Re: Even with Final Fantasy 16, PS5 Can't Outsell Switch in Japan

OneWingedAngel

FF16 is too modernized. For old FF fans Final Fantasy is about turn based combat, controllable party members, romance, saving the world, beautiful world map to explore, hidden side quests/summons/party members, great soundtrack, and finally a happy ending.These modern ones have very few of those things.

SE has been obsessed with modernizing FF since 13 to attract a new generation of gamers. However, when you try to appeal to the new crowd, you lose your old one. And if the new one isn't bigger than the old one, you are screwed. Hence the declining sales, reputation, and fanbase for the FF series. For me FF series ended at FF10. FF12 is good but it is more of a Vagrant Story 2 than FF. The later ones just suck IMO.

Thank you for a civilized reply. It is very rare to get a respectful reply on the net. There is a long history behind my views and opinions on Microsoft but that is a story for another time. I don't even use any software by MS including Windows. Anyway, I am not posting an essay about how Sony earned my respect and MS earned my ire over the decades. I just leave it at that I have been playing games since the NES era and have seen the industry evolve (or more like devolve) into what it is today.

Re: Microsoft Planned to Conquer Japan with Square Enix Buyout, Eye-Opening Documents Reveal

OneWingedAngel

@Foxx_64740
MS is bad and that is why all this information is coming out. They have been investigated and fined numerous times for their anticompetitive practices. Did you forget their Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish strategy used to kill competition? They used it against Netscape Communicator in the past and got caught.

Sony is not the one buying whole publishers made of 20 studios. Ryans's comments are mostly like yeah we will survive... yeah we will be fine without CoD... maybe... Maybe we can buy Bungie...? CoD probably won't go anywhere... Those are just the words of a helpless man consoling himself and his team. That is it. If Redfall, Starfield, and Elder Scrolls can be made exclusive then so can CoD. It is up to MS and what Ryan believes or thinks does not matters. He cannot predict the future accurately.

On the other hand, MS's internal emails show that they initiated their plan to kill Sony in 2019/2020 when they pointed out that they are in a position to spend Sony out of business by buying all the publishers who make games for them. The company is pure evil and what makes it worse is that they have the money and political power to put those greedy evil plans into action.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

OneWingedAngel

I just want a good old turn based Final Fantasy with a romantic story, great music, and a happy ending. If I wanted Devil May Cry, I would just play Devil May Cry instead of a DMC wannabe. It may be a great game but I just don't like the direction of modern Final Fantasy games. Too much focus on graphics, action, grim dark stories with unhappy ending, and too little focus on what made Sakaguchi games so amazing. I just want to sit in bar as Laguna and listen to Julia playing Eye on Me or watch Rinoa sitting in Squalls lap with Eyes on me playing in the background. Or see Zidane return and surprise dagger after a year and see dagger running for him and embrace him with tears in her eyes. So memorable and indelible. 😊

Re: Reaction: Solid Xbox Showcase Should Give Sony Some Incentive to Stop Being So Damn Cloak and Daggers About PS5, PS4

OneWingedAngel

People are placing too much importance on these showcases. These weren't the first and last showcases for either of the platforms. It isn't the end of the world. There will be more to come and not all of them can be bangers. Games take time and need to reach a particular state before they can be shown to the public. Xbox has been hyping and showing the same games since the Series X reveal before they even started development. They have games to show because they haven't released anything for years. Sony has been releasing games steadily, so they have less to discuss. Ultimately, these are just one of many showcases; not the end of the world if one doesn't turn out to your expectations. Just relax and play the games. Don't you guys have any lives, school, jobs, and chores to do instead of bickering on the internet over video games? It is just a form of entertainment/hobby/past-time. Treat it as one.

Re: Square Enix Wants to Release More Higher Quality Games, Starting with Final Fantasy 16

OneWingedAngel

Just a little heads up for the author in case of the FF7 sequel. It isn't called FF7 Remake Rebirth. It is just FF7 Rebirth. The Remake in the title of the first game is a subtitle. Kind of like the Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Rings, Two Towers, and Return of the King). They kind of misled the players by putting Remake in the title. The game is actually a sequel and takes place after the events of the original FF7 and Advent Children.

