Anyway regardless, I don’t think you should skip good games for some random pony fanboy angle. Sea of Thieves is awesome and I wish I had more time to play it. But upto you.

@MrMagic you know it’s completely voluntary/optional right (except first party)? Xbox could offer an Indie Developer £1m to put their game on Gamepass and they can take it or leave it. No gun to their head.

The only issue I see with Gamepass being around as an option is some people waiting for games to hit the service - but that can be fixed with transparency. E.g. Larian saying Baldur’s Gate won’t be on Gamepass.

Imagine being that desperate for Gamepass to fail. Why does it affect you @MrMagic? Because it’s a positive on the Xbox side?

Also yea most people already have a Microsoft account of some sort so no issue here.

I know i’m bringing Xbox into it so apologies in advance but hear me out:

Xbox bringing the smaller titles like Pentiment over to other consoles will hopefully let us see smaller titles like that in the future. Now whilst I think it should have just been kept as an exclusive; it’s a much better alternative than shutting the studio.

My point being that instead of gatekeeping for the sake of it and now shutting the smaller studios; Playstation could have pivoted like Xbox and released their smaller games multiplat eventually. I know it was Pixelopus and not London Studio but I don’t think anyone was buying a Playstation for Concrete Genie for example.

If anyone here hasn’t heard Lost Odyssey’s soundtrack, it’s possibly one of the best I have ever heard from him. Just incase anyone hasn’t had a chance to play it - check out the music.

@Nepp67 yea maybe playing them together would make it one decent package rather than piecemeal.

But tbh I just don’t know if I care to revisit the story unless it was set after the ending.

I enjoyed the game and the story but not sure these “missing chapter” DLCs do much for me. I haven’t bothered with the first DLC yet.

Will keep an eye on it though to see if the second is any better/worthwhile.

@Nyne11Tyme it sounds like Insomniac, and therefore Sony do own the IP for Sunset Overdrive. However Xbox put a clause into the exclusivity that they get first rights to upto 2 sequels and even any remasters.

So if Playstation released a Sunset Overdrive PS5 version they would have to include a Series X version.

Queue the uproar that it’s first person!

Gears of War is far and away Xbox’s best first party ongoing series and one of my favourite series of all time.

Also I remember Naughty Dog saying a lot of the gameplay in Uncharted 1 was inspired by the first Gears of War.

@Nem you have a real issue with putting words in my mouth.

1. I said lack of competition. Not “no” competition. I am aware Nintendo exist. Sony wishes they were Nintendo.

2. I didn’t imply your opinion is worth less. You were talking about how much you hate Xbox all of a sudden which was a tangent from the discussion. You are entitled to your opinion.

3. The controller I was referring to, which I said in my comment, is the accessibility controller. Which Playstation just copied. Feel free to look it up if you don’t know what it is.

I already listed things Xbox helped introduce. But another is the accessibility controller which makes gaming possible for so many people around the world.

But you just went off on one about Xbox that shows you clearly just hate them; which isn’t what I was talking about.

@lacerz isn’t that because the 100% is split amongst the games. So Gears having 11% means 11% of the points went to gears. It just means that opinions are split more evenly amongst the games than if one game had 50%. There are a lot of choices.

Just a reminder that for those saying “we told you the ABK acquisition would be bad - now look at whats happened to Xbox”, try not to cheer on Xbox exiting the console race so much. Might seem good to team blue in the short term but lack of competition in the console space is not a good thing. Because of Xbox, Playstation has trophies, a better subscription service and potentially backwards compatibility.

Also remember when consoles are being revealed and how obvious it is that Xbox and Playstation are waiting to see who announces the price first? To see what they can get away with? Yea that will be gone as they can charge whatever they like, the upgrades will be incremental etc.

Also just look at Crunchyroll.

Imagine if US websites gave this much thought to European countries. Digital is the way to go these days anyway especially with new content dropping, e.g. the gold edition content.

Probably the best thing Playstation is doing right now IMO. There is more than just Europe/USA/Japan out there in terms of talent. It’s time we got a different take on things.

Imagine getting your WRPGs and your JRPGs but also having Middle Eastern RPGs or African RPGs for a completely different experience. As an example.

Surprised people want to see more of Rebirth. Isn’t one of the most enticing things about it the fact it’s all a bit of a mystery right now in terms of story etc (for a remake at least!). I don’t want to see any more of it until release.

On that note; hopefully the flagship game being shown is.. Skull and Bones.

I feel like “Hardware strong, software not” should be on the box of the PS5.

@PixelDragon I hear you - Time, Money, Space and sneaking it past the wife and pretending it was always there, are definitely factors.

