Although most of my games are still remasters of ps4 stuff (uncharted, last of us, judgment, spiderman, etc) I have given scores to the few that I can.
That said, Hogwarts Legacy is the only thing I have been playing for the past month.
As much as I would prefer something new and original, I would definitely grab a remaster of one the most unique and inventive games that I have ever played.
I agree that Hogwarts legacy seems pretty impressive as it is. Does the game really need DLC?
I think that it would be nice to play chess with your school friends, and, yes, Quidditch would be great - but is it really necessary?
Besides, I feel that getting Quidditch to work in the game would require a massive effort. Considering how Quidditch is actually played in the books.
My play-through has been 60 hours, so far, and I am just getting ready to start the finale. And there is still so much that I could discover, that I feel like I have barely scratched the surface.
Also, considering how many games have DLC and later patches and add-ons, it is refreshing to actually buy a game that feels complete already.
10/10 from me.
The attention to detail is fantastic, and there is clearly a love of the source material.
i am about 35 hours in.
I have (i think) two quests left to go in order to finish the story - but still feel like I have barely scratched the surface of this game.
And once i finish it, I am pretty sure the only thing I will do is start again.
Good review. Really been looking forward to this game. Pre-ordered my copy just before Christmas. Only four more days for me to wait now.
Been re-watching all of the HP movies recently, and it has been fun immersing myself in that world, again.
And as for all of the other drama - shall we say?
Someone once said “I may disagree with what you say, but I defend your right to say it”. JK Rowling’s personal opinions do not detract from her creations as a writer.
These same people who attack JKR for her personal opinions - do they also attack all vegetarians as being “evil” on account of Hitler being a vegetarian?
I did have two of the XBox Elite controllers, for the Xbox One X. These were good, but the rubber that covered the handles started to peel away eventually.
I think these were about £130 each, at the time.
But paying over £200 for one single joypad does seem excessive, to put it mildly.
Especially when I am already perfectly happy the DualSense controllers as they are.
I must say that 70 hours doesn’t seem like a lot. I imagine this means that the game I’ll take about three weeks to finish.
But there should also be lots of replay value, depending. upon the characters you create. I mean, that a Slytherin playthrough should be very different to a Hufflepuff playthrough.
If the game is faithful to the “Wizarding World” I would love to thoroughly explore it.
I can remember sinking about 200 hours into Dragon Age Inquisition
Whatever happened to polite discourse? “I disagree with what you say, but I shall defend your right to say it”.
What is even worse, is that if people are unwilling to hear ideas that differ from those they already hold, then how could these people be expected to learn anything?
The best answer is - think for yourself. Play it, form your own opinion.
Got this on release day, and completed it shortly after.
The game’s a 10/10 from me. I don’t think the price matters too much - it is basically a brand new game. I mean, the people who really want it now, they will buy it anyway.
I think the people complaining that “it’s too expensive” generally are the same people who think ALL games are “too expensive”.
I just hope that now ND can make a native PS5 version of part 2. Sorry, I meant Part II.
I have had one of the 2TB ones (the WD SN850) since the end of January.
Yes, the external HDD will store PS5 games, but you cannot launch them from there. And the extended SSD is lightning fast.
There are 16 PS5 games all on the SSD, totalling 0.8TB of 2TB. There are 43 PS4 games on the external WD Elements USB HDD, totalling 1.4TB, out of 6TB
If I was to run out of space on this SSD, I could probably copy a few PS5 on the external HDD, or even onto the internal storage (currently totally empty) in order to make room.
I can only think of half-a-dozen games coming out this year that I will most likely buy, so storage space should not be an issue for quite some time.
This does not strike me as a cynical “cash grab” in order to fleece the fans.
This seems to be just what it purports to be - a genuine remake of an old classic game with modern technology, in order to take the best advantages of that modern tech.
I am very much sold, and looking forward to it. Especially considering Naughty Dog’s well-known attention to detail.
And (off-topic, I know) in response to @GagaOooLaLa, please remember that the world’s very first National Association for the Protection of the Blind, was found in Germany. In 1933.
I haven’t played the game yet, so I cannot comment on the game itself.
Yes, I will admit the review seems rather harsh - but Liam seems to be making valid criticism, and has good reasons for his “average” review. Plus, that’s his job.
