Re: 'We Should Have Clearly Disclosed Our Use of AI': Crimson Desert Dev 'Sincerely Apologises' for Erroneously Including AI Art in PS5 Game

Gbarsotini

"We created a gigantic game, with a gigantic team of artists, with tremendous efforts, but we apologize for using an available tool to create a tiny piece of art that nobody would have paid attention to, that helped in the early stages of development. We don't want to be canceled for something totally idiotic like this. We will do better in the future. Im sorry."

Re: Nvidia Says You're All 'Completely Wrong' About Its Controversial AI Upscaler DLSS 5

Gbarsotini

These examples being shown, besides being just examples because no one has yet used the technology to truly know what it's capable of, show an already defined art from a game being "altered," which is why many people are bothered. When eventually used from the beginning in a game, nobody will even know, because there won't be that comparison anymore.

I'm playing the Robocop game, and although I know it's an AA game, not AAA, the characters' faces slightly hinder immersion, are kinda ugly by today standards, because the developers, I think, didnt have many resources for it. A smaller developer studio will greatly improve their game with this technology and use to their advantage to make a better game.

In my opinion, if used properly, it will be a great technology.

Re: Fastidiously Multiformat Square Enix Skips PS5 with Yet Another Game

Gbarsotini

What if it was Nintendo itself that requested the exclusion from PlayStation? Maybe it helped fund the game? Who knows. Making a port on Xbox today is almost like making a port on Netflix Games. It doesn't affect Nintendo at all (I guess). Let's be honest, the only one that poses any challenge, even a small one, to Nintendo is Sony, and nowadays Bravely Default is better known as a Nintendo game than any other company, where it sells very well.
But if that wasn't the case, well, if Sony wanted the game so badly to please its players, it would have made an offer to Square Enix. Moving on.

Re: PS5 Players Could Get Compensation as Sony Slammed for Monopolistic Practices in UK Court

Gbarsotini

With all due respect, what a stupid discussion. If someone is unhappy with how Sony, or other platforms, conduct their business, the solution is to stop buying from that brand and switch to a more appealing one. It's not like video games are a necessity in people's lives; it's a hobby. I also don't agree with the slow death of physical games. Being able to trade, lend, and sell them is much better. But there is an option: not to buy anymore. Soon they'll be saying that Nintendo should be sued because people are forced to buy a Switch to play Mario games.

Re: Saints Row Is 'Dead' Says Design Director After Prequel Pitch 'Ghosted' by Embracer Group

Gbarsotini

@BrokenByTheScream Agreed, but back in the day it was easier to be a clone, today it would be absolutely impossible to compete with GTA VI. Even without knowing the game, I know its going to be absurdly huge in size and graphics.
I think being a parody would be the best way for them to come back, considering the level of production that games demand nowadays.
Maybe with a good, funny and mature story, without been over the top as Saints Row 3 (a game I personally enjoyed back in the day), who knows, maybe they would have a chance for a comeback (if the reboot hadn't ended the franchise). Gat and the others having to deal with a changed world and their own age.
That would be cool.

Re: 'One of the Worst Decisions Ever Made': God of War Creator Tears 'Total Crap' 2D Title Apart

Gbarsotini

@DennisReynolds
You gave several examples of great game stories from more recent times. But I wouldn't dismiss games from 20 years ago, and in a way, I also prefer the stories, in general, of older games. Final Fantasy IX, X, Max Payne, Silent Hill 2, 3, Resident Evil 4, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS 2 and 3, to name a few that came to mind, all games with great stories from that era, on the level of those games you named, or better, absolut classics, still unsurpassed today in terms of narrative within their respective franchises, in my opinion.

Re: Yakuza's Makers Have Made Another Unforced Error

Gbarsotini

I think the reason is that they are investing money and effort in the Kiwami version, and they want to recoup some of that investment. Maybe the remastered version will return in a year, who knows. But yeah, it would be better for both to coexist.

Re: 'It Has the Power to Enrich the Creative World': Level-5 Boss All-In on Generative AI

Gbarsotini

I understand people's concern about artists' jobs, but, used carefully, hopefully it will be a good tool for them; artists will reinvent themselves with the technology. Reading the comments here, it seems like a "technology from hell" (sorry for the exageration), but a few decades ago, Toy Story was revolutionary; it was a shock to traditional hand-drawn animation. Or the film Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, which, according to people at that time, would threaten actors' jobs because it was so realistic (yes, this was a thing at the time).

Edit: I think I focused too much on the creative side of the subject, and the concern of many is among others the theft of property that comes with technology. I commented on that below. And let's hope for the best for our hobby.

Re: Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann to Receive NYVGCC Legend Award

Gbarsotini

I don't like the guy, but he is someone who has worked in the industry for a long time, and has worked in important franchises, so I believe that an award is not that far-fetched.

That said, it seems that the treatment he receives from these people is different that other people in the industry receives, with accusations such as crunch, or contractors being laying off, not receiving any severance pay and “being pressured to keep the news confidential” not being given much importance, or being quickly forgotten.

Even in the franchises that many people link to him, he was either not the creator (Uncharted), or he was not the only creator (The Last of Us), AFAIK.

