NIS America has announced that its RPG creation game, imaginatively named RPG Maker MV, is heading to Western PS4s in 2019. The trailer above doesn't feature much in the way of gameplay, but it hints at some of the variety you'll be able to tinker with.
The RPG Maker series does exactly what it says on the tin: it allows players to build their very own role-playing games from component parts, with much of the difficult stuff cut out. You don't need to be a programmer, in other words - you can build worlds from hundreds of assets and adjust combat and other parameters to get everything just how you like.
Details are thin on the ground, but RPG Maker MV has already been out on PC for a couple of years, so there are plenty of examples of the sort of games that can be made using its tools. Will you be giving it a go on PS4 next year? Create your very own comments in the comment section below.

This would be a lot cooler if Dreams wasn't a thing.
sweet sounds like a blast
Man. We going back to PSone era. Can we bring back Music, too?
Poor trailer.
@Enuo Can you really build RPGs in Dreams, though?
@Ralizah You can build what you want. 😁 😃
@get2sammyb ha ha loved Music on the ps1. I remember spending hours building a track on that and then playing it to my then girlfriend. She said it sounded a bit like fecal matter being stuffed into a bagpipe!! Suffice to say we didn’t last long.
Yeah man. Music was brill. I remember making a dance track which i thought was pretty cool and called it 'Amy's Dream'. However, when I played it for my mates, they said it sounded like James Bond. I was gutted.
Anyway, this RPG maker sounds pretty good.
@stupidget Let's watch the language please.
We can get a splitter and run dreams for the graphics, music and backgrounds. Use RPG maker for the game logic and menus and boom....
Pushsquare the game. Sammy goes into battle whipping Robert, slapping Steven, wedgeing Alex, and putting Simon in a sleeper hold until they pump out good reviews. Needless to say the game is based on real life he just hasnt got around to Liam yet.
@themcnoisy ha😂👏
Looks neat but I have a feeling this game is not gonna sell on Xbox.
@Enuo I think this will be a lot more fast and easy to use than Dreams since it is much more focused on only one type of game.
@Ralizah
You really can, some were making RPGs in LBP! The tool set provided in Dreams is far more impressive, so expect creations to be on a whole other level.
Anyone know if this game will have a shared community? Cuz that would be cool, that the biggest draw for me to dreams, to see what everyone can make. I dont think I have the patience, time, creativity to make a game, but I can't wait to see what others will do.
@LieutenantFatman I really need to check out LBP3. Ive owned for awhile, maybe got it through psplus, but never played it much.
@ellsworth004
It's a good game but the first two games are brilliant and definitely better. They were made by Media Molecule who then moved on to Dreams, LBP3 is by a different developer.
The main questions are
nice but without external assets this will fall short
@hotukdeals How could they implement the external assets?
