@themightyant You are right yes Xbox has all these revenue streams; above and beyond just the consoles sold. But I just really would hate for them to go third-party, which I think a good few people here hope for.

@Nem you say Gamepass is a bait and switch; but I have been enjoying it for years for very little upfront cost. Not sure what is wrong with that? Everyone who has spent the last few years saying it’s “unsustainable” etc has actually just been missing out on its incredible value. Even if they were to pull the rug out from us and destroy the value of gamepass - it’s already happened - we have already had the value. You just missed out on it.

@Intr1n5ic Matt Booty wrote an email about 3 or 4 years ago talking about spending Playstation out of the business.

Whats that got to do with what I said? You made it about what Xbox is doing. I’m saying if there is a lack of competition in the industry it can cause issues going forward. If Xbox bought Nintendo; that is not healthy either. If Playstation buys Konami; that could be beneficial as they were being passive and not releasing games (that is starting to change now) etc etc. But thanks for bringing up something completely random? Kind of proving my point about the fanboy standpoint.

Also I get it you are mocking the word “healthy” but it’s a relevant term that can be applied to the state of an industry so… yea.

If anything this is a bad thing overall. Good for Playstation/Sony as a company but… barely benefits any of the gamers and without the competition from Xbox will be a massive downward spiral in innovation (not that PS has too much as it is) pricing, and pushing the industry forward.

You should all be hoping it was more neck and neck.

It’s kind of mindblowing (and not at the same time) that people will argue from a fanboy standpoint rather than a “I want the video games industry to be healthy long into the future” standpoint.

Having finished Like A Dragon Gaiden: TMWEHN last night; i’m pretty hyped for this. I hope it’s as good as Like A Dragon (2020).

But I hope it’s not too long it stops me playing…that said, if you power through the stories they aren’t all actually that long.

Love how Remake was set in Midgar and Rebirth is set in South Park.

Im at a point where I really wish they would just focus on making games fun and worry less about how pretty they look. There is a point of diminishing returns - and i’m not really someone who uses photo mode etc.

They definitely need more variety in their first party line-up. The console itself is good (on the inside at least) but I find games like The Last of Us so boring and even found Ragnarok boring too. But I can’t say it’s just linear cinematic games I don’t like because i’m over here blasting through Like A Dragon Gaiden (on gamepass). Hard to know what they could do to make PS better in my eyes but these days it’s less and less for me. SSD is great though - and the dualsense is cool but I feel like it peaked with Astrobot!

Started Dead Space Remake on Gamepass and considering noping out of it as I don’t have the balls. On chapter 3 at the moment on medium. Considering just wacking it down to story difficulty to smash through it (don’t judge me!).

Not interested to spend full price at launch but happy to play this down the line. Insomniac (and SE) are carrying PS5 at this point IMO.

Hopefully the next guy brings back the fun

Can’t wait for Sunset Overdrive 2 to come out and be only on Playstation and see how supportive everyone here will be of it. Also as I said on PX; try and be nice, people. I know that is a lot to ask of the PS community.

If this is the endgame for the trilogy then… that sucks. Surely there is a bigger plan than this.

@ATaco there was actually a small dlc on the Xbox 360 version that gave you a hideout where you could cure your own vampirism (off the top of my head thats how I remember it at least). I had the same issue as you but just bought that for like £1 and got a cool cave as a bonus 🤣

@gigagaia kind of silly to call something like Oblivion or Fallout 3 a “piece of trash”. You may not like them but they are very good video games and that is a massive disservice to call them that. There are pieces of trash out there and these aren’t it.

@RoomWithaMoose whilst I really am not a fan of current Sony and can’t believe i’m actually defending them; in the case of your comment regarding pumping out exclusives at an insane rate - No one can get games out as quick as they used to - it just doesn’t happen any more. Not even Insomniac or Obsidian can keep up the rate games used to come out at. We got like Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask and Wind Waker in the space of 4/5 years (as well as the Oracle games from a different dev) Same with Final Fantasy VII to X. Crazy times. I would much preferred that had continued than to move to these more insane dev times but there we go.

@PixelDragon a question no one seems to ask when one of the Playstation Studios games are at the top. Glad Push Square etc try and post the combined Physical/Digital totals more now as they are actually relevant.

@Rols whilst sales would have been higher, I don’t think they would have “more than doubled”. You think more people would buy on Playstation than PC and Xbox combined? Remember it’s on Steam too. The only way that works is if you only count physical (which is… dumb).

Whilst those screenshots are pretty; I don’t really care so much how it looks (diminishing returns at this point) - just hope it is fun and brings something new to the table since the first 2 games. Not sure how I feel about the same gameplay loop at full price. This is a “wait for a sale” for me.

The damage control from the usuals is hilarious. But anyway Playstation are desperately trying to position themselves as a premium product but I don’t think they have earnt it.

As a re-release of an old game this did every single thing right; from the content right down to the price. The score does seem odd in that regard.

Still need to go through 1 but intending to do it co-op with a friend after Prodeus.