With all this, perhaps Amy Hennig would be a better choice.

Re: Physical Games Represented Just 4% of Sales for PlayStation Last Quarter

Gbarsotini

I like my games in physical form, I like collecting and seeing my games on the shelf. That said, lately I've been buying a lot of games in digital form, and physical games only when I know they are complete on disc (retro collections, game of the year edition, etc). What's the point of having the game today, if there are updates on the first day to make the game playable? In a few years, these blu rays will be useless.
So, I still continue to buy games in physical form, but only selected ones. Just like my vinyls.

Re: Like a Dragon: Gaiden Won't Have an English Dub on PS5, PS4 At Launch

Gbarsotini

I think this game has a lot of important things about the story related to the next Like a Dragon, so SEGA thought it would be better to do this release this way, incomplete, so that people don't end up without understanding certain things in the next game.
Maybe they didn't have time to dub both games at the same time, and since their idea is to release the next games at the same time around the world, they had to do it that way with Gaiden.
But yeah, I agree, they could have planned all of this better.

Re: Who Is PlayStation's New CEO, Hiroki Totoki?

Gbarsotini

I really don't like the direction that Playstation has taken, especially in terms of communication, the launch of PSVR2 was disastrous, and I miss a bit of the brand's Japanese sensibility, whether in commercials or in games.
That said, I respect Jim Ryan a lot, he faced an extremely difficult period for the industry, both in terms of the pandemic and the issue of company consolidation, surviving the struggle with Microsoft and going head to head is not a task for everyone, and despite all this, the PS5 is about to break records compared to its predecessors.
So in my opinion, as the difficulties will only increase, the next president can and should be someone aggressive like Jim Ryan. What Sony really needs for Playstation is a better marketing, PR, more Japan, a face to appear and communicate to fans, interact with people, and that person doesn't necessarily need to be the CEO.
Wish all the best to JR, as a Sony fan, he has been with the brand since the beginning, a good retirement for him and good rest from this crazy industry. The family is always more important.

Re: Microsoft One Step Closer to Activision Buyout as CMA Approves of Deal Changes

Gbarsotini

If people think that Microsoft buying everything will automatically have all their exclusive games on their platform of choice, they are very mistaken. It takes a lot of money to make a game, and I don't know how Microsft is going to do it in a healthy way by distributing all the games for free to its subscribers, even with all their money, they are still accountable to shareholders. What will happen is these companies will make fewer games, and permanently bury some franchises. Hey, Microsoft bought SEGA, that's so cool! Forget about releasing a Yakuza game every year, or even Sonic. Tails will probably be a COD skin, just like Kiryu.

Good. Every year I have less time to play video games, I´m not getting younger, and Microsoft ending everything sooner will be better for my money and my time.

Re: The Original Tomb Raider Trilogy Returns in Remaster Collection on PS5, PS4

Gbarsotini

I don´t think they will change the controls:
"While the new graphical style isn't what we'd call cutting edge, it's certainly an improvement on the jaggy originals. If you're nostalgic for that pointier look, however, you can swap to it on the fly."
If we can swap the graphics on the fly, I´m almost certain the controls will be the same.
And I´m thankfull for that.

Re: PS5 Pulling Ahead in the UK Thanks to Sony's Summer Sale

Gbarsotini

@luvgaming1001 Yeah, there´s that too. But 10 years of COD, I think the next gen are safe. For the most part anyway.
Even that way, Activision needs a lot of money to fund the games, expansions, etc. If Microsoft, in the future, is willing to give it away for free only to MS owners (I know it´s not free, but GP is cheap), they need to start thinking a way to make more money. Or a lot of franchises now in Microsoft´s umbrella will get the shaft, and they´re solely focus will be on COD at that time.
I really don´t know, is just talk and guessing, 10 years is really far away, maybe I won´t even be gaming by then. haha

Re: PS5 Pulling Ahead in the UK Thanks to Sony's Summer Sale

Gbarsotini

@luvgaming1001 I think just Diablo V will be exclusive, and that game is years away. I don't know about older COD games. But I understand your point, but Sony should definitely celebrate, even with all this news about Microsoft's purchases, they're managing to keep being the top selling video game.
To me, it just goes to show that the only company that have to be worried is Microsoft, not Sony, who will lose out on all that revenue. Kind of hard to think, even knowing all the money Microsoft had, how they're going to fund all these franchises without losing money and without Sony´s consumer base.

Re: The Last of Us' Neil Druckmann Confirms He's Writing, Directing New PS5 Game

Gbarsotini

I don´t know why, but I can´t stand that guy. Also, I´m tired of The Last of Us.
I used to love Naughty Dog, but it seems that nowadays they are a one franchise company. I´m almost sure the game is The Last of Us 3, they wont do a Game of Thrones with the franchise and let the tv series story surpass the games (in GOT case, books).
Good for Sony I guess, The Last of Us brings them money, and good for the fans.
But I really really wished that it would be or a new Uncharted or a new IP. Hope to be wrong.
Sorry for the negative comment on a Naughty Dog post, I guess it´s because it was my favourite company in previous years.
