@MaccaMUFC
When did Sony take off Spiderman from the Xbox platform?? Are you talking about the Avengers' playable Spiderman character? There is a huge difference between an exclusivity deal for one character or even a game and buying a whole publisher for $68 billion made up of several studios. There is also a huge difference between a third-party game and a second-party game. The Spiderman games on Playstation were never multiplat and were funded by Sony. Bethesda and Activision games were always multiplat and came to all platforms. Those companies were free to choose where to release those games. By buying those companies they are depriving gamers of several multiplat titles which is unethical and monopolizing.
@MaccaMUFC The problem is that they are taking games away from Playstation. They would have gotten those multiplat games on Xbox anyway so the only purpose buying out publishers serves is to block and hurt Playstation. It is anticompetitive and unethical because it curbs competition. In addition, they are taking away choice from gamers and forcing them to become MS customers by securing multiplat franchises. And Yes, it would have been wrong even if Sony bought those third party publishers.
@S1ayeR74
Microsoft is not the all-wise and all-knowing you imagine it to be. They have plenty of failed products and services despite all their Office and Windows money. Xbox itself would have been dead a long time ago if it weren't for the Office/Windows money. They are throwing all their money from other divisions behind Gamepass right now because they know once they have a monopoly or even a majority share in the industry, gamers will be at their mercy and they can recover all the money they have spent and more. I hope they fail hard just like they have plenty of times in the past.
@The_Moose Agreed. MS is not making money on Gamepass. They are only funneling money from other divisions to support it. The service would have collapsed long ago if it weren't for the Office, Windows, and Azure money.
@S1ayeR74
Even if you sell that subscription for $20 per month, it would still bring in only $500 million per month for 25 million subs. Then you need to pay for all the salaries, bills, and expenses out of that $500 million which would leave very little money to actually pay for AAA games development. That is what people mean when they say that Gamepass is unsustainable. The only reason it is running right now is that MS is using Office 365, Windows, and Azure money to support it. A business is sustainable only when it can stand on its own two feet without draining money from other divisions.
@NEStalgia
That amount may be small for MS as a whole but gaming companies do not make anywhere near that money annually or even in a decade. I don't know what kind of creative accounting you are using but Activision-Blizzard's net profit after paying all expenses for 2020 was $2.2 Billion only so it would take 30 years for Activision-Blizzard to pay for itself at that rate. That is what I am talking about. If you are going to put those games on Gamepass then the revenue will fall further as sales decline and it would take even longer to recover the $68 billion.
@S1ayeR74 We thought the same about Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 but both of those ended up exclusive. I think only Warzone will be on PS just like Elder Scrolls Online.
@PhantomMenace84 Yeah, this definitely negatively impacts Sony. It is disgusting and monopolizing. The only thing Sony can do is buy all the major Japanese gaming companies to secure itself. Otherwise, everything would be MS published except small publishers/devs.
@Salt_AU Same here. I will never support MS. I don't even use Windows or Office for that reason. MS is just evil and destructive. I knew it MS would ruin gaming one day when the entered the industry back in 2001.
@KippDynamite Yep, Xbox fanboys will be using the same excuse all over again. They don't care if Microsoft is monopolizing all the major games in the industry and being anticompetitive.
Absolutely disgusting and unethical. Microsoft is destroying the gaming industry. That is why I have always hated Microsoft. They never play fair and always just outspend their competitors instead of offering quality products or services. What are Playstation gamers supposed to play if they buy all the major publishers and franchises??
Great timing! My sub is ending on December 14th so I can get the discount after that. Right now it shows that I own it but in two days it will be fine.
@Divergent95 I will try to explain why I feel that it is my favorite RPG or game of all time. Personally, I never understood what people mean when they call combat janky because it is such a vague word. I have played Witcher 3 several times including Death March and have platinumed it and both of its expansions. I loved the combat. Sometimes I use alchemy, sometimes I use sword skills, and sometimes I use signs. I find all builds fun and exciting. However, what truly makes it my ultimate RPG is are the feelings and emotions it arouses through its visuals, sounds, and characters. No other game has given me the same feelings of exploring the war-torn Velen where people are starving, begging for a few grains of wheat, and even being forced to eat cats and dogs. OR exploring the beautiful Skellige while the fantastic soundtrack plays in the background. Or playing Hearts of Stone and discovering the sad tragic tale of Olgeird Von Everec for the first time. How I felt genuine fear and awe whenever Gaunter came on screen. Or how I felt discovering the tragedy and self-fulfilling prophecy of Serena in Blood and Wine and poor Detlafs involvement in the whole incident. It is all about the feelings and emotions the game stirs in you like no other that makes it so special. Yes, there may be games with better combat, better story, or better open world but Witcher 3 is greater than the sum of its parts because of the rich and unbelievable heart and soul of the game. In the end, not everybody can like the same thing so I respect the people who do not like it but for me, it is my best game of all time. And I have been gaming for 35 years.
Just bought this again before the PSN sale ends. I pre-ordered it last year but then refunded after launch when the game sucked. I knew they would fix it eventually and I can get it cheaper down the line. The game already looks and plays great on PS4 slim although the city looks like a ghost town in most areas now. Looking forward to update 1.5 and PS5 upgrade.
@AFCC Yeah... Not saying it is a bad game but GOTY standards used to be much higher. IMO a game must be critically acclaimed with a 90+ Metacritic score to be considered for GOTY.
So she is just bitter that she didn't get a promotion in six years and even after demanding one??? And that the boss apparently addressed men when talking instead of looking at women??? What is discriminatory about that?? My boss rarely looked at me while talking to our department and many people do not get a promotion for years unless they demonstrate exceptional performance. You definitely don't get a promotion by walking into the boss's office and demanding a promotion. What has gender got to do with it?? IMO this is just being petty and vengeful.
Fighting game developers like Tecmo, Namco, Capcom, SNK, and Cyberconnect etc. have been guilty of some of the worst nickel & diming and milking practices in the industry this past decade. Namco has been milking this game for over 6 years and it is still not enough for them. I have completely boycotted fighting games since the PS4 generation. Just too exploitative and expensive.

Correction. $68 BILLION! That number is mind-boggling. How are they ever going to recover that much money from Activision-Blizzard??