I also think that PushSquare reviews are fairly accurate. Otherwise I would not be a regular visitor.
That said, I will probably give this game a go - because I enjoyed Until Dawn so much. That is probably the opinion of most readers here, too.
It is one the best open world games, in my opinion. The attention to detail is amazing. And (having read a lot about ancient Egypt) it seems to be practically historically accurate, too.
It seems fair comment to say that the world is half empty. But Upper Egypt is mostly empty, it is the desert, after all.
I never did play either Odyssey or Valhalla, because neither of those two appealed to me, after the Egyptian setting.
I think developers will probably stop producing PS4 software shortly after they realise how to tap the full potential of the PS5. And that won’t happen for a while yet.
Is there anything out right now that shows what the PS5 (or the Series X, for that matter) is truly capable of? Something utterly ground-breaking?
If so, then I haven’t heard about it. And we won’t hear about it for as long as consumers are happy with current-gen (PS5) versions of GTAV or the Witcher 3.
How many PS5 games are there that just cannot run on a PS4?
Actually the final line of this article sort of sums up my feelings.
Despite your player choices seeming more or less incidental - I did not think that ME:Andromeda was all that bad. Most of the “hate” directed at Andromeda was probably because they actually tried something new.
But how much faith have we got left in Bioware, though? After Anthem? After most of their writers seem to have left?
Please, I anxiously await both a new Mass Effect, and Dragon Age 4.
The first Mass Effect is definitely shoddy by modern standards. If it had had a PS release, then yes, it probably would have been a PS2 game. It only released on PS3 when the trilogy version first came out.
Mass Effect 2 was the first to release on PlayStation. And the gameplay is light years ahead of the original.
Doing the Feros (ExoGeni) mission I once got the Mako wedged under a bridge. Had to start the whole mission from scratch.
I am willing to forgive the first game it’s flaws - simply because of the story and the characters. Which is probably some of the very best in all of gaming.
Mordin : “I am the very model of a scientist salarian!”
I think that my very first Platinum trophy was for the original Uncharted - Drake’s Fortune, on the PS3.
At least that felt like a real achievement. Still not sure how I had the patience for crushing difficulty.
And that is the point. Unlocking trophies is rewarding, sure, but you should feel like you have actually achieved something.
If you haven’t been challenged in the process - then are you not really just cheating? And even worse, the only person you are cheating is yourself.
I’m not really a great trophy hunter anyway.
That said, has anyone else played “Lake”?. It’s laidback and overall a lot of fun. Something a little bit different. There is a sort of “Twin Peaks” atmosphere to it. Point is, there are 12 trophies - Including a platinum. It took about a day-and-a-half overall.
I have been looking forward to this ever since it was first announced - years ago, now.
I have wanted a high seas pirate adventure game for a long time. Let’s hope that they don’t mess this up.
(Uncharted 4 doesn’t count. It’s brilliant, naturally. But the wrong sort of adventure).
I had Sid Meier’s Pirates, on the Amiga. showing my age bit now.
If they are able to recreate the 16th century Spanish Main, with the level of detail of something like Assassins Creed Origins, I would be in my element.
I have only played Forbidden West once, so far. I recognised a few places as I was going through it. And I was rightly impressed. But now, having just seen this..
That is just awe-inspiring. This level of attention-to-detail is incredible.
That, and it really shows what the PS5 is capable of, too.
I have been looking forward to Hogwarts Legacy since the very first announcement.
I worked in a cinema, when the first film came out - and it was complete mayhem. Always enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, but I did not read the books until much later on.
I consider myself a huge HP fan, even now I am in my forties.
But I agree with some of the comments, that I have little interest in playing a character as a Gryffindor - seems a little too safe, and well …boring.
Either a Ravenclaw, (like Luna Lovegood) or a Hufflepuff (like Newt Scamander) seems better.
I must admit it took me AGES to get familiar with the grappling hook (sorry, the uh… pull-caster). Doing one mission, I kept on falling in the water again and again. You know the one.
Had to basically start the game over again, but once I did it all just fell into place.
I didn’t play Machine Strike, or do much of the hunting grounds, but covered everything else I could find.
The bit I probably enjoyed the most was actually seeing Talanah again. And Plainsong is just gorgeous. And being able to fly the Sunwing.
I liked how the story seems to “tie up loose ends” was great.

