Re: Did You Know There's An Easy Way to Turn Off Your PS4 Controller?

Liberty____1st

My R1 button is always on. I don't know why or how to fix it. I've taken the pad apart and can't see any reason for it. I've left the R1 button out when putting back together and it suffers the same issue. I have to turn off my pad every time I load up a game otherwise my pad doesn't work so for me this might prove to be a time saver. Yeah it's annoying as hell and I need a new pad. I just can't find one cheap enough for my tastes at the moment and I'm planning on getting a ps5 so don't want to spend nearly 50 beans on one.

Re: E3 2020 Is About to Be Cancelled

Classic flu strawman nonsense is everywhere. Probably propagated by the Russian troll factories that brought us brexit and trumpet.
The flu obviously has killed more people worldwide in the last year than covid19, but it's not really infected that many people yet.
2 weeks ago Italy had around 300 cases and 4 deaths. I'm not saying panic, I am saying take this seriously because while I'm sure everyone here will be fine, your older relatives might not be.
We have no immunity to this virus and unlike the flu -which has at risk groups given a mixed strain vaccine - there is no vaccine.

So wash your hands and don't read Russian propaganda.

Re: Fallout 4 Looks Indistinguishable in Mind Blowing Dreams Creation

Well...I see dreams as a huge opportunity for people who want to make video games. They can create chapter 1 or a prequel to a game and then crowd fund for a commercial release or get their idea picked up by a studio in the same way.
That's the final destination for the software imo and I'll enjoy having the opportunity to faff around with it and create something truely pointless that no one will ever play.. Maybe a dipping doritoes on a train game. Who knows? The sky is the limit.

Re: NHS Wants Devs to Think of the Children as Loot Boxes Prep Kids for Gambling Addiction

Liberty____1st

@ellsworth004 why don't we take that line with everything then? Yeah crack dealers giving kids free samples during their lunch break is crappy but until we get around to banning that practice it's up to parents to keep their kids in line.
This whole discussion should be framed as why haven't the UK government banned this yet? In FIFA they give away free card drops to entice people to buy the ability to open more cards, whole I strongly think that parents have some responsibility- eg don't top your kids accounts up and actively explain to them what gambling is and why it's a mugs game simply being exposed to the excitement of the free drop can be enough to start rewiring a young brain to look for this kind of dopamine hit in the future.
It needs to be banned at once,it's a disgusting practice which is an incredibly bad deal for players, that's enough of a reason to dislike it. The fact it's targeted at children is plenty of reason to ban it.

Re: Beat Saber Surpasses One Million Sales as First DLC Arrives on PSVR

Great game, I'm not into electronic dance music and felt a little disappointed with the expansion songs to begin with but it fits the game very well and the expansion note maps are very good, especially on expert mode where you feel like you're making the music happen.
I just wish I could find an ingenious way to drink fluid while playing rather than having to remember to pull myself out for a pint of water every 30-45m. Oh and a guide to cleaning your psvr headset would be extremely useful lol..

Re: Indie Bin: Senran Kagura, Switchblade, FutureGrind

This is a cool feature, big games get loads of coverage everywhere, you guys looking through a bunch of smaller games is really useful. I'll probably try out switchblade as my brother and I are always looking for new games to try online and still play rocket league regularly.

Thanks!

Re: Hands On: Dreams Is Arguably PS4's Most Impressive Exclusive Yet

Liberty____1st

Yet another game I wish had been out 20 years ago when I would've had the time to properly use. I also never really enjoyed lbp.. Not really sure why that's relevant tho as this seems to have very little in common.

However, I fully intend to get this at some point to enjoy the creations of others. You're effectively paying one fee to play an unlimited number of different games, lots will be naff, most will be short (suits me!) but some will be incredible and I can't understand why some people aren't at all interested in this release. Sure it might not be a day one purchase, you might get it second hand or on sale, but to say you have no interest in it at all seems to me to be ridonkulous.

People are going to make incredible games with this, I can't wait.

Re: Where Can You Buy PlayStation Move Controllers for PSVR?

Liberty____1st

Wow this is crazy. I'm glad I bought mine when I got my psvr with superhot in a cheap argos bundle. Nearly got wipe out and left the moves for another time. Same thing with the aim. I bought firewall with the aim controller on day 1 in a £50 bundle and now they are in short supply.

I think Sony aren't making many as they are thanking their lucky stars they managed to shift the warehouse full of the ps3 moves and don't want to have a bunch of them lying around when the new controllers come out.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR Bargain Adventure - One Man's Attempt to Reclaim His Gaming Glory Days

Great article. As a married father of a 3 yr old I completely understand your point of view. I do have a psvr and it is great fun. I game for 5-6hrs a week and while I could play more I choose not to because of priorities ultimately. I choose my son over gaming, obviously, that leaves me with 3hrs while he's asleep and I'm awake a day haha. It's easy to see why dad's of younger children either don't game or game a limited amount of time.

I similarly had 4 days when they went on holiday without me and I thought I'd finally finish the witcher 3 and the last of us (foolish buys when on sale, why did I think I'd ever have the time! and don't get me started on red dead redemption 2) and found that it was a nostalgic dream, until I randomly opened journey and had a magical 2hrs.

I've realised that for me, shorter experiences - those under 10hrs - is my sweet spot.
