Re: 8+ New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Confirmed for October 2025 on PS5, PS4

Kiryu-Chan

@UltimateOtaku91

The amount of games isn't really relevant. If you enjoy it, 8 or 9 games in a series can be an amazing thing.

I started with Yak 3 in 2020, played 0,1,2,4,5,6 almost immediately one after the other, then LAD on PS4 & 5 (platted on both PS4 & 5). Judgement (PS4&5) Lost Judgment(PS4&5), Ishin (PS4&5), The Man Who Erased his Name (PS4&5) LAD: Infinite Wealth (PS4&5) and Pirate Yakuza.. on PS5 with a PS4 playthrough to come as platinum 400 and have loved them all and in 5 years RGG has become the one studio I will pre-order the game regardless.

Worst case you try it and it's not for you. But give it a try, I'm a fan, the pic and username are fairly obvious hints and we love it for a reason

Re: Horizon Hatred Simmers Once More As Sony Announces Movie Adaptation

Kiryu-Chan

I played and platinumed Zero Dawn, FW and Call of the Mountain. Perfectly enjoyable but not my favourite game series however I bear it no ill will and would play a third mainline game.

To be honest, I wouldn't even hear about the series if I didn't frequent this site so confused about the brute force comments. It's perfectly reasonable to not enjoy something and give an opinion on it but no one is forcing anything on anyone.

And whilst I accept that this is not always the case, unfortunately, I suspect most of the criticism comes from a more nefarious place (like most things on X) and is less related to game quality, narrative, world etc and more to with the main character.

Re: Unsurprisingly, GTA 6 Projected to Make a Staggering Amount of Money

Kiryu-Chan

I really don't understand the fuss over GTA these days. I played the series up to IV (including the remastered trilogy) and seem to be the only gamer alive not to play V but it just really didn't interest me. I doubt I'll play VI either. For me GTA is in the same category as Fifa (now FC) or COD without the annual facelift. An easily identifiable casual game for the masses. It's very likely I'll be always busy playing something else to ever get on board

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Developer of 2024

Kiryu-Chan

@Mincey0 - I'm not looking to argue with you. I haven't played Astro Bot. I will based on all the positive feedback I've heard from gaming sites, people etc which is obviously hard to ignore, that said like most films that win oscars, they're rarely the best films out that year. So I do want to know what games aren't herd mentality from your perspective and what your top games of 2024 are. Maybe there's something I've not encountered that's worth playing.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Developer of 2024

Kiryu-Chan

@Mincey0 - Herd not Hurd, unless it's a vague critique of Margaret Thatcher's former Home Secretary.

I haven't played it but, for what it's worth, Astro Bot is unanimously considered a brilliant game by pretty much every respectable gaming publication going. I'm curious what game you like that is not an example of herd mentality

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Developer of 2024

I really don't get the fuss about Atlus, I played Persona 5 Royal and it was a poor experience for me, it just seemed really boring and it was a massive slog to complete similar in ways to Shenmue 1 & 2. Maybe I missed something and the life simulator aspect wasn't really for me, it's a shame as they seem to be very popular on this site but I just can't comprehend it. Really looking forward to Astro bot mind.

I'm not hugely bothered by this particular vote but curious why Game Science was a nominee and the game didn't even enter the top 10 of game of the year and RGG isn't there.

Re: Expect PS Portal's Glacial Rollout of New Features to Continue

Kiryu-Chan

I bought one soon after it came out even though I didn't really have much cause to use it....then I started spending more time at my girlfriend's house and it really came into its own....been around to family members houses and can play it there too, totally worth it for me and it's kind of become essential for me to while away those obligatory christmas holiday appearances

Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Just Keeps on Getting Bigger

Kiryu-Chan

@Andy22385 I agree Andy, I've platinumed them all and used to enjoy the challenge (some of the side activities I don't miss though!) of the 100% aspect. I feel like I'm the only person who likes Mahjong!

Looking at the positive, I've gained more hours of my life back as a result though.

instant pre-order for me this. Looks like a hoot

Re: Game of the Year: #3 - Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Kiryu-Chan

@UltimateOtaku91 I find it hard to believe, even objectively, that there were 10 better games than this one in 2024 but I get it wasn't for you.

On the topic of Ishin, if you find the series silly and bloated then give Ishin a wide berth. It's the worst of the series by far and whilst that still means it's still
a good game, the story is the least accessible as it focuses on a particular period of Japanese history and the grind in general and for the platinum, if you are interested in that, is ludicrous (I've done it twice).