Re: Destiny 3 Begins Trending on Twitter As Fans Are Fed Up with Current Game

OneWingedAngel

@Marquez
I love the gameplay too. Have been playing since D1. Got 1199 hours in D1 and 3256 hours in D2. (Time wasted on Destiny.com lol). I love the performance, shooting, and abilities. I just hate what Bungie has done to the game. They slowly turned the game into a hamster wheel and a full time job where you are never done and always have to keep playing to keep up with others. I also hated when they vaulted content like the Red War campaign which I liked very much. The 1AU mission was my favorite with an amazing soundtrack. How can they take away content that I paid for?? That is unfair even if it is legal.

Since Lightfall I was playing for 5 to 7 hours daily. Finally, after reaching max pinnacle cap I started feeling bad about how much time I wasted on arbitrary achievements in a videogame. I felt trapped and taken advantage of. Not to mention the toxic racist people on lfg add to the stress since English is not my native language. Then I saw a video by NovemberHotel on YouTube discussing how the game was designed like a job with tasks and deadlines like in real life to keep you busy forever. I decided to drop the game cold turkey after that. Have been playing the Cold Steel series stress-free since then with no pressure to keep up, completing dailies/weeklies, and finding lfg fireteams to complete raid/grandmasters. Peace at last.

Re: Destiny 3 Begins Trending on Twitter As Fans Are Fed Up with Current Game

OneWingedAngel

Bungie is charging too much for too little content. People are tired of paying over $100 each year and getting no new strikes, new crucible maps, or new gambit maps, and just 6 to 8-story missions with the story going nowhere and ending abruptly. Each season is the exact same leveling up the vendor and repeating the same old content to get reskinned weapons and armor. Even enemies are often just reskinned palette swaps with a few extra spikes or appendages. The game has become a neverending hamster wheel where you keep grinding the same old content. I just finished my pinnacle grind and it was atrocious. I thought about masterworking Leviathan's Breath but then saw that I needed 1,500 kills! 1500 kills with a bow with just 10 ammo! I immediately dropped the game. The gameplay is AMAZING but the content and gameplay loop are terrible.

Yep. This political climate and culture war has everyone shaking in their boots including corporations, media, and individuals. Everyone feels the need to quickly make their stance clear lest they get accused of being phobic of one kind or another.

Anyway, we people in the east are just watching the show from a safe distance in amazement of first world problems. We will just enjoy the Hogwarts Legacy and have fun. 👍🤗

Re: Rumour: Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Could Still Be a Long Way Off

OneWingedAngel

@Northern_munkey
The game started development in 2015, EIGHT YEARS ago. No way that can be considered rushing. Wonder how many fans just died waiting for it to release. Developers need to be more efficient with time/money and finish games in reasonable time. We are waiting like 10% of our lifetime (if we get to live untill 80) for a single game to release. If someone is already 40+ then they lost 25% of their remaining life waiting for this game. That is ridiculous!

Re: Rumour: Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Could Still Be a Long Way Off

OneWingedAngel

@trev666
This one has been in development for 8 years. Development started in 2015. They worked on it for almost 6 years and then scrapped everything to start over. That is why people are complaining and calling them incompetent. No to mention Andromeda and Anthem really hurt their reputation. 8 years is more than enough time to finish an RPG.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Delayed to April on PS4, PS5 Version Unaffected

OneWingedAngel

@Greifchen
Yeah, agreed. This game was supposed to launch in 2021 and it is being delayed for almost two years now. That is ridiculous. And people actually supporting these delays is even more ridiculous. I have been waiting for nearly two damn years for this game to release and am tired of it! I am on PS4 so more waiting for me. Yay!

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Looks Like Another Magical PS5, PS4 Open World

OneWingedAngel

@Luigia
This is not a Sony game. It is a multiplat releasing on everything including Switch. Although, I do agree that Devs should drop last gen consoles by now and show us what these new consoles can truly do. Enough cross gen games!
@ApostateMage
I figured out what is wrong with the lighting. There are no shadows! At all. Everything is just lit up and even people have no shadows including our character. That is just weird. Maybe a bug or a downgrade to get it running smoothly.

