Housemarque, the very talented studio behind some of the best arcade games of the last few years, has announced its new game. It's called Stormdivers, and as promised, it's a large step away from the developer's comfort zone.
The teaser trailer embedded above shows off a highly detailed forest environment, as well as some futuristic-looking structures and the beginnings of a lightning storm. Also teased is a mysterious figure that disintegrates into nothing. The only context for any of this is in the description of the video, which reads, "Housemarque's first gaming experience of a new era. A high flying and heavy hitting multiplayer centric experience".
A multiplayer focused Housemarque game? It certainly has potential, but we'll obviously need to wait and see. Hopefully we'll learn more soon about this intriguing project.
What do you make of this announcement? Are you interested in Stormdivers? Do you think multiplayer is the right direction for Housemarque? Don't rain on anyone's parade in the comments below.

I’ll try it. Their programming skills are amazing. If it can be as responsive and fluid as nex machina it’ll definitely be worth my time
Lol, well that revealed absolutely nothing. Can I have that minute back please?
well at least its not another twin stick shooter. I won't be interested if its MP focussed but that doesn't mean I won't buy if it has some MP aspect.
The setting looks beautiful but if the game is focused only on multiplayer then I'm not interested. I buy games with my own money, I want those games to be enjoyable all by myself too. I don't invest money in things that cannot be used by just me alone. It's sad because this game looks really good.
MP focussed? pass.
as for it being the right direction?
hell no!
if they want to have good sales again than they should make SP focussed games as those are the most requested.
Garbage name lol.
I'll always be interested in what Housemarque do (I wanted Sony to buy them after all) but it's such a shame that they have to resort to following a trend because people didn't buy their games. Which is ridiculous considering they made some of the best games of the last two generations.
From what I know about the game it is the opposite of what made me love Housemarque games. Another online focused team based game. The major players like Blizzard and co can do that better. Housemarque should focus on unique games and not try to get a part of the big cake. There are only crumbs left
@get2sammyb Is it even certain that this game comes for PS4? The alpha test was PC only. There was no mention of a PS4 version. But this can change of course.
The teaser doesn’t show much, but it does look beautiful. Despite the ‘multiplayer focused’ aspect, I’m a little bit curious.
Multiplayer focused game? No thank you. O Lord please deliver us from this multiplayer storm.
Sad to see them move away from their fantastic arcade games, hopefully this new direction will be excellent as well.
Could very well be a battle royale type game. Looks interesting tho
EG did some digging. Seems it probably will be a battle royale game.
Multiplayer centrum...... If it does not have a storymode im not going to buy it. 🤨😐😥
@LieutenantFatman That's really sad, if true.
I was on board until you said multiplayer.
The most generic name. Eh, sounds like a spiritual successor to Alienation which I didn’t like. Hope it’s more of a Dead Nation.
I always like their games.
Storm Divers sounds like a program from Channel 5.
Well, as far as useless trailers go, that's right up there with the best of them! Don't get me wrong, I've loved (most of) their previous work, but that trailer provides absolutely nothing; it's more of an engine demo than anything else.
But if it's multi-player centric, I doubt I'll be bothering unless it's co-op.
It sounded pretty cool until I got to the mp centric title part yeah I’m out.
Im ready for mp focused game. Best times with housemarque’s alienation mp sessions!
I love Housemarque's games but I need to see more. This trailer didn't do anything for me. The idea that it may be a battle royale type game is close to a deal breaker. I'll have to see more.
Multiplayer? No thanks.
We all knew this was coming after they announced their retirement from the arcade-game genre.
Anyway, hard pass from me. I don't play games like this.
Boo, hiss...
Calling it now: Battle Royal Game, Storm being outer boundary, some crazy creature stalking inside it. So basicly a mashup of "HUNT Showdown" and "Fortnite".
@get2sammyb Yeah it should have been Divers of the Storm XD
