Observation (PS4) on PS5. Currently £1.99 on sale. You essentially play HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey mixed with the film Gravity. Really enjoying it so far. Lots of, fix this fix that, space station puzzles.
The most frustrating aspect of the campaign is that you cannot play it if the servers are full!?!?
I'm around halfway through and it is dull as dishwater. Laughable characters. Really bad from a military training aspect, everyone is so dumb. It's like a fox network drama. Every other Battlefield Campaign is leaps and bounds over this, and actually fun too!
The saddest part is that I'll probably do it a few times over for the Platinum 🤣🙃
err, the current DualSense already features a removable battery. Undo 4 screws and the housing just pops off. Can no one do simple DIY anymore? Stick drift is easy to fix also. I've been doing that since PS3.
I'd prefer 2D animation. It just looks better imo. This still looks distractingly CGI even though the character frames have been lowered and shadered to look hand drawn. BLADE RUNNER 2049 - "Black Out 2022" Anime Short did it's characters perfectly. The rotoscoped looking fight choreography, towards the end is stunning!
I managed to get around £50 credit over the course of PlayStation stars. A really cool addition for those who could be bothered to look at the hidden away objectives on the mobile app. It was a bit flawed having to just download a game, launch it, then delete it right away.
@KundaliniRising333 I have been temped to get this for a while but I have always thought it's a likely PS+ addition. It could be included to coincide with the DLC. Always a risk.
I fully embraced a digital library many years ago but I do miss the joy of opening a new physical release. Pre-order editions used to be packed with goodies. I have the Skyrim canvas map lovingly framed on my office wall. Looks exquisite.
But, just last week I ordered the physical edition of Miasma Chronicles (PS5) for £12.99 new. It was still £30 on PSN. I was pleasantly surprised to find a little concept art book and a (still valid) cosmetic dlc code, inside the case. I even got a 'thank you for purchasing the physical edition' message, when starting the game.
Something I'd forgotten I missed.
I've been playing the Half Lite retro inspired indie Kvark, which released this week. Plays great (just change the sensitivity to 20 on PS5). £15 banger.
I only upgraded to premium because of a Black Friday deal. To be fair, Premium has actually saved me a lot of money. Many big games have trials that don't even need to be downloaded, you can stream them. This has put me off games I've nearly purchased on sale, like space Marine 2 and Alan Wake 2. It also helped me decide to get Hogwarts while it was under £20. The PSVR2 included games are great and have saved me loads also. Additions are slim but the catalogue on there (including PS3 steaming) and free movie access have been great for my wants.
@heavyartillery56 because most games aren't optimised properly to get the best from the hardware. You'd see a huge difference in start of gen and last of gen, back on older systems. Rockstar has had the time to experiment with that rather than let the hardware brut force. graphics. Look at Uncharted 1 and then the The Last of Us. Same PS3 system..
@AdamNovice @bingbongboyo The Getaway games are likely never to be released again as they contain so many car licences and branded shop fronts like McDonalds, KFC, Next, HMV, Currys, WHSmith, Virgin to name a few. The disc version was changed to remove the British Telecom logo upon its 2nd printing. One mission had you kill a driver and steal his van. They can still be played, via Emulation, in much higher quality than they ran back in the day, with a PS4/PS5 controller on PC. Probably on many of the PC handhelds on the Market also.
Hopefully he has creative freedom. Reminds me of Edgar Wright fighting for an Ant-Man movie then getting booted off it. (Although it did turn out decent). Here's hoping for something special. Justin Long would be icing on the cake
Cost me £340 new over Christmas. Also jumped in because prescription insert lenses were also on offer and there was a huge psn store sale. I like it and bought a load of games but I wouldn't recommend for friends with mainstream gaming tastes. The only friend who would, already has it. It's not a mainstream device and I'd say is for those who lile to play lots of different and indie games. It requires building up a tolerance for many games. Something I had built up with Quest2. It's also a system that needs a demo with someone who knows the system.
@ButterySmooth30FPS oh, I didn't have any crashing issues on ps5. 100% the game and dlc. I guess I was lucky with the digital edition. Manhunt is the only back compat game that was completely broken for me.