Easily game of the year for me. Exceptional game, great characters, a decent story ane so much variety in terms of things to do and just a joy to play and platinum. I shall be re-platinuming it ahead of the release of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Would have loved to have seen it get first place and if not that then 2nd behind Astro Bot, which I have not played yet but seems universally adored, would have been a fair outcome.

I won't complain too much though, seeing a Like A Dragon game getting this much love brings me much joy.

Re: RGG Summit 2024 Will Give Us the Latest from the Like a Dragon Team in September

Kiryu-Chan

@Leon_93 - I share your hope however I think the Judg(e)ment series is done with Yagami as protagonist. The whole issue about the rights with Takuya Kimura's agency, Johnny and Associates and then the furore regarding the abuse scandal seems to have killed this off. If anything, I'd imagine they'd do it with Kaito, Suigura and Tsukomo and suggest Yagami is dealing with a case elsewhere or some such.

Personally, literally any news will be of interest to me but I am hoping for Yakuza Kiwami 3 as Yakuza 3 was my entry to the games in 2020. I wouldn't mind a Kenzan remaster either.

I played Ishin, TMWEHM and Infinite Wealth already doing the PS5 versions and I can't wait to replay the PS4 versions from scratch so that will tide me over until whatever is announced comes out.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?

Kiryu-Chan

You should never hear Yong's voice as Kiryu should be heard as Takaya Kuroda, end of.

It feels like a massive game but this is never ever a critique and should only be seen as positive. 43 hours in, chapter 5 and just did the Hawaiian Haunt labyrinth. The new characters are excellent and the game is awesome. This game couldn't be too big. My original goal was to plat before 29th Feb and FF7 Rebirth but at this point I don't care and happy to play this as long as it takes (including the master vacation bundle). Then I'll plat the PS4 version later in the year.

Re: Preview: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Is the First PS5 Must-Play of 2024

Kiryu-Chan

I.simply cannot wait to play this game. My game of the year already and will be booking time off to jump into ultimate edtion.

@itsfoz, I'm not sure it has a western AAA equivalent. It's its own thing. Lazy comparisons with GTA historically, but it's so much different.

@bez87, shame you wont play it because of that but clearly these RPG style Like A Dragon games are not for you if you find them boring. They have done 11 games since the PS4 where that type of fighting was prevalent, I'm personally happy they introduced something to keep it fresh.

Re: Push Square Readers' 20 Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2024

Kiryu-Chan

Like A Dragon: IW is my game of the year already (unsurprising considering my username and profile pic) as there's no way I won't love it. FF7 rebirth is pre-ordered so that will be Q1 of 2024 taken care of and most of Q2 will be filled with RE4, LAD: Ishin and LAD: Gaiden when I replay them and get the platinums for the PS4 version of those games to go with the PS5 plats.

The rest of the year will be made up of 2023's games (FF16, Spider-Man 2, Dead Space etc) I didn't get around to as not much else excites in the list.

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

Kiryu-Chan

@fiendish-beaver 'The only reason that Spiderman won out is because more people will have played it (and some will have voted for the game without having played it just to show support for a first party game. Probably not many, but doubtless some will have)',

Your passion for a game you clearly love is great but this assumes that if every gamer had played both games, they would have preferred BG3. I don't know how you can realistically state this when BG3 is a CRPG based on DnD rules and therefore far less likely to appeal to a wider audience and far less accessible. I know tons of people who like Spider-Man, I know one who likes CRPGs/DnD and expressed excitement for this game. Whilst I'm not necessarily representative of any wider gaming group, I'm far more interested in Spider-Man 2 than BG3 (and I spent most of the year playing Final Fantasy games), and I would suspect a number of people feel the same.

The comment about people voting for it without playing it is baseless and sounds like sour grapes that 'your' game didn't win a pointless internet poll.

Besides, does it really matter? You think it's the best game ever...isn't that enough?

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

Kiryu-Chan

@Nepp67 I didn't really notice any issues with the combat system but to each their own. You're also entitled to your opinion, of course, but don't call it DLC when it wasn't. Yes it's shorter than previous Yakuza/Like A Dragon/Judgement games but whilst it may have started life as DLC (as RGG advised) it grew beyond that and I managed to get 60hours of playtime out of it.
