Fine, it was a beta and now they're putting it offline to finish it. It's the fact that they filled their unfinished game with microtransactions that makes this annoying. Not only annoying, but bothersome to see how easily someone can lose the stuff they paid for. At least offline play seems possible.
@naruball The Witcher 3 is the 3rd most awarded video game of all time just under The Last of Us 2 and Elden Ring. If you don't get how it is so highly regarded, don't think it isn't in your power to find out.
@pharos_haven Let me just correct your first sentence. It's not you cannot because it needs to be licensed, it's they will not because it needs to be licensed. The person I was responding to said they couldn't do it because they thought that because these voices weren't from video games that it would be harder? Well that's clearly bogus, since from a technical standpoint it's much easier since many of these cartoon characters have more voice clips than the grunts and snippets from many characters. Obviously it's a budget issue because Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 also didn't have any voice acting. Yet that doesn't mean we can excuse the lack of it at all. No voice acting for a game full of iconic cartoon characters with voices just as iconic as their appearances is frankly disappointing no matter the reasoning and no matter whose fault it is
@RubyCarbuncle Let's leave it at this. Demos are released for a reason, to give the player an idea as to what the game is. If a demo sucks and practically every review out there says the game sucks, why would I spend $60 to get the full game? The demo that I played and that many others played shows that this game is simply not worth $60.
@RubyCarbuncle I mean the reviewer seems to agree with me by giving it that score! Sorry you disagree but the clear and general consensus around this game spells it out!
It deserves it! This series has been a positive influence for indie games and quite honestly, the horror game genre as a whole! Not to mention, the creator of FNAF, Scott Cawthon, is one of the nicest and most beloved developers out there!
@Nepp67 FNAF has garnered a huge fan base for the reason that is was so unique and a really cool concept in the horror game genre! This is the first truly free roaming game in the series and for that I'm excited for it!
@Akurusu I'm aware that people don't agree and as I said, I really do not care. I do care about when you claim that they shouldn't win based on the developer's actions along with trying to delegitimize the award which is clear hypocrisy based on what you're implying. The factual statement is it won GOTY and many thought it was amazing. If people like the game or not is subjective, but objectively, the game won the award and many loved it. To say I'm the one who continued to have this discussion is just ridiculous. You said what you said, then I said what I said. You said the game is not amazing, I said the game is amazing. I didn't plan to argue as to who is right, for I knew that people had different views on this game. I didn't try to convince you as to why I thought it was amazing, I just simply said it was in my opinion amazing just like you said in your opinion that it wasn't amazing. We could have left it at that, but you instead tried to argue saying the "it's not accurate to what people actually think because it's chosen by journalists" argument. Nothing to do with the quality of the game itself, but just you trying to look for ways to delegitimize the award.
Like I said, if you don't like the game, that's what you think. I'm not trying to convince you to thinking the game is amazing. I'm just pointing out that this was a legitimate win and that previous years and the voting process don't affect its legitimacy.
@Akurusu You're still living in this delusion. I'm seeing that energy now, from you! There will always be winners and losers no matter who gets picked. Doesn't change the legitimacy of the awards. And you see that energy regardless! I went on The Game Award's Twitter where they announced the GOTY last night and the first comment I see below it shows a picture of a guy handing another guy money with the picture being labeled Naughty Dog and The Game Awards. Below it, I see both positive and negative comments. There isn't a universal agreement. Every time a game wins, there will always be a disagreement. Every single year. Of course, on a Playstation site, you'd see a bit more negativity if Animal Crossing won, but that doesn't mean the TGAs don't matter. They absolutely can and do matter! Of course there will be sore losers (like yourself seemingly), but that's just how life works for anything!
And listen, I don't care about your opinion on this game. I never even planned to argue with you over it. I argued over your original comment regarding the legitimacy of the game winning the award based on the developers themselves. I just happened to point out that it won GOTY and that many people thought the game to be amazing! If you "said what you said", you would have clearly accepted the fact that you're in a minority when you make these comments on a PlayStation News Site and stop attempting to try to refute FACTUAL STATEMENTS!
