Re: Beloved Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes $70, $80 Games Are a Steal

I play video games since before the 8bit days, last game I payed "full price" for was either Elden Ring or Death Stranding, whichever came later, astrobot I got on release for 44€. I have so many games in my library that I am not in need to play the "new and shiny" thing right away. if a game is digital only, there is no way I pay full price, the one exception would be a SOCOM 2 Remake (which, thanks to Sony, will probably never happen).
They can charge whatever they seem fit, I will always wait for a sale or buy it second hand. I know I might be in a small minority.

I am also very curious what the new Mario Kart will entail, that it justifys the 80€ price tag. 40 more reused tracks? Nothing against it, however for me that would be another slap in the face from Nintendo, they are good at doing exactly that and get away with it free almost all of the time.

Late to the party, I am playing Odins Sphere Leifthrasir, just for reference I started the game and played it for several hours back in 2016 (stopped, probably becuase another game sparked my interest) and I did restart it this last week and I do quite enjoy it.

Still have to finish Ashen, The Outer Worlds and Actraiser.

Oh, also started Red Dead Redemtion again, completed this game back in the Xbox360 days, I was just in the mood for it. Love it.

To all of you a good sunday night and a great new week. Cheers.

I finished The Last of Us Part II. It was an interesting ride, started the game a few weeks after its original release and stopped again (2hours in), cause I did not had to much interest in the continuation of the story.

Before I started Part 2, I was playing different scenarios through in my head and I always got stuck on one conclusion and it was the one they went with. So for me there was no surpise in the golf lesson, besides the brutality, but well, it is what the game is known for.

Gameplay wise it is a huge improvement compared to Part 1, it just did not click as much with me as the first one. I enjoyed the interaction between Joel and Ellie way more in Part 1.
Still a great game nonetheless.

I also finished the career in Powerwash Simulator, perfect game for listening to podcasts and I continued to play Uncharted 3 on PS3 and man, it is rough, the shooting remains to be terrible.
Interesting that the reviews still praised the game into the heavens.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, it is not much left. ^^

Playing lots on the PS3, was finishing Last of us on survivor+ and started Uncharted 3.

Last of us is still amazing in almost every way. Uncharted 3 not so much, I am only at Chapter 6, the fighting animations in the bar were terrible and the shooting feels devolved compared to Uncharted 2. Shooting in any Uncharted never felt quite good. Over time I will get used to it, I think.

Also playing Mafia 2 on PS3, I enjoy the old PS3 games in general.

Playing Last of us made me also rewatch the first season of the series, very enjoyable to watch.

Playing The Outer Worlds (PS4 Version) right now. I am already able to visit different planets and it is just not clicking with me. I was looking forward play a game like this. On PC I occasionally play Death must die. It is fun.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and happy gaming everyone.

Re: Astro Bot Blasts Past Elden Ring, Currently 2024's Highest-Rated Release

@StylesT

absolutly agree with you, I do not understand the high ratings. I enjoyed the game for what it was, a polished game, but very short and barely any challenge.

Would have loved some museum or something like that, where you can see the bots and get some more information on the games they originated from.

All in all there was no game that toped them all this year, if Astro wins GOTY thats fair, Eldenring should not win, it should not even be in there.

Re: Black Friday 2024: Best Deals on PS5 Consoles, Games, Controllers, SSDs, and More

NoHope

I scored already lots of stuff (Germany).

Star Ocean 2nd Story
Top Spin
Red Dead Redemption
each under 20 €

FF VII Rebirth 34,99€
Alan Wake 2 Deluxe 39.99€

Last Faith 16€

All physical ofc. I need to reach an age of 300+ otherwise I will not make it through all the games I own.

On top of that, Sony provided some Disc Drives on PS Direct a few days ago, was sold out within minutes, however, this time I got lucky and scored one.

I hope for some great digital deals on friday. Come on Sony, get a grip and strip me of some coin.

Re: Astro Bot Sells 1.5 Million PS5 Copies Inside Nine Weeks

NoHope

I was hoping for a bit higher sales numbers for Astro, yet it was predictable that the game did not sell all to well, given how quiet Sony was about it.

Maybe if it can wins a bunch GOTY awards, the sales will get better, it is a fantastic game, however in my opinion the pricetag is too high and it is a bit overrated - it's great but nowhere near the masterpiece people make it out to be.

Liams comparisons rarely make any sense to me, if you compare release titels (same timespan) with a game release for a much higher userbase, what exactly is the point of this?

What is even more shocking to me is, that the 3 games could not gather much higher sales by now. Maybe because they are on some PS+ tier, no clue.

Demon's Souls and Returnal are fantastic and also unique games.
