Re: Sony: We Haven't Forgotten Why the PS4 Was Successful

LuckyLand

I want consoles to have backward compatibility and to avoid crazy and stupid limitations in their functionality like the Switch unfortunately does (and to make things even worse Nintrendo want to use some of those limitations for greedy purposes too)
This is all I ask to a console

Re: Soapbox: Sometimes, the Best Games Are the Simplest

LuckyLand

I like Lumines a lot but usually I don't like this kind of games. Usually my favourite type of game is a middle way, games with a story and with characters but not too much developed, so that I actually have a fictional world to immerse myself into but at the same time I can imagine all the details the way I like the most. Usually when developers want to say too much I feel like they are forcing those contents (that for me are redundant) down my throat and I don't like it. Expecially because it turns out that very often developers have a taste that I don't appreciate. For example I hate Devil may cry and only because I hate Dante. If they didn't go that far with him maybe I could have enjoyed that game at least a little more.

Re: Sony: We Need to Cater to All People, Regardless of Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Ethnicity, or Belief

LuckyLand

@KirbyTheVampire " I simply can't agree with the idea that you have to agree with and support everything about a person."

Even more important imo, the fact that one does not support something does not necessarily mean one is actively against it. I mean often people these days think and talk like if you don't care about something is the same thing as if you were against it. This is absolutely not true and this is really annoying in my opinion. People should be free to care about their own business and that does not mean they are bad towards others. Being bad/disrespectful means that someone actively does something bad.

Re: We Want to Make People Think and Laugh and Cry, Says Sony

LuckyLand

@KratosMD in my opinion, probably Sony is much better in this particular genre than in others, and that would be perfectly fine. The problem is that right now everybody, not just Sony but third party developers too, are all focused in this kind of games when it comes to high budget games. So in the end all those games tend to be very similar and to not offer a varied enough experience. That's unfortunate and it is not a fault of Sony of course but of the industry in general. Many people appreciate those games anyway so this formula today is very succesful anyway, but those who want more variety feel that something is missing. I'm not saying that it must be Sony the one who make games of different genres, as I said they probably are much better at story driven adventures than anything else (just like Nintendo is best at platformers and arcade games than other genres) but there should be at least somebody else amongst the 3rd party developers who try to do high budget games of a different kind.

Re: We Want to Make People Think and Laugh and Cry, Says Sony

LuckyLand

Many games both by Sony and Nintendo makes me laugh (usually with the time-wasting toys, I love games that are really games and proud to be games, so toys basically), Child of Eden always makes me cry (it often makes me so much ecstatic that I cry because of that), Ico and Eternal darkness made me think.
Anyway, in my opinion there should always be many games that are much less focused on their narratives. Some story driven games are good, but when they become too many at the expense of others something is lost. Something important for me. This is the thing that I really dislike about Sony - don't get me wrong I like Sony as a whole I don't want people to misunderstand me, I just don't like how much effort they put mostly on games that heavily focuses on stories and narratives. I'd like their offering to be more balanced with some more high budget games of a different kind too.

Re: Ten Years Ago Today, the First PlayStation Trophy Was Unlocked

LuckyLand

Today people take pictures with their smartphones not to look at them and enjoy them personally but to send them to all their friends (and anybody else they can reach too) and they play games not to enjoy games personally but to unlock some notifications to show to other people online.
Probably it's just that I'm totally selfish but when I do something I do it only for me and for the personal pleasure and enjoyment I get from it.

Re: Sony Explains Its First, Best, Must Philosophy to PS4 Exclusives

LuckyLand

@David187 I am not a fan of XBox for sure. I have hated so much the first two XBox consoles that I have not even tried the XBox one. I just don't want anything to do with XBox consoles at this point. I just don't like this modern way to conceive games, with characters that look too much like real life people, with narratives and structure that try to mimic movies, with narrative elements that are imposed to player instead of letting them imagine the details the way they prefer... I just don't like, for the most part, this new way of making games. In older games everything was much more idealized and also less defined so the player was also able to "fill the gaps" imagining things the way he liked the most, but today they always try to get so close to reality that the games and the characters become boring and everything about them is so detailed in the cutscenes, in the dialogues, in how much the plot is developed, that usually I just can't suffer them.

Re: Sony Explains Its First, Best, Must Philosophy to PS4 Exclusives

LuckyLand

If you create a game that is the first of its genre, how can you know if it is the best or not? You have to see other similar games to objectively decide how good it is.
Also, Uncharted is not "best" in anything. Some God of war games are absolute masterpieces (some, not all of them), but Uncharted is really forgettable if you ask me.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

LuckyLand

@Cloud7794 Nintendo is disrespecting their users and their own consoles with their decisions about the online service (Retrogames and saves backups will be available only for those who pay the subscription. This is INSULTING!!!). I have both Switch and PS4, I was a hardcore Nintendo fan until I fully realized what they are trying to do with this online subscription and I can say that Nintendo right now is a lot worse than Sony. I'd really wish it was the opposite but Nintendo is really behaving like a****les right now.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

LuckyLand

I never play online, I only play games that are single player or at least have single player modes, I never play multiplayer modes, so I really don't care at all about this thing. I just want to avoid multiplayer (expecially online multiplayer) no matter what, I really hate it.

