We've somehow made it to August already – where does the time go?! – and that means we're getting ever closer to the busiest time of year for new games. There are some huge titles headed our way over the next few months, so it's time to start planning which games you want to play and considering locking in a pre-order or two.
Below, we've put together our usual list of exciting games headed to both PS5 and PS4 over the next couple of months. You'll find some highlights hand-picked by us, as well as a larger selection of physical games that'll be available over the next few weeks. Enjoy!
Two Point Campus - August 9th
Originally planned to launch in May but pushed back to August, Two Point Campus is the latest entry in Sega and Two Point Studios' well-loved simulation series.
"Jam-packed with new creative tools" that'll no doubt help you build the university of your dreams, the game lets player develop an entire outdoor campus environment complete with all sorts of teaching facilities, pathways, plants, and more. The Enrolment edition comes with fancy packaging, a campus map, a university prospectus and bonus DLC!

Madden NFL 23 - August 19th
Back for another year, Madden NFL 23 touches down on PS5 and PS4 on August 19th.
Featuring "all-new ways to control your impact with every decision", Madden NFL 23 will let you call the shots in Franchise with free agency and trade logic updates. You'll be able to play your way into the history books in Face of the Franchise: The League and "assemble the most powerful roster in all of Madden Ultimate Team". Ooer.
The PS5 version of the game looks to be where it's at this year, with an all-new 'FieldSENSE' system promising "consistent, ultra-realistic gameplay" and "more control all over the field in every game mode". We'll have to wait until we get our hands on it to know for sure, but it sounds like 23 could be an exciting release.
Saints Row - August 23rd
Towards the end of the month we have Saints Row, an original title said to be "the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created."
Promising "extraordinary scenes and signature surprises," the game is set across the sprawling world of Santo Ileso. We'll let the official blurb take things from here:
As the future Boss, with Neenah, Kevin and Eli by your side, you’ll form The Saints – and take on Los Panteros, The Idols and Marshall as you build your empire across the streets of Santo Ileso and battle for control of the city. Ultimately Saints Row is the story of a start-up company, it’s just that the business The Saints are in happens to be crime.
The Last of Us Part I - September 2nd
A game that needs no introduction – although, yes, this is basically an introduction – is The Last of Us Part I, a remake of Naughty Dog's genre-defining epic that originally launched on PS3.
Everyone and their HD giraffe has their opinion on this one, but we're happy to let the new and improved gameplay do the talking when it launches on September 2nd. If you're already sold on this remake of Joel and Ellie's unforgettable adventure, you can order a copy below. More pre-order options are available here.
Stray (Physical Edition) - September 20th
The digital edition may already be available both on the PS Store and as part of your PS Plus subscription, but anyone wanting to pick up a physical copy of Stray can do so on September 20th.
Ever wanted to wander around cyberpunk towns and explore a gritty world as an adorable kitty? Well, now you can. More pre-order options are available here.
FIFA 23 - September 30th
And on the 30th, EA is launching its latest footie sim, and the last from the studio to bear the FIFA name.
FIFA 23 is said to be the “most ambitious” FIFA game ever, with more crossplay possibilities, new HyperMotion 2 tech, the introduction of women's club football and more elevating the game to new heights. Pre-orders are available below if you're ready for kick off, including the alternate cover Sam Kerr edition which is exclusive to Amazon UK. More pre-order options are available here.

August saints row
September
The last of us part 1
stray
FIFA 23
Got a physical store pre order for TLoU remake. I can't wait to play one of the greatest ever games all over again. I'd be all over the SR reboot if TLoUremake wasn't happening. Ragnarok and Callisto Protocol ain't to far away either. Plus RE4remake early next year. The SR reboot don't mind waiting on a digital PS store sale next year or maybe end of this year December sale
Ain’t no way y’all highlighted Two Point Campus over Valkyrie Elysium or Soul Hackers 2
The Last if Us Part I for me.
After that it'll be Hogwarts and God of War until 2023.
I like a short list these days. There's too much to do and too many games I already have that I want to play multiple times.
It was another strong week of sales for PlayStation 5 outselling both the Series X and S in all regions. 👏👏
What about Sword and Fairy Together Forever?
@Sqush-Pare
Of course it was as PS5 had good stock
And has the top end AAA exclusives.
I’ve noticed in the UK series x and s stock sales slowing right down and stock sitting in my local stores for weeks now.
