was downvoted to hell on Metacritic and now has one of the lowest if not the lowest User Score average on the website ever. Do you still think people let them off the hook easily? What more do you want? Burn Ryan on a stake or lynch him? Quarter Shuhei Yoshida?
Just goes to show that live service is a curse that can ruin even the most prestigious of gaming IPs. Gaming companies should stop trying to create the next big live service cash cow. So many games have been sacrificed for that ambition.
Hmmm, after some research I realized that the MTXs are really quite egregious. Cars cost millions of credits and you get measly thousands of credits per race. The two races that had their rewards increased was just fixing a glitch. I am sure somebody somewhere must have calculated how ridiculously long it would take to buy all the cars you want with 400 different cars, especially when some of them are invitation-only or in rotation.
All of this just makes the experience of the game too complicated and frustrating. The game should be about obtaining your dream cars, tuning them to your heart's desire, and having fun racing, crashing, and burning. And not about grinding credits and micromanaging your income, savings, expenses, and funds just so you can finally buy a car and the parts you want so you can finally race properly.
What about the two events which had their rewards increased by 1400% if my calculations are correct?? Nobody is looking at that? Both World Touring car 800 events had their rewards increased from 5,000 to 70,000! That is an increase of 130,000 credits for just two events. Seriously, PD just evenly divided the rewards based on the time and effort required for each event. I sense that certain people are trying really hard to tarnish the reputation of GT7 for some reason.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Currency Rewards to Be Increased Following Player Backlash

@Luigia
Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 User Score the Lowest in PlayStation Exclusive History
Just goes to show that live service is a curse that can ruin even the most prestigious of gaming IPs. Gaming companies should stop trying to create the next big live service cash cow. So many games have been sacrificed for that ambition.
Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Patch Restores Servers After 24 Hours, Polyphony Digital Comments on Microtransactions
Re: New Gran Turismo 7 Patch Lowers Currency Rewards, Fuelling More Microtransaction Criticism

@RubyCarbuncle
Dude, send it to me, please. I am too poor to buy one right now. You obviously don't need it.