Re: Standalone Harry Potter Quidditch Game Announced
This looks far too cartoon-ish for my tastes.
It’s Kena Bridge of Spirits (The Quidditch Edition).
I agree that Quidditch should have simply been added to Hogwarts Legacy.
The player would likely of been forced to either play as the Seeker or the Keeper.
Re: The Witcher 3 'the Best It's Ever Been' with Latest PS5 Update
I would love to replay this, in its “best-ever” condition. And I will get around to it someday.
But right now, nothing seems to be able to tear me away from Hogwarts.

A Mirrors Edge remaster? Yes please!
As much as I would prefer something new and original, I would definitely grab a remaster of one the most unique and inventive games that I have ever played.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy Team Confirms DLC Isn't Planned
I agree that Hogwarts legacy seems pretty impressive as it is. Does the game really need DLC?

Mine’s installing, too.
Finished the prologue, and waiting for the install to catch up.
Really impressed by it so far.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) - A Harry Potter Dream Come True
The is an article over on Pure XBox which suggests altering the settings to make the game smoother, and easier to control.
Turning the “camera acceleration” all of the way down will make the camera react faster.
It also suggested turning the “camera sensitivity” up a little bit.
This should make the whole thing easier.
I don’t how easy it is find those settings in the menus, though. But will give it a try once my copy arrives.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) - A Harry Potter Dream Come True
Just seen some bits of a video (over on Pure Xbox) comparing game footage with scenes from the movies.
The attention to detail just looks phenomenal.
Really looking forward to tomorrow.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) - A Harry Potter Dream Come True
@LiamCroft
Could you tell me what the game’s actual file size is going to be, please?
I realised that when I asked that question a moment ago, I hadn’t actually directed it to anybody in particular.
Re: Rumour: BioWare May Have Just Confirmed the Return of Commander Shepard in the New Mass Effect
@ChopperCampbell
If memory serves, the character in Andromeda (Ryder) was never meant to be the leader.
Ryder’s dad dies - and the mantle of leader is sort of thrust upon the younger Ryder - not by choice.
Scott (or Sara) Ryder seems to grow into the leader role, as the game progresses.
Re: Forspoken PS5 Patch Will Address Performance, Graphics, and More as Dev Remains 'Committed'
I am glad to see that Square Enix are trying to improve this game.
Although I understand the complaints about the dialogue, I don’t really mind it, as it clearly marks out Frey as an “outsider”.
Although, the level of profanity seems unnecessary.
My only real complaint is that, in comparison to something like Horizon: Forbidden West, the open world of Athia feels half empty.
But perhaps there is a reason for that, which I have yet to discover.
That being said, I am enjoying playing Forspoken, but maybe that is only because I am doing it in small doses.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) - A Harry Potter Dream Come True
I cannot be the only one here who sees -
“Removed: Comment is unconstructive. User is banned”.
I guess that we shall never know, and leave it to our imaginations.
Presumably these people are banned for their refusal to behave in a civilised manner?
I am just disappointed that it is deemed necessary, that it happens at all.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Game Length, Side Puzzles Revealed in Leaked Art Book
@ItsBritneyB_tch
As someone else commented, the game will be set about a century before the books/films.
That said, the films are definitely worth watching anyway. They are all very good. And you will understand the game’s world better for having done so.
And as usual - the books are better than the films. But, be warned, some of the books are HUGE.

Re: Placing Your PS5 Vertically Could Kill It, Unverified Claims Suggest
But the console had a vertical stand IN THE BOX.
Clearly it is DESIGNED to stand upright.
However, mine is horizontal, purely because I have not got the room. There is a shelf in the way.
As for requiring a separate stand to place the console horizontally, well, that’s is a different story.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing The Witcher 3's PS5 Upgrade?
Just downloading the PS5 version now.
So, yes I shall definitely be replaying it.
Want to finish Horizon FW again though. So the Witcher is now the second game in my backlog queue, after Ragnarok.
I mean after playing God Of War, Ragnarok.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy's Platinum Trophy Will Have You Scouring Every Inch of the School Grounds
So you character needs to be a member of a certain house, in order to achieve certain things?
Does this mean that in order to Platinum this game, you should need to complete four different play throughs?
Students are “sorted into their houses” according to their traits and personality, anyway. (At least, according to the books).
What I mean is, that even if you are required to play through the game four times, each one ought to be a different experience.
I feel like I would want to play this lots of times, anyway.