Re: Trails into Reverie Brings an End to Cold Steel's Story in Summer 2023 on PS5, PS4

OneWingedAngel

@colonelkilgore
You will burn out if you try to play all the games from the starts. There are several games that can amount to thousands of hours of gameplay and cutscenes. It is best to just start with Cold Steel 1. The Cold Steel subseries tell a complete story with cameos from protagonists and characters from previous games. But they are just cameos and fanservice that enhance your experience if you are familiar but no cons if you are not familiar. Just play all four cold steels and DO NOT CHECK ANY SCREENSHOTS, REVIEWS, OR VIDEOS OR YOU MAY SPOIL YOURSELF!! GO IN BLIND TO BE BLOWN AWAY!

Re: PS Plus Premium's Logic Doesn't Even Make Sense to Sony

OneWingedAngel

Three tiers of PS Plus are pointless. Just make them two tiers. PS Plus Essential and PS Plus Premium that comes with all the benefits of the current Extra and Premium. In other words, just combine Extra and Premium into a single sub. The more tiers you make, the harder it becomes to differentiate them.

Re: PS Store Blockbuster Games Sale Brings Prices Down on Hundreds of PS5, PS4 Titles

OneWingedAngel

@SegaBlueSky
Just a heads up. 13 Sentinels is NOT a JRPG. It is a visual novel with very little and basic combat in between chapters. You supposedly control "mechs" that don't even have 2D character models and only look like colored markers on the map with a name and select commands from a menu to fight other arbitrary triangles on the map. Most of the time you just spend selecting dialogue choices and trying to find a way to proceed with the story looking for that one little hidden object or trigger that you can't seem to find. And then you replay those same chapters to explore the alternate choices. I was expecting a mecha JRPG because that is what reviews and fans called it and was severely disappointed.

Re: PS5 Overtakes Switch as UK's Best-Selling Console of 2022

OneWingedAngel

@rockodoodle
They "expected" to break even in June 2021 at old component prices but the component prices kept increasing. In Accounting break even means that you have finally recovered your research and development costs that you spent creating and launching the product. You can now start earning a profit IF all the costs remain the same and you can keep getting the components at the same old rates. According to latest prices it costs estimated $800 to make a ps5 compared to $450 in 220. This is before including all the sales, distribution, and advertising costs.

Re: PS5 Overtakes Switch as UK's Best-Selling Console of 2022

OneWingedAngel

@sanderson72
Profit surplus? Do you know how much it costs to make a ps5?? $800 as of June 2022! Even in 2020 it cost Sony over $450 to make a single ps5. This does not includes all the marketing, distribution, and advertising costs which would increase the cost significantly more.

The prices of components have increased significantly over the past two years due to Covid and global economic turmoil. They're selling at a heavy loss if anything. Please don't spread uneducated nonsense.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@OrtadragoonX
Not 29%. It was only 21%. 79% sold on Playstation. In other words, if 79,000 were sold on PS, then only 21,000 were sold on Xbox. This was only in the UK. The numbers are much worse in Japan and other Asian regions where the Xbox versions sell just a few hundred or thousands of copies in a lifetime. Those are extremely dire figures. If it costs a company a few million dollars to port a game to a platform and if they cannot even recover that money or barely recover that money then what is the point of releasing it on that platform?? You need to make SIGNIFICANTLY MORE money than you spent to make porting worthwhile. If FF15 flopped in most regions on XBox then there is no reason to release FF16 on Xbox for SE.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@Sakisa
Well, can you bring better proof than that? Please show me a JRPG on Xbox that sold the same or more than the Playstation version and I will acknowledge your argument. I am sure I can find more articles but if you have already made up your mind then any kind of proof would be inadequate for you. It will always be "too old, too flimsy, too limited, etc." for you.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@OrtadragoonX
Well, that I can agree with. It is a very reasonable analysis. But I do not think Sony could have done much to prevent it. Activision was looking to sell and only MS had that kind of money. The only thing Sony can do is appeal to the government authorities to stop the acquisition. If that doesn't work then tough luck. I only think that it is not a good thing overall.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@Sakisa
Proof? The proof is in the pudding (the sales). FF15 for example sold 79% of its total sales on PS4 compared to just 21% on Xbox. Not to mention Japan sales are nonexistence on Xbox. I am sure if you compare the sales of several JRPGs between both platforms you will see a similar difference. Japanese devs tried and some are even trying now but they have generally realized Xbox is not worth it for Japanese games.

https://www.psu.com/news/final-fantasy-15-ps4-sales-stomp-all-over-the-xbox-one-version/

Now tell why SquareEnix would bother releasing FF16 on Xbox after that?