@Akurusu You're simply filtering to the negative comments for 2017 and only filtering the positive comments for 2018 to attempt to fit an agenda! There were also many extremely happy that Breath of the Wild won in 2017 and there were many that were unhappy that God of War beat Red Dead 2! Look at the whole picture!
People can't always agree on one thing but that doesn't change the legitimacy of the awards themselves. It's not the awards not mattering one year and then mattering the next, it's simply the result of your favorite game winning or not. My favorite game not winning doesn't mean the awards don't matter! I'm bummed but I still respect the decision. Clearly, as I see here, I'd argue that you are hypocritical to call us people who only thinks it matters when our favorite game wins and thinks it doesn't matter when it does not win. Look at what you're doing! Arguing that TLOU 2 shouldn't have won through the means of the developers, and by stating that this doesn't accurately represent the actual award because it was mainly decided by journalists! So in short, saying this award doesn't matter because it doesn't represent what the people actually picked when in all actuality this is false!
And I didn't really want to continue this. I simply said a factual statement to which you're trying so desperately to refute! It did win GOTY and a lot of people liked the game! This is factual! You can have your opinion but it doesn't make The Last of Us 2 unworthy of the title!
@jess3a3 Well Death Stranding came out in 2019 so it wasn't going to be nominated this time but maybe there would have been some clash had the game released in 2020!
@Akurusu I'm not spamming, I'm reinforcing a point to which you had attempted to refute by delegitimizing the Game Awards GOTY Award. I had then provided a counter to that by stating the success of the game at The Golden Joystick which is purely popular vote based leading to the reaffirmation of my statement. It's fine if you don't like the game, we all have opinions. Quite honestly, I wasn't planning on arguing over the game itself. You had originally stated that the game shouldn't have won based on controversy with the developers and I said that the award was based purely on the game itself. That's all I'm implying. Dislike it all you want but it was a deserved win for this title
@FullMetalWesker Ghosts of Tsushima is a massive one though. Same arguably for FF7 Remake. Hades was nominated actually if you didn't know and I had this weird thought that Animal Crossing might have had a chance based on its huge popularity. I mean regardless, all of the nominees were awesome games and people have been talking highly about all of them so I would say that the competition was actually quite tough this year!
@Akurusu The Last of Us 2 won GOTY at the Golden Joystick Awards which is purely based on popular vote. So anyways. The Last of Us 2 is an amazing game and it getting the GOTY Award indicates that a lot of people agree with this statement!
@Akurusu And I said what I said! The Last of Us 2 is an amazing game and it getting the GOTY Award indicates that a lot of people agree with that statement!
@Akurusu Well this is "Best game of the year". Not "Best game studio of the year"! I understand that these sorts of things could and should be taken into consideration. But the award was given based on the game itself and The Last of Us 2 is an amazing game!
@seari84 This isn’t getting an update for PS4. They’re just emphasizing that performance mode will hit up to 60 FPS when taking advantage of PS5 hardware.
I think it would have been beneficial for many to see Push Square's take on how this compares to Saints & Sinners because the people who enjoyed would most likely want to know!
@IonMagus Maybe because Avengers is an online focused game where they use their own servers allowing save data to transfer? Just a guess but it seems like that would be plausible!
@Ridwaano Completely false. "Xbox director of program management Jason Ronald explained to IGN that game install sizes will be approximately 30% smaller on the Series S than on the Series X...There is a twist, however, as it’s up to developers to implement this particular technology."
So if a game is 100 GB with 4K textures, it may be 70 GB on a Series S which is still extremely high. It is not 4 times smaller as you claim. It's also up to developers what they choose to do so the file size may not even be 30% smaller it could be even less or the same size as a game on Series X or PS5. So anyways. Xbox Series S owners are in trouble.