Re: Review: SEGA Mega Drive Classics (PS4)

LuckyLand

@Dpishere As far as I know Sega Ages on Switch will be even better, they will be improved versions of classic games (like Sega 3D classics on 3DS, extremely faithful but also with improvements and additions) and some of those games will be the arcade versions not just the console version. I hope that Golden Axe will be the arcade version because it is so much better, it has gorgeous graphics and it is even easier than the console version (really weird imho, arcade games were made to suck all your coins, it would have been more reasonable to make the home version easier imho)

Re: Review: SEGA Mega Drive Classics (PS4)

LuckyLand

@JoeBlogs Sonic 2 (the only classic Sonic game that I don't like) is much more frustrating than Sonic 3, and also in all the best Sonic games there are some stages where you can't always run (for example Marble Zone in Sonic 1, the best Sonic game ever made).
I'm not complaining about the absence of Sonic 3&K because Sonic 1 is the best, but Sonic 3&K is a very good game anyway and it feels weird that they didn't put it here. I never had the feeling that it was frustrating or unfair, Sonic 2 is much worse.

Re: Guide: New PS4 Games Releasing in June 2018

LuckyLand

I will probably buy Lumines, but I have yet to decide if I buy it on PS4 or on Switch. I'd like to boycott on Switch those games that I can buy elsewhere because I don't like how Nintendo is behaving with the online subscription (trying to force it even on those people who are not interested in multiplayer), but Lumines would be very good to have in portable format...

Re: Review: SEGA Mega Drive Classics (PS4)

LuckyLand

@themcnoisy on Steam you can buy every single game separately, it is the same thing as far as I know except the fact on consoles you buy it as a whole package, on Steam you get the program once you buy the first retrogame and you find only the retrogames you choose to buy into it, so probably it refers to the Steam version

Re: Review: Space Hulk: Deathwing (PS4)

LuckyLand

I don't like fps games, but I like the look of this game, it seems really cool and evocative. Since I'm not a fan of the genre I don't care that much if the actual quality of the game is not the best, I think I will try this one when it is on sale.

Re: Feature: The Best PS2 Classics That Need to Come to PS4

LuckyLand

God of war 2
Soul Calibur 3

But PS2 graphics on modern tv looks worse than it looked on old tv of the PS2 era so maybe Sony don't release PS2 games because of that, they fear they could disapppoint some people.
That's too bad, and at least God of war 2 would deserve a remaster if they really don't dare to publish it in the same old version

Re: God of War's First Boss Fight Was Originally Two to Three Times Longer

LuckyLand

I'm so glad they cut it. It does not even feel like a real boss fight (it is more similar to a cutscene honestly) and it is far too long even as it is. Honestly I didn't like this part of the game that much, it becomes boring and trite soon. At some point I felt like I was watching one of those filler episodes in Dragon Ball Z...
The game is fantastic but it has some flaws, and this is one of the worst imho.

Re: Review: Dragon's Crown Pro (PS4)

LuckyLand

I would love to love this game, but the character's movements are so fast and floaty that are completely immersion breaking for me. I'm completely unable to feel the character I'm using, to feel his presence in the environment. He just float everywhere like a toy. I don't like this kind of gameplay. Also the lighting effects are way too strong and often ruin the gorgeous artwork behind them. Everything else in this game is fantastic. I'm really tempted to buy it but I already bought it on PS3 and PS Vita and everytime I hated it because of those two problems...

Re: Soapbox: Why God of War Will Scratch Your Zelda Itch

LuckyLand

Some puzzles and some features of the game reminded me of Zelda games too, but other things are veey different. The overall structure of the game has many similarities but at the same time is very different in other things. In this game there is a lot less exploration, everything (be it puzzle, fight or anything else) is a lot easier and faster to find and get to and the pace of the game is a lot faster because of that, you feel like caught in the midfle of the adventure. In Zelda there is usually much more exploration and you feel like you are lost in the middle of the game and need to figure things out and search for the various challenges before facing them

Re: Stormdivers is the New Game from Nex Machina Dev Housemarque

LuckyLand

The setting looks beautiful but if the game is focused only on multiplayer then I'm not interested. I buy games with my own money, I want those games to be enjoyable all by myself too. I don't invest money in things that cannot be used by just me alone. It's sad because this game looks really good.

Re: Guide: Best God of War Games Ranked

LuckyLand

I love God of war 2, it is one of the best games of all time and the best action game so far for me.
Instead I don't like God of war 3.
I think that both God of war 1 and Ghost of Sparta are better than God of war 3. But the only thing that matters is that I absolutely love GOW 2 and I hope the new one is going to be as good as GOW2. Better is just simply impossible imho.

Re: Review: Devil May Cry HD Collection (PS4)

LuckyLand

The story is somewhat campy? The story and characters are so campy that they completely ruin the atmosphere for me. I'd like an action game with the setting and atmosphere of DMC1 but DMC is just too bad taste unfortunately.

Re: Soapbox: Why You Should Play Shenmue I & II on PS4

LuckyLand

Never tried it but never felt the need to either. It is just not apoealing for me. When I play a "slice of life" kind of game I prefer games with fantasy settings like The Elder Scrolls. If I wanted realistic slice of life I could just turn off my consoles and take a walk down the street. I just don't like realism and find it pointless to play realistic games.

Re: Shenmue I & II Searching for Sailors on PS4 in 2018

LuckyLand

I'm disappointed. I don't like Shenmue it's not about quality I just don't like it and don't care about it, it's jst a matter of taste. At least by the end of may we will have the Megadrive collection and this is something I'm really looking forward to.