Xbox need to get some big relevant AAA games out and do a bit of PR. Being honest it’s like they haven’t learnt much from the Xbox one days in some ways. No big AAA for the whole of 2022 is very poor Microsoft.
Starfield and Redfall hardly looked big AAA either in the showcase. Starfield outside and environmentally looked more bland than Halo Infinite. I tell them this on PureXbox and some are sort of agreeing a little bit now.
The only game type Xbox have nailed down is Forza Horizon 5, which I do think is their only big really true AAA all round, so far.
Sony, probably looking forward good do with a top end AAA exclusive in the FPS game type though.
After trying Frogun today, which is awful by the way, I'm actually tempted to buy TLOU Part I. At least I know that game will be good.
Honestly looks a little slim pickings for me on PS5 for August and September. Two Point will be a great time… on Gamepass. Sorry had to say it. About the only game on this list that I may get on PS5 the next two months is Diofield, but… also that could be a Switch game for me too, depending on how it plays in the demo.
The last of us has been out since 2013 lol
Most excited for Rollerdrome. Should be finished my first play through of Elden Ring by the time it’s released so will be a nice change of pace.
FIFA will be a Black Friday pickup.
Haven’t bought Madden in over a decade so might actually go for that if reviews are half decent, the new changes to Franchise mode seem solid.
Yes, but is the last of us part 1 remake a cash grab?
Alfred Hitchcock: Vertigo and last of us.
i was gona get saints row but i saw the clip it was um no just no lol.
could we not of had a chuck Norris type of dude and a Mr T tearing the place up.
loved watching their movies when i was growing up.
August: Saints Row and Soul Hacker 2.
September: Steel Rising and Evil West.
I’m not familiar with any of above titles (not even Saints Row) but they all look interesting and hopefully worth grabbing day one.
@Dezzy70 even in 2023 I recogn some xbox games will get delayed, and when we are talking about AAA xbox games only Bethesda games, Activision games, gears, Halo and forza come to mind from them, the rest I'd wager aren't really classed as high end AAA games, hellblade was an "indie" when it first released, the other titles such as recore, Ori, bleeding edge, psychonauts, Grounded etc don't class as AAA to me either. The outer worlds 2 would be AAA but other games such as Fable, state of decay just don't scream big budget AAA to me. Heck even the last halo game didn't feel like a big budget AAA game, it's visuals and open world we're just sub par, I've seen indie studios make better looking games.
And that's the most concerning part, these other games shouldnt be too hard to do, even nintendo churn out games at that level yearly without fail, xenoblade chronicles 3 being a perfect example of quality after four years from the previous title.
Three weeks 'till Saints!
Kind of feeling the urge to run through SR4 again. The problem is, if I do, I'll be compelled/obsessed with getting all 1400 something clusters again.
@UltimateOtaku91
I’m not sure what Microsoft and Xbox are really up to. Maybe more lower level AA games for game pass I guess I’m not sure.
There studios to take a long time like Halo 6 years, Starfield must be 6 years when it releases but it’s like the effort over those six years has not been put in AAA wise in all areas.
Ok HFW was 5 years I think and GOWR about the same but you can see where the effort and those 5 years have produced.
Anyway I have given up with Xbox, I don’t think they have a clue anymore, maybe the odd exception like FH5 for example, that is a good AAA and the only real AAA they have released.
Question : What PS5 and PS4 games will you be buying in August and September?
Me : I will pick these games:
Potion Permit
Zorro the Chronicles
Are You Smarter than 5th Graders?
Life in Willowdale
Cobra Kai 2
Bunny Park
Lemon Cake
Paw Patrol Grand Prix
Horse Club Adventures 2
Tin Hearts
I only play kids games.
@Dezzy70 HFW may have took 5 years but in that time they made the frozen wilds dlc, made HFW and the VR game.
The halo devs 343 also have twice the staff as santa Monica, so to say they took the same amount of time to make God of war Ragnarok will way less staff but produce a better product surely shows how poor 343 are
@UltimateOtaku91
It also shows how well managed and organised Sony have their studios and probably how well they micro manage their studios and big AAA projects.
I think Microsoft leave their Xbox studios to run around in the woods and play all day.
I would sack most of Xbox senior management employees including Phil Spencer, he needs to stop arsing around on line making love comments to Sony etc and work his Studio management team.
Unless it’s all a Microsoft plan to make average AA games for game pass then I guess Phil is doing as he is told.
August: Soul Hackers 2 and possibly Rollerdrome.
September: Trails From Zero and possibly Evil West.