@pip_muzz Well if they started right after God of War (2018), then they could release it on December 31st, 2021 and that would give them 4 months shy of 4 years! 😅
@Deltath Not being allowed to and choosing not to are what draw the line and frankly, neither you or I have explicit evidence that would validate either of the two. What we can say though is that if you buy the recently released "Ultimate Edition", you can get a PS5 upgrade. If you bought the normal game or deluxe edition with the season pass (which is the exact same as the "Ultimate Edition") You don't get a PS5 upgrade. Even though you purchased the same content as someone who bought the "Ultimate Edition", you don't get an upgrade. What's the fairness or reasoning behind that? The fact that you try to justify that of all things is mind-blowing. Paying for a PS5 upgrade in of itself is not the big issue. What the issue is is that people who technically already have the content contained in the "Ultimate Edition" will still have to buy that "Ultimate Edition" a second time to get an upgrade. If I bought the game in 2019 and got the season pass, I technically have the "Ultimate Edition". But according to 505 Games and Remedy, I still don't get a PS5 upgrade.
P5R and DQXIS are certainly not worse. We know already that P5R is way more than a rerelease. It adds a whole new game's worth of content plus even more to an already fantastic game and therefore the upgrade is well worth it and is why there was little backlash on the game. Control PS5 is the exact same game. And yeah, people aren't going to buy it but for a very big reason that being the anti-consumer practices 505 Games and Remedy are employing. I can't repeat this enough. Why do only "Ultimate Edition" owners get an upgrade and yet people who own the game and Season pass don't??? "Ultimate Edition" and Game with Season Pass or Deluxe Edition are the exact same! Even a discounted price would be sufficient. I bought Minecraft on my PS3 for $20 and then to my surprise, I was able to purchase both the PS4 and PS Vita version for only $5. Because it's the same game.
It's like if I bought Modern Warfare on my PS4 with the Battle Pass in 2019. Then Activision releases a new "Ultimate Edition" that includes the game and the battle pass in 2020. Turns out, the only way to get a free PS5 upgrade according to them would be to buy this newly released "Ultimate Edition" even though I already own all of the content included in the new bundle. Since I don't have the "Ultimate Edition" of the game, I don't get a free PS5 upgrade. Not even Activision would stoop that low so the fact that this is what 505 Games is doing with their game is just not acceptable.
@Deltath Your Taco Bell analogy is flawed. Control will have the current PS4 version and a new PS5 version. Nothing is being "taken off the menu" with it. Based on the stories we've received regarding this game, players before the word got out were able to get a free upgrade to next gen versions but that quickly got taken down and now 505 games continues to claim they aren't able to do it even though we've witnessed otherwise. And besides, a $3 quesarito made for your consumption is much different than a $40 video game with a season pass.
Your Persona 5 Royal and Dragon Quest examples are also not valid. P5R is an enhanced title that actually adds over 20 hours of new content and plenty of new features. Dragon Quest XI S will also offer additional content and is a lower price point. Control PS4 will have the exact same content as the PS5 game, no exclusive additional content for PS5, and will sell for near retail value even if you already bought the PS4 game and season pass.
505 Games and Remedy will give you an upgrade if you own the recently released "Ultimate Edition" which is the game and season pass. But if you bought the game in 2019 with the season pass or the Deluxe Edition, even though you have the same content as the "Ultimate Edition", you don't get an upgrade. I'm sorry but how can you even justify this?
If Control came out when both the PS5 and PS4 were out there, it would be different. You'd have the option then. The game came out before the PS5 and so people had essentially less options. Turns out, 505 continued to support Control in the midst of the next generation, and so it's only fair that PS4 players can get a free or at least a discounted upgrade. It's literally the exact same game but with graphical fidelity to take advantage of the hardware. Players already bought the game, they shouldn't have to buy the exact same game twice for NEAR FULL PRICE!

@Voltan Can't? Lol it would actually be EASIER! These characters are fully voiced characters in popular TV shows, it would be easy. Explain to me why it would be harder? Because it's a cartoon? Can you not just extract audio from the thousands of lines worth of dialogue all of these characters have spoken in their TV shows? Fans can do it! https://www.reddit.com/r/AllStarBrawl/comments/q2ellj/nasb_but_with_voice_acting/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

I wouldn't mind it if Thanos snapped his fingers to halve this file size!
