Not great, however, I pre-ordered the ultimate edition months ago anyway so won't affect me.
I shan't let Sega's stupidity affect my purchases of LAD games as I genuinely think they are the best out there and it's likely not RGGs decision to do this.
@Svark maybe, like some other times they have used a real life location in a game, it's meant to be a bit different, e.g. Kamurocho/Kabukicho, Sotenbori/Dotenbori, Tsukimino/Susukino etc etc
I.simply cannot wait to play this game. My game of the year already and will be booking time off to jump into ultimate edtion.
@itsfoz, I'm not sure it has a western AAA equivalent. It's its own thing. Lazy comparisons with GTA historically, but it's so much different.
@bez87, shame you wont play it because of that but clearly these RPG style Like A Dragon games are not for you if you find them boring. They have done 11 games since the PS4 where that type of fighting was prevalent, I'm personally happy they introduced something to keep it fresh.
Like A Dragon: IW is my game of the year already (unsurprising considering my username and profile pic) as there's no way I won't love it. FF7 rebirth is pre-ordered so that will be Q1 of 2024 taken care of and most of Q2 will be filled with RE4, LAD: Ishin and LAD: Gaiden when I replay them and get the platinums for the PS4 version of those games to go with the PS5 plats.
The rest of the year will be made up of 2023's games (FF16, Spider-Man 2, Dead Space etc) I didn't get around to as not much else excites in the list.
@fiendish-beaver 'The only reason that Spiderman won out is because more people will have played it (and some will have voted for the game without having played it just to show support for a first party game. Probably not many, but doubtless some will have)',
Your passion for a game you clearly love is great but this assumes that if every gamer had played both games, they would have preferred BG3. I don't know how you can realistically state this when BG3 is a CRPG based on DnD rules and therefore far less likely to appeal to a wider audience and far less accessible. I know tons of people who like Spider-Man, I know one who likes CRPGs/DnD and expressed excitement for this game. Whilst I'm not necessarily representative of any wider gaming group, I'm far more interested in Spider-Man 2 than BG3 (and I spent most of the year playing Final Fantasy games), and I would suspect a number of people feel the same.
The comment about people voting for it without playing it is baseless and sounds like sour grapes that 'your' game didn't win a pointless internet poll.
Besides, does it really matter? You think it's the best game ever...isn't that enough?
@Nepp67 I didn't really notice any issues with the combat system but to each their own. You're also entitled to your opinion, of course, but don't call it DLC when it wasn't. Yes it's shorter than previous Yakuza/Like A Dragon/Judgement games but whilst it may have started life as DLC (as RGG advised) it grew beyond that and I managed to get 60hours of playtime out of it.
Looks incredible. My favourite thing to do with the Like A Dragon / Yakuza games since the release of the PS5 is to acheive the platinum for the PS5 version then play the PS4 version and do the same from scratch. I very much look forward to doing this with Infinite Wealth.
My favourite game series by far. Pre-ordered as soon as it became available. Spent 3 hours playing koi koi as soon as I got to Yokohama and now I've found the Mahjong parlour, I won't be progressing the main story for a while.
I visited both Kabukicho and Dotenbori when I went to Japan in August....don't think I've ever geeked out so much in my life.
I went to the batting centre, had takoyaki at gindaco highball tavern, went to Yoshinori for a beef bowl. 'theatre square', Don Quijote, played the UFO catcher game and Taiko no Tatsujin at the arcade, had a 30min blast on karaoke on 'Nakamichi st' and went to the 'champion district' aka Golden Gai...literally was like a Yakuza series list to tick off. Amazing
The games were garbage. The remasters were 2 of the most tepid, boring games I've ever played. The 2 days each it took to plat 1 and 2 felt like weeks. The only positive is that they influenced Yakuza and any of the games in that series are better than Shenmue in every conceivable way. Suzuki was given another chance to end the series and he just strung people along in the mental belief that people would indulge his nonsense for another 2 games. Not a popular opinion I'm sure but there we are
@YeoSprings I platted 14 RGG games (all yaks, judges on PS4/5 and FOTNS) in the last year....bought Hades, Scarlet Nexus and Forbidden West and had about 17 other games in my library after finishing Lost Judgment for the 2nd time I went straight to....Yakuza 0. No trophies to earn just loving playing it again. No need to complete it 100% but have spent 20 hrs doing completion stuff and haven't gone past chapter 2 yet 😅 it's definitely worth it.
Will do one RGG replay then one new game just to mix it up but the games are just awesome

Re: Like a Dragon Gaiden's Controversial English Dub Is Selectable on PS5, PS4 Now
I have never or will never play a Yakuza/Like A Dragon game with a dub. So irrelevant to me.

Re: Talking Point: Like Japanese Games? Early 2024 Is Going to Destroy You
Pre ordered Like A Dragon 8 and FF7 Rebirth. Will probably finish the former in time for the latter to land.
Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Details Its Much-Needed Turn-Based Combat Improvements
Just finished Gaiden......awesome. Loved the ending.
I cannot wait for this game!!!!
