Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo

@Flaming_Kaiser it all comes down to that statistic Mat Piscatella shared where like 60% of gaming time is from only 10 games (something like that).

Sony desperately wants a game in that top 10. Thats why they pushed GAAS so badly.

I agree smaller titles are safer but Playstation isn’t going to get anywhere making Ape Escapes if Xbox has Minecraft and COD, and Epic has Fortnite.

Plus studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica seem to like working with bigger budgets (i’m speculating).

@ultimateotaku91 console sales are up YoY but they aren’t up from a decade or two ago. Thats the point. There was a growth when the Wii and DS (and PS2 leading into that) cracked the casual market but since then it hasn’t grown.

@get2sammyb of course there are always different viewpoints about pretty much everything. And yes Gamepass won’t work for everyone, even on the dev side. But it’s an option, one of these devs even used it! It’s a choice of a different revenue stream. But they can ignore it if they want. I just don’t see the damage they do; unless Xbox game sales were their main revenue driver.

Also would be nice to see the article bring in those that say Gamepass is good.

@graymamba but with regards to the negative impact it has on the industry, these publishers are choosing to sign a Gamepass deal. Pocket Pair even recently said how great it was. They don’t have to.

If anything it gives developers/publishers another choice. Get sales on Steam/Playstation/Nintendo and some upfront cash from Xbox.

The devs at Microsoft themselves are already getting paid which people seem to forget. The layoffs sound like they were just due to Microsoft being ***** and wanted to squeeze each department for cash for AI investment. No proof Gamepass has anything to do with it, unless i’m missing something?

I don’t get it at all. I love Gamepass and I buy a LOT of games on top (across all consoles).

But if anyone here saw a deal for a Playstation game and it was super cheap and they wanted it, they wouldn’t think oh man what about the devs, they would just buy it. If Ghost of Yotei accidentally went up on PSN for £5 you would have an article about it and there would be a sea of comments saying “thanks managed to snag it” or “damn I missed it”. Very few will say nah hold fire until it’s back to £70. Even though, you know, the devs already got paid.

Point is there is so much crying about whether it is sustainable or unsustainable and it’s been going on for years but what is the point? Just enjoy it! Gamepass is like 7 (or 8?) years old and the crying has been going on for about 5 of those.

It’s an amazing deal. Xbox will end it when they have to or make it so it’s not such a good deal anymore and everyone would have spent 5 years crying about its sustainability instead of just enjoying it.

Re: Trophy Updates for PS Plus Premium Classics Keep on Coming

@Bramble It’s possible but they shouldn’t remove these versions anyway. Xbox hasn’t removed the old Oblivion or Gears games. They should commit to keeping them available; and the remake/remaster should speak for itself.

Either way no sign of a remake/remaster yet anyway.

So according to the comments a lot of people are just not going to play the game at all? Lol. I like physicals too but just get it digital or, you know, play it on Gamepass.

@Kill_nil yea Bethesda kept their publishing arm separate. Which is why you do see a disk release of this and Indiana Jones, yet XGS games like Forza Horizon, Age, etc aren’t getting physicals.

For those that are fighting this, I get it, but remember when you get your handhelds in the future (from Xbox and Playstation) your disks won’t work on them; but your digitals will.