October: A Plague Tale Requiem
Who said the fall is looking dry for game releases? I'm drowning here!
Last of Us Part II killed it for me so won't support the Cash Grab Part 1 for $70 and the Saints Row Woke no thanks story is just so stupid paying student loans lol and Madden 22 (17 in disguised)... This month doesn't have much!
I hope Saints Row doesn’t suck as that’s the only thing of interest to me for Aug and Sept, otherwise, it’s going to be a long wait for October and on.
August: Turtles Cowabunga collection & Cloudpunk
September: Evil West, The Ascent, Inertial Drift & maybe Trek to Yomi.
Decent couple of months before some big hitters to round off the year such as Callisto Protocol, GOW &....Goat simulator 3!!!!!
Rollerdrome for August,
TLOUS for September,
Plague Tale: Requiem for October,
God of War for November
December will be for leftovers before Xmas!
TLOU1 feels like a "cash grab" to me and I was disappointed in Part 2 but that said I'm kind of getting excited for the remake/remaster.
I want another reason to play Part 2, and some of the new accessibility and difficulty settings sound ideal for me.
I loved that you could tweak certain elements in the sequel and even things like the slow motion made for some really cool gameplay.
The Last of Us, for me. That’s all.
Mine’s already been preordered.
This will be the first Saints Row game that I actively ignore.
The rest of the stuff I am looking forward to is not out yet. Obviously.
This month I'll be picking up:
RimWorld Console Edition
and
Inscryption for PS4
Love a great indie and these are both high on my list.
RimWorld is one of my favorite PC games that is finally on consoles. A true city builder/story simulator in outer space.
and
Inscryption is a fantastic card game unlike anything I've played before. It is from the same guy that did "Hex" and "Pony Island" and I am really looking forward to playing it again. This time on PS4. If you like "Slay the Spire" or "Monster Train", give this game a shot as it will blow your mind.
Saints Row (from previews) looks like it has the worst, most cringy, vomit inducing dialogue of any game ever released, it seemed truly atrocious...
but I'm still probably going to buy it 😭😭😭
@Anti-Matter Cobra Kai 2 seems a little intense for you, no? It's rated 12!
Didn’t see Midnight Fight Express or PAC-Man World: Re-PAC
Glad I have a big back catalogue of games....
and a Switch...
@mrraditch
Oh, I also play a few rated Teen / CERO B / PEGI 12 games, depend on the title. But mostly I play kids games.
@Anti-Matter can I ask why you only play kids games ? Is it just that you have no interest in other games ? Or play with your kids?
I'm only curious and asking is all
@KingPev
I'm single and will be always single.
I have no interest in making family and having kids.
I play kids games for myself, as an adult man.
This is the reason why I only play kids, I have dark history when I was kid.
I hate every single rated M games.
The games with gory, gritty, bloody, ultra violences, coarse language, dark theme, criminal, bullying, drugs, alcoholic drinks, cigarette, horror, psychopath peoples, pornography, etc are the things I banned from video games. I still remember correctly when I was kid and I visited my auntie house and she played a horror movie (without realizing) with gory and bloody things. I watched it alone while she was busy with her work and I quit watching after I felt really scared and then when I saw a plastic cabinet in my auntie house, suddenly I imagined that was the devilish creature I saw from that horror movie and it made me scared. Also, I remembered correctly on other situation when I still kid and visiting mall together with my parents, I accidentally saw and stared at bloody fighting games from video games rent over there for quite long and it made me really uncomfortable. Couldn't believe I was so naive when I was kid and have to experience with such things like that. As I grew up, I felt angry to recall my past experience, I felt guilty to have to experience in such situation like that and i made a bold statement to hate and against with every single rated M stuffs. They are really dangerous toxin with no positive effects whatsoever and I don't even consider them as entertainment. And that's why I only play kids games with a little bit of Teen games to enrich my gaming experience as long they are still appropriate enough to watch and play by kids and teenagers. I only play rated Everyone, Everyone 10+, Teen, CERO A, CERO B, PEGI 3, PEGI 7, PEGI 12 games with main focus on cartoonish looking games since I don't like ultra realistic looking graphics like FF XV or Horizons. And that's the reason you see a cute Chibi Boxers that I made by myself as my avatar. 🙂
@Anti-Matter that's amazing my friend and I totally understand your reply and rationale. You're right - video games are violent and depressing sometimes ( although I.play most of them ha ha ) so good on you for showing games are for everyone and all tastes. I read your posts on here and your passion for your games truly stands out