Had this pre-ordered.
Played and completed both PS3 and PS4 versions.
Installing this now.
Will likely start playing tomorrow.
Re: The Last of Us: Part I Launch Trailer Is Here, Looks Incredible on PS5
Pre-ordered my copy ages ago.
Yes, £65 seems like a LOT of money, for a game I have already owned …twice.
But this really does look like something special. And technically, it is not a remaster - this has been rebuilt from scratch.
Re: Donnie Yen Announces Sleeping Dogs Movie Role
But didn’t they already make a “Sleeping Dogs” movie?
Infernal Affairs (2002)
Re: Poll: Sleeping Dogs Turns 10 Years Old - Are You Still a Fan?
Sleeping Dogs is a terrific game.
Replayed it again recently.
If anything, having the definitive edition (with every add-on) makes it almost too easy.
And I agree that it is much better than GTA IV.
Sleeping Dogs gets a 10/10 from me.
It is the Hong Kong setting that makes it really unique.
Re: Upcoming PS5, PS4 Games for August and September 2022
The Last of Us, for me. That’s all.
Mine’s already been preordered.
This will be the first Saints Row game that I actively ignore.
The rest of the stuff I am looking forward to is not out yet. Obviously.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I Compares Tess on PS5 vs. PS3 Model, and the Results Are Impressive
Looking forward to this game.
I remember playing this on the PS3, and being terrified by it.
Brilliant game, with a great story. Replaying it at the minute, actually.
Hopefully, they will re-release a NATIVE PS5 version of Part 2 (sorry, Part II), as well.
Re: The Quarry (PS5) - Maybe Until Dawn Was Just a Fluke
Plus, remember Push Square giving Lake 6/10?
I enjoyed Lake, too. Even if that game is a bit shallow.
Re: The Quarry (PS5) - Maybe Until Dawn Was Just a Fluke
I haven’t played the game yet, so I cannot comment on the game itself.
Yes, I will admit the review seems rather harsh - but Liam seems to be making valid criticism, and has good reasons for his “average” review. Plus, that’s his job.
I also think that PushSquare reviews are fairly accurate. Otherwise I would not be a regular visitor.
That said, I will probably give this game a go - because I enjoyed Until Dawn so much. That is probably the opinion of most readers here, too.
But, can’t say we were not warned.
Re: Poll: Will You Buy The Last of Us: Part I?
No, of course they will not release a “Collection” edition.
That would save people some money.
What was I thinking?
Re: Poll: Will You Buy The Last of Us: Part I?
I completed the PS3 version several times. I also completed the PS4 remaster a few times, too.
I will definitely buy the PS5 remaster-remaster.
Maybe I am a sucker. Perhaps I am just a glutton for punishment.
But mostly I just want to see what Naughty Dog are capable of with new hardware.
And my copy of Part II has NEVER worked on the PS5, so I will buy that again, too.
Do you think that they release some kind of Collection/Double Pack edition?
Re: Hands On: Assassin's Creed Origins PS5 Patch Reminds Us That It's One of the Series' Best Games
I love Assassins Creed Origins.
It is one the best open world games, in my opinion. The attention to detail is amazing. And (having read a lot about ancient Egypt) it seems to be practically historically accurate, too.
It seems fair comment to say that the world is half empty. But Upper Egypt is mostly empty, it is the desert, after all.

Re: Mini Review: Lake (PS5) - Mail Sim Stuck Between First and Second Class
I got this a few days ago.
Haven’t noticed any real glitches.
It has a nice laid-back feel to it.
Especially considering there is eventually an “autopilot” so you don’t even need to drive.
It is good fun, without being too demanding.
There is also an easy platinum trophy (for those people who care about such things). It must have been easy if even I can do it.
Re: Unannounced Remake Project Added to Naughty Dog Employee's Resume
I would just like a copy of TLOU Part 2, that actually works on my PS5. Is that too much to ask?
Is it just me?
I have bought two different copies on disc.
They both installed properly, but neither of them will actually play.
“Something went wrong”.
Although, that said, I think I really would prefer an updated version of the original game at this point.
Trying to re-install TLOU2 on PS5, just now, as I type this. Out of curiosity.
And sure enough - black-and-white picture of “Angry Ellie”, fades to black.
And then……. Nothing.
Re: Video: How to Change PS5 Cover Plates
I had to remove - and reapply - my PS5 faceplate recently.
I installed an SSD into the expansion slot.
It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I was a bit nervous at first, but it came loose eventually. I thought the plate might break at first.
If anything, putting it back on was harder. Making sure that it stayed on.
If I was ever to change the faceplate, I would get a black one - because I just think it would look cool. But I have got used to the white panels now.
And every single other piece of AV hardware I have is also black - so it’s actually nice that the PS5 stands out from the crowd.
Plus, they show up the dust - so I do have to actually clean it occasionally.

Re: Best PS5 SSD 2022: Boost Your PS5 Storage Capacity
I am using the WD Black SN850 2TB version.
Expensive, but worth it.
Totally worth it.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.06 Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes
@PenguinL
It is a great game, overall.
Do not let a few minor bugs put you off. (And those seem to be being repaired as soon as they are discovered).
If we all did that, we would probably never play anything.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West?
I read through my previous comment, and realised I didn’t actually leave a score.
It has to be a 10/10 from me.
Having just finished it, and I immediately want to start all over again. The world is so vivid and fully-realised that I don’t want to leave.
For reference I would give Zero Dawn an 8.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West?
Excellent game. Finished it yesterday.
Waiting for them to add a New Game Plus.
Will definitely play it again soon.