I remember Sleeping Dogs not appearing in a PS5 store search. It does appear in browser, on pc. You can add it to your library (usually for about £5) and start the download on PS5. All the dlc is included. I got the platinum on PS5 a couple of years ago. Plays incredibly well. Shocking it isn't searchable on console?!?! Would happily re-do a native port.
@Kraven finished up 100% all the dlc trophies for SE5 yesterday. One of the only series I get all the dlc maps for. Reliable quality. I'll probably wait for a sale this time though.
That day 1 excitement has gone. Sales would have been massive if this was multiplatform on release. I was hyped and looked into upgrading my PC for it, until realistic reviews started rolling out. That fomo has gone now and I'll probably wait for a sale or even PS+ extra down the line.
Thoroughly enjoying PSVR2 the past few weeks. Been playing the online shooter Pavlov all afternoon with a bit of Walkabout mini-golf. Refreshing playing games from a whole different perspective.
@GoatFace04 The PS2 game Ace Combat 5 Unsung War/Squadron Leader has an excellent HD remaster, built for PS4 and also playable on PS5. It came as a free pre-order bonus with 7. Looks and plays great in full 16:9. Not sure if there is still a way to get it. Appears in my game library but not in a PSN store search.
@Bkzgr8ezt yeah I keep meaning to jump back in but worried it'll not live up the the nostalgia of playing it back on PS3. I also feel like it'll go to ps+ extra as soon as I purchase it, haha.
@Kraven I got stuck being insufficiently equipped for the final area. Frustratingly draining on anti-rad and tough armoured enemies. I think I'm enjoying the third entry (Call of Pripyat) more but prefer the colder look of the first. Shadow has that PS2 era warm bloom effect. The PSN store was glitched on its shadow drop and gave all 3 tites for the price of 1!!
Games are for everyone and Astrobot did just that. There is a barrier for entry that puts a lot of people off modern gaming. So many mums and dads are bonding with their kids playing Astrobot together.
@Amnesiac cool. I'd imagine they'd look great in HD or 4K now. I came across them after being introduced to Philip Glass by the Mishima score used in The Truman Show and Candyman.
I think this was the first game where I was blown away by the atmosphere and voice acting. Sound and music were impeccable. I played Metal gear platinum release not long after. With Silent Hill releasing in the same year, games had grown up and were, at the time, the crossover for cinema and games. To see the PS1 evolve was such an exciting time in gaming.
I'll probably get blasted for this but I remember preferring 1 and 3 and Downpour over 2. Played them all as they released on each console. Gone back to 1 a few times but had no intention of ever re-doing 2. I wasn't that interested in the remake but heard it has had a lot of changes, been expanded upon, order of story beats changed etc. so I purchased it last night. I had planned to wait and see for a performance patch but I'm happy to support a launch with hopes of, at least, the original being remade.
@Northern_munkey destruction and sound design were what made Battlefield unique. They forgot that chasing COD. They are master of none now. Heck, remaster Bad Co (campaign)+ Bad Co 2 and Battlefield 4 multiplayer.
@Member_the_game At the start of a generation consoles are sold at a loss to boost the install base. They make money from software sales and subs. This is a premium product so cannot be compared to start of gen pricing.
@djlard Astro's Playroom didn't use a camera. You are thinking of the free PS4 launch title The Playroom. Astro's Playroom is a platformer with levels comprised of hardware throughout the history of Playstation. There are around 20 levels and it is pre-installed on all PS5 consoles. It is probably the best platformer on the system. That is why everyone is excited for Astrobot. 80 levels across 6 galaxies.
@PaperAlien That the PS5 version? Same, I've just put 30 hours into S.t.a.l.k.e.r SOC and loved it. Not sure if the mission structure is too restrictive in Chernobylite by comparison. I love that kind of game though. Basically a gritty, overcast single-player DayZ like but without zombies.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare as his previous two games have used Guerrilla's Decima engine, I'd assume its using that also?

Re: The Order 1886 Could Have Been a Big Trilogy of PlayStation Games