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@OrtadragoonX
Gaming is a business and businesses are governed by laws and rules. "Might (whether physical or financial) is right" is not the law of the land in the civilized world. You cannot push the little players out of the industry by throwing money so you can make all the money by yourself. That is why antitrust and anticompetitive laws exist to give everyone a fair chance at business. How would you like if somebody stole your job or customers by spending money instead of competing legitimately by offering a better product or service? Of course, it would hurt you and you wouldn't wish it to happen to you. That is why buying whole publishers is wrong. It destroys rival businesses and takes away options from customers.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@Sakisa
If it's true then what is wrong with the argument? Please tell me how many millions several of the JRPGs released on Xbox sold compared to Playstation? What happened to all the JRPGs that Xbox 360 secured including Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia? All of them flopped and had to be released on PS3 to recover their costs. Lost Odyssey never even got a sequel. FF13, FF15, Tales games, and Yakuza games all flopped on Xbox. It is a fact even if you do not like it. It only provides more motivation to devs to make them exclusive to PS.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@IonMagi
He does not have the kind of money that MS has at its disposal. Simple truth. That is why anticompetitive and antitrust laws exist; to protect smaller businesses. Otherwise, all industries would be dominated by the wealthiest business that would crush and kick the smaller ones by throwing money at everything. MS has done this in the past and has been taken to court over it. They are an anticompetitive and monopolistic company that pretends to be pro-consumer until they kick everyone out of the industry or brings them under its heel.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@Godot25
You cannot "cancel" a legally binding contract or Sony would take them to court and demands billions in damages. That is why Phil Spencer cannot do it. As I said, buying timed exclusivity or one or two small devs is part of the business but buying whole third-party publishers for 70 billion is not. That is anti-competitive and evil and it hurts customers in the long run. Monopoly or oligopolies always hurt customers when customers do not have any substitutes.

As for some Japanese games being exclusive to Playstation, Final Fantasy or other JRPGs are Japanese franchises. They barely sell on Xbox. Japanese companies have very little motivation to release them on Xbox. If Sony can cover the meager sales they may lose by not releasing them on Xbox then they have no reason to dedicate manpower and funds to port those games to Xbox. That is why they are exclusive to Sony. If Xbox customers bought those games then those companies would never make them exclusive to Playstation.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@Godot25
Timed exclusives and exclusivity deals are part of the business. Xbox has been doing it for decades and long before Playstation. Remember all the JRPG exclusives MS secured during 360 era despite poor sales? Witcher 2 exclusivity? CoD marketing and DLC deals? How about Tomb Raider exclusivity? As for cross-play fees, it was an MS trap, to begin with. They wanted Sony to lose customers and created a PR nightmare by promoting crossplay. Sony had the right to protect its business and prevent the loss of customers. However, buying whole publishers is anti-competitive because it deprives rivals of games and can push them out of business. Sony or Nintendo have never done that.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OneWingedAngel

@IonMagi
Of course he is feeling the pressure. It will hurt them financially if CoD fans leave for Xbox. Microsoft has been using underhanded tactics by throwing money on whole third-party publishers instead of creating blockbuster new IPs on its own or buying one or two small studios they have been close with like Sony. Sony has the right to defend its business when a bigger rival corporation is trying to kick it out of the market by throwing money and buying all the major third-party IPs.

Re: Soapbox: No Free PS5 Upgrade for Persona 5 Royal Is an Insult to Fans and the Game Itself

OneWingedAngel

@DorkyDeviant
No, I only bought it once and didn't fall for it again. Atlus, like Tecmo Koei, is a greedy company and I refuse to support such anti-consumer practices. If being a pro-consumer dev is being stupid then I will only support stupid developers. There is a difference between supporting your favorite developer and being bent over by greedy devs. You got money to burn, good for you. Throw it as many times you want. Maybe I can sell you a glass of tap water for $100 while you are at it? Anyway, I will spend my money on developers who respect their customer's time, money, and devotion more than Atlus.
