and if it come right now to it, take of the side panels and blow an actual fan right into the Playstation's vents. This is the unfortunate situation that I am in. Not just with this game but with all games. I will crash after about an hour of play with no record of the crash. I have to physically unplug my unit and them my Playstation just treats it as an illegal shutdown.

This is my fault. In January 2024, the Xbox looked so good that by June, I had bought one. Then, as my luck would have it, that fall the tiers changed for the worse, and they started porting to PlayStation, and now this. Sorry, all you Xbox fans, I do feel responsible.

Is this game more or less scary than Alan Wake, Evil Within, or The Last of Us? I am not good with horror games (could not make it around the hallway once in PT), but I enjoy a good action-adventure game with horror elements.

I am certain that the day the rapture arrives and the release of this game will be the same day.

You sure are late to the party on these comments. lol... Anyway, trash it may be, but I would play the worst "Like a Dragon" copy/paste trash over any Fromsoft or CDPR game any day. Now that's a hot take!

I played this on Xbox, and it's as good as a 7/10 all day. It's short and sweet, with Zelda-esq dungeons and, as the review says, Persona-style social linking. Do all the side content, as it helps fill in the narrative. All in all, I had a fun week or so with this game.

When this game opened up ship travel with a Pirates of Penzance style musical number I was HOOKED.

You know why people are dunking on this game. Their thinly veiled dog whistles have become slogans. Their hate has nothing to do with whatever crap they claim, and everything to do with their views on human rights and how they feel certain groups should not have them.

...and this is what is wrong with the gaming industry now. developers that kowtow to every whim their crybaby fanbases can muster. When one group gets what they want every group thinks they can get what they want.

I look forward to the over-the-top reactions to everything said on the SoP by anyone for any reason. Be it out-of-context bad takes, cries of wokeness, whinging about art direction, vailed misogyny or racism, overt misogyny and racism, the cries to oust CEOs, or just complaining there is not enough "gameplay" in announcement trailers. MMMM, tasty modern gaming attitudes...

OH man, I was playing Xbox all weekend and overlooked this significant cultural event. Now I have major FOMO

I am putting a lot of unfair expectations on this game. Here is a list of things I hope it fixes in my life:

-Depression
-Psoriasis
-Pron Addiction
-Finds me a better-paying job
-makes me more attractive to others.

What are you on about? Low-level humour? These games are PEAK campiness. Do you just prefer serious tones in all your games? Are you allergic to FUN? I'm just taking the p*ss, but campy humour is not a complaint I normally see about the Yakuza/Like Dragon games. Usually, the complaint is that we cannot make Kiryu and Majima kiss.

Already artists are embracing AI to make certain creation tasks easier. Generative AI in Photoshop is helping photographers create something unique with their work. Generative AI could be used in the initial design phase of video games to help hash out themes, script outlines, or storyboards. It's not all bad as long as the ARTIST uses AI to make THEIR life easier.

The problem arises when a half-dozen people in marketing or management do the same thing and eliminate the artist.

I have not played the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games in any proper order and it has never detracted from my enjoyment of any of them. Do what you like and play in any order you wish, but I don't think playing out of order ruins anything.

I'm the opposite, if they don't have the larger lore in this game, or make an effort to bring it back to the levels of when Desmond was the main modern-day story protagonist, then I will be disappointed...lol...

I sure miss Reggie in a more "everyday" capacity in the games industry. Knowing he is still involved in an advisory/mentoring role is great as he has always been such a cheerleader for the hobby. How he was able to balance the business side with the fandom side of games is something that has been lost with the current crop of CEOs

All the main characters in the AC games are not real people. However, many of the side characters are.

Ironically, the most controversial PLAYABLE character, Yasuke, is the only one who can actually be placed in actual history.

I understand that it's subjective, and I don't "worship" all the Mario games. However, it's nice to have a (slightly tongue-in-cheek) discussion about actual video games rather than bickering about other topics that occasionally hijack these comment sections. I still think Reggie's comment was more of a "welcome to the club Team Asobie" than a jibe.

Astro Bot is a fantastic Astro Bot game it does not NEED to be better than a 3D Mario game.

Exactly this. Anybody who has NOT played Super Mario Odyssey should not even be making claims and if they HAVE played Super Mario Odyssey then they should know better...lol...I don't even know why this is a debate.

Not quite correct.

1)Reggie does not work for Nintendo so he is shilling for nobody.
2)Astro Bot is a fantastic game but is not superior to Mario
3)It should be considered a compliment for an ex-Nintendo CEO to say your game is very close in quality to a product that has had 3 decades of ideas and refinement to build upon.

I am going to say this as someone who absolutely loved Astro Bot. Reggie is right. However, if you give Team Asobi a time machine, have them go back 30 years, have Asobi and Nintendo wage a friendly war to make the best 3D platformer using each other as inspiration then we can have this conversation again. Untill then 3D Mario are the GOAT's.

In fact I would propose that we call all 3D platformers Mariolikes the same way we use Rougelike, Soulslike and Metroidvainia to describe entire genres. Nevermind...we already do...lol...

Just so everyone is aware. The game is rated TEEN. That means that they are not promoting gambling to children they are promoting gambling to TEENagers—a big difference.

Do you know what would make more sense than live service? Ads for other games in the middle of the game we are playing. Imagine, if you will, arriving at a chapter break in Alan Wake 2 but instead of a moody song against the backdrop of ghostly visions, you get an ad for some Unity game called Brick Crusher, Troll Bash or Marble Runner. I think that would be neat!

If there will be one game this year that saves me from punching my ticket, this one will be it.

As units wear out and more and more Switch 2 exclusives come out (Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Metroid, Smash Bros, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing need I go on) this will be a repeat of what the Switch is doing right now—great sales in NA and Europe but DOMINATION in Japan.

I, for one, am not looking forward to the outrage over the price. This is going to be at least 399 US. That's the rumour, at least,, but when it's officially announced at more than that, the world will burn, just like over the price of the PS5 Pro.

All the PS5 games should also be available for streaming on the Portal as well!

Astro Bot is a very well-made and entertaining game. It may also be the best 3D platformer to come out last year. However, it is not better than Super Mario Odyssey/Galaxy/Sunshine/64, not by at least 28 years of excellence.

Signing up for a membership to be allowed to shop at their store sounds suspiciously like a Costco or Sam's Club. People are lining up for those memberships. PC gamers are just mad when they get caught with a pirated copy after needing a PSN account to launch the game. Its just entitled BS.

Those aren't flaws, those are features.

That being said, I did feel like I was "liking" DS1 because of the pedigree and not that I was truly enjoying the experience. Toward the end, it was just Inventory Managment: The Game.

I think we were imagining 2 different things. You were imagining a world where a Western developer could come up with a Gatcha game based on comic books and it would be well received. I was not imagining that.