It’s just Xbox seems to be the only one with the attitude of “all games everywhere”, even if (big “if”) Playstation gets there eventually.

I just want Xbox hardware to keep going.

I think it will come to Switch (or Switch 2 😮)- not sure about Playstation but who knows.

@PixelDragon I think it’s that Xbox finally has its exclusive train going, so seems to be shooting itself in the foot by putting one of them everywhere. Spiderman going on Xbox, for example, would probably not change much unless it started to become a pattern. It’s mixed messaging from Xbox for sure.

I ventured onto twitter for the first proper time in my life over the last couple of days. And seriously, the fanboys are out of control and it makes PushSquare look extremely tame in comparison; seriously gives another perspective.

Anyway the leaks are horrible but (excluding the personal data) the inconsistency in reporting is a joke. No one held back from Capcom, Microsoft, Rockstar etc. really disappointed in the bias for Insomniac. I agree it shouldn’t be covered but the others should also not have been covered.

Not sure why the employees at those other companies are any less human, or have any fewer feelings, than the people at Insomniac. Kinda Funny especially has shown what they are really about.

@MrMagic it is still 12 (well, 11 now) but they just staggered them. Before it was 12 by 2025. Now it’s 6 by 2025 and 6 afterwards.

So “more than one” remaster of a single-player game probably (joke).

In all seriousness this is only a good thing. The Last of Us is a well made game but also had terribly boring gameplay in my opinion so I don’t know why anyone wanted Factions in the first place.

I saw this recently; it’s the 17th best selling game of all time. What the flip! I play it on Gamepass with 2 friends but the free level updates keep us coming back for a laugh every few months.

It’s less exclusionary than Spiderman and Wolverine are when they release so… 🤷‍♂️

The ending of this game stayed with me. Seriously - check it out if you can.

It actually blew me away. I saw it coming but the last few seconds i got them chills. And i’m not talking about the obvious twists.

The rest of the storyline is messy but the gameplay and classes are fun. But yea that ending.

Say what you want but art does go into COD. People do work hard on it. I liked the joke but I can understand it’s not the place for it when it is supposed to be a celebration of the work in the industry throughout the year.

There could be some young talented devs who worked on COD and already got shat on at the biggest gaming event of the year. Not exactly a great encouragement. At least it was just about the length.

There were some Activision studios helping with destiny development I believe. With Bungie x Sony and Activision x Xbox, I wonder what happens with something like that. Maybe it put a strain on Bungie.

@AdamNovice regarding the Cross-gen exclusives thing: I get what you are saying but you are looking at it as Playstation vs Xbox. I think the other take, is for someone who is all in on Playstation and has a PS4; it might take them ages to save up for a PS5. And so when they get it, if they are playing games they could play on their PS4, that could be disappointing. So cross-gen wouldn’t count as exclusive from that perspective.

Thats not me btw; just a different take that should be considered. Not moving goalposts, just a general concern with the first couple years of this gen (on Xbox’s side as well), and I think it’s a fair take.

Isn’t this more about how Playstation have tried to wall off other resellers; whereas Xbox hasn’t? It’s not about a game selling for £70 digitally. If that is the cost, that is the cost. But the lawsuit is about the fact there is no other method to obtain that digital game so therefore Sony can keep the price there or raise it and there is nothing you can do about it (in terms of purchasing it - of course you could just not buy it but thats not the point). With Xbox you have CDKeys selling a game code, usually a couple of quid cheaper than the Xbox store. When Xbox puts its games on sale, so does CDKeys to keep it cheaper. It’s a choice for the consumer and it forces competition. I think almost everyone is taking this out of context and defending Sony without understanding it? Or have I got this all wrong since the first 50 or so comments are coming from a different angle…

Also now people are saying PS games aren’t a necessity so the laws shouldn’t apply. But yet Microsoft acquiring companies shouldn’t happen because of monopolies (apparently) yet Xbox games aren’t a necessity either. Facepalm. The fanboys are real.

Also anyone mentioning physical games - this is about digital games.

@Nem it’s very good value. each to their own but i’ve played a LOT of games on gamepass to completion. And life is too short to play them again. So losing them in the future is fine. Its a rental service and it works for me. I got the 1000gs in LAD Gaiden already for instance. I’m very unlikely to ever play that £45 game again in my life. But it was awesome. And great to play it on the sub.

@Rafie No you are right i’m being dumb. I got my PS3 in 2008. Well I had plus in 2011 as there was an outage I remember so I guess from then. And then I feel I missed a year (or some months) in the PS4 gen at some point as I remember not being able to claim some Vita games. But yea I will get FOMO on the free games but I never end up playing them anyway.

First year (or maybe second) since 2008 I won’t have it. Not going to miss it.