Will play this on Xbox eventually. Probably not the worst thing for the Xbox version that it got delayed. Can play Starfield and then play this afterwards

@Sekijo I definitely misworded that comment with “especially” their timed deals when really I was thinking of the one; but I brought it up to emphasise my point about Sony not being any more transparent than Xbox (but they weren’t transparent about it and then it became permanent and they didn’t say a word about it). And in that sense… i have no examples because i’m referring to something that isn’t there… (the transparency). I feel like we only knew Deathloop & Ghostwire were specifically 1 year because Xbox literally bought Zenimax. Just like we only know about Stalker 2 being a 3 month timed because of an internal Microsoft document. I don’t think either are transparent about it.

@Rafie I don’t get it… you’re saying go to Square because what? It’s third party? Literally all of what we are talking about are third party deals, but you are saying Sony is transparent and Xbox is not. So then surely in all these cases we should go to the third party; which means it’s not up to Xbox at all then is it? Why should folks go to Square (not Sony) in that case, but with Xbox timed exclusives only ask Xbox?

@Rafie I will say about Playstation that they are also not transparent. Especially with extensions to their timed deals. Occasionally an advert will say *exclusive for 2 years, but it’s not that often.

@Member_the_game Yea i mean I got an Xbox One X and whilst it was nice to have a boost in resolution; a couple of years later the Series X was out and so all in all I don’t feel it was worth it. Not going for any mid-gen consoles this time no matter which side it’s on.

Plus it will make the eventual jump to next-gen even better.

Good that you can get the plates separately but I don’t think I can get away with that in the living room for long. The controller though is tempting.

I thought High on Life was a fun game. I completed it but didn’t mop up the last couple of achievements. But it depends on your sense of humour. It’s pretty messed up!

On Xbox side you will still be able to shop around for your digital codes which is good. Sucks for Playstation gamers though.

You know Halo and Gears are great single-player games that also work as well, if not better, as incredibly fun co-op experiences. They are still cinematic and story-driven. If Sony starts doing that then awesome.

But I doubt they will.

@StrawberryTurtle what is wrong with Gamepass? It can be a pretty huge money-saver. You sound extremely bitter. I’m not saying this is beneficial to Playstation players but what I am saying is it’s stupid to play dumb and pretend there are no benefits to Xbox players (besides… bragging rights apparently?).

And you’re saying it’s not pro-consumer since the games were already on Xbox but if they start hitting Switch surely that is a benefit. Maybe not to you but that’s not the point.

There are so many different angles to argue regarding the whole acquisition (either in favour or against) but blind fanboyism is just a waste of everyones time.

@StrawberryTurtle i assume they mean Gamepass plus the opportunities provided with Backwards Compatibility for older COD, Tony Hawks, Crash, Spyro games etc. Whether you like it or not, the benefits to Xbox gamers at least are pretty obvious…

Man Pikmin 4 vs God of War. Both awesome series but I know which one I would rather play 💙❤️💛. Crazy how production values don’t always equal fun.

I’m really enjoying XVI as a story (just over 60% through apparently); it has me hooked. But the game itself is lacking something that made previous mainline games special to me. It might be the lack of RPG systems and it might be the lack of exploration. But yea I am left wanting more from the gameplay. Story though, as I said, is good stuff so far.

Got Pixel Remasters digital on PS5(PS4) and physical on Switch so i’ve done my bit. If they hit Xbox I will probably get them again ahem .

@Ralizah yea well it’s frustrating after we get article after article touting 70% of a game’s sales being on Playstation when they know that is only half the picture. It’s always incomplete. And now it’s to do with an exclusive being on the wrong end of that it’s become an “issue”.

I actually think FFXVI has done well for being a single console (no PC, Xbox, Switch or last gen) release. It’s up against the zeitgeist that is Tears of the Kingdom. The damage control is unnecessary.

@Kevw2006 I have heard multiple times on this site that Xbox players don’t buy Final Fantasy games unfortunately (though somehow my day one FFXV copy was an Xbox copy 🤷‍♂️ as was my Royal Edition).

Anyway I wonder how Alan Wake 2 will chart…

These physical charts have always been half the story. Not just now that Final Fantasy got bumped from number 1.

@Scottyy I apologise I think I misunderstood your initial comment. I read it as like “10 of” meaning they keep pumping out the same game.

Everyone likes what they like; but for me I look at a studio like Obsidian where they have Grounded as an ongoing game; they release a passion project in Pentiment; and then have the bigger budget Avowed on the go at the same time. That is a good mix to me and means you get more regular releases. Of course only a studio of a certain size can keep that going.

All of these articles about games taking 5-6 years to make but that is only because of the sort of games they are making.

@Scottyy that’s a really weird comment especially when there are like 6 Uncharteds, a million Ratchet and Clanks. What has Grounded got to do with it? Have you played it? I’ve had so much fun with that game. Just feels like a random attack on Xbox even though their games have way more variety. And Halo isn’t exactly spammed out; it started in 2001.

In my opinion these big budget games are great but you also need smaller budget games to go alongside them. As these all end up feeling quite similar (have you ever climbed a rockface/mountainside by any chance?). Despite being highly polished.

I am playing it - but my PS5 seems to think i have only played 52 minutes. How can it be that broken? Like how hard can it be to fix that? The game doesn’t seem to have an in-game gameplay timer either does it… does anyone know if there is one?
