Oh wait, silly me. It's a complete load of rubbish to get the Actiblizz deal to go through.
Oh, what's that? You really mean it? Ok, so I guess you'll be announcing Goldeneye for Xbox and PS next week too huh because you don't want to take games away from everyone else.
I bet all the people from the Xbox camp who have been saying "Kojima is overrated" for years suddenly fall silent with the hope this might be exclusive.
I doubt it will though, Kojima is and always has been very close with Sony. He said before how he will continue working with them because they allow him to fulfill his visions without interference and saw no reason to end their relationship. Likely a multiplat. Or timed at best.
I don't miss it at all.

E3 hasn't been good since 2015, It became 90 minutes per show of total boredom to the point that I just read the highlights instead.
Nintendo had/has the right idea when they started Nintendo Direct. Bite size game release dates and trailers a few times a year rather than once.
I may sound cynical, but good riddance to E3. In the age and reach of the internet E3 is a relic.

As a matter of fact I'm a highly depressed, Autistic, Epileptic, Partially Blind (will eventually be completely), Half Deaf, socially anxious man who never leaves home with no family (dead) or 'real' friends and gaming is his only release. So, no I don't work for the Samaritans.
When I can see it going down the toilet thanks to lack of worthwhile platforms, services, microtransactions, NFT's and consolidation I think I have a right to be angry.
Loved the first one, day one buy. I was surprised at EA for making a single player game. I bet they were also surprised to learn that single player games sell.
Watched the first two episodes of Kenobi today, loved it and can't wait for next week!
Every movie or TV show that ever came out from a game has been absolute garbage in my opinion. I have zero interest in them and think it's a waste of money and resources.
@SuperPotato316
The Switch is far more capable than that and they are both heavily solidified with their Japanese audiences. Just because Microsoft were trying to support a console release with Sega over 20 years ago due to their desire to muscle their way into the games industry doesn't mean they are closer. Their documentary can say otherwise but history shows more favour to their Japanese heritage than western.
It is known that Microsoft avoided releasing a console back then because after Games For Windows Live failed when Steam entered the market they tried elsewhere. First attempting to buy Nintendo, then approaching Sony and finally helping with the Dreamcast. None worked and so the Xbox was born.
Sega work very closely with Nintendo and to an extent Sony, while Xbox fans still plead for many releases that never come. Particularly from Atlus and until recently Yakuza for years. Catherine full body never came, even the most recent Persona spinoff. Or any mainline Persona game.
Do you know how Yakuza was born? The first was published by Sony on PS2 (not owned) after Sega rejected it during the merger with Sammy (look it up) and Atlus have always worked very closely with Sony both prior to Sega buying them and still now more than anyone else.
These days they work very closely with Nintendo with Sonic appearing in many collaborations with Super Mario and Smash Bros. And they're now dipping their toes in the movie business.
Microsoft beyond more westernised appealing games are often left out in the cold hence the continued calling from fans for their Japanese games. Microsoft are the last ones on their radar.
Sony now becoming more westernised, and Microsoft being exactly that and despite a very small recent headway never having a real presence in Japan would both ruin Sega. Nintendo really is the best fit if it were to happen to simply protect them from those two.
There is only one acquisition I want to see, and even though they said they're not interested in acquisitions. It's Nintendo acquiring Sega. For one reason and one reason only, to stop Sony and particularly Microsoft from ruining them.
I know that locks them down but it's better than either of those two. And Sega work very closely with Nintendo anyway. Even though I'm against consolidation they're both Japanese companies and understand each other.
Gosh, please don't let either of the other two make an offer.
@dBackLash I didn't say it didn't sell. But it appeared on a torrent site within 24 hours of appearing on Steam. Because I reported it to Sony's anti-piracy team.
I kept seeing comments on its page saying "thanks for the free game, Sony".
There are many PC players that don't pay for games which is why I wouldn't give them anything.
And by 2025 you're going to lose a lot of your player base because dedicating resources to chasing greedy MTX filled platforms over quality is going to impact your great single player games. And why bother with PC? they're a bunch of thieves. I saw GoW being torrented less than 24 hours after you launched it on Steam.
Your quality first party, single player games are the reason a lot of us stick around. Tread carefully Sony because if the quality is affected then your profit isn't going to matter without customers.
With all your recent ridiculous mind baffling and insane decisions I am a hairline close to switching back to Xbox and dumping my PS5. Even your first party games won't be enough for me to keep forgiving you.
@huyi They have apparently confirmed the games can be bought on the store if you don't want the service and I've seen some of the pricing, I think it was here at around £4 each. If you bought any classics on PS3 then those will be downloadable without charge.
I would prefer my discs but atleast I don't have to subscribe because I'm against services. More so now with the news of Sony's absolute shambles of their launch of the new one.
@Saitama117
I think that's a bit disingenuous.
.... The Titanic sank much more smoothly than this.
...And the Titanic still has a respected reputation. 🤫
@NEStalgia.
Thanks for the clarification. Still all confusing as hell and it makes me worry about purchasing and stacking cards in the future to save a few quid. I'm not trying to cheat or take advantage of a loophole but when the shop sells them on a sale it's okay to buy them, it's reasonable. I only ever buy the PSplus and don't bother with PSnow.
I think this is the most anti-consumer thing Sony have ever done, and I've never actually called them that before but it's outrageous. I'd say it's probably the second most anti-consumer thing I've ever seen in gaming since I started playing 30 years ago. They need to watch out.
@get2sammyb
Wow. People in suits sat in board rooms just don't get it do they?
They're so out of touch that they need to find a way to liaise with their customers and understand how things work for 'normal' (for lack of a better word) people.
So, do we know if they have stopped allowing us to stack subscriptions? I buy the cards from shops, normally during a little sale and for years I normally buy about 3 or 4 for a little saving. In 2018 I bought four years for £139.40, which through Sony would have cost £200.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the insanity following my recent comment but upon reading #Update2 again are they seriously charging people their full stacked term in advance?
So if you have say, three years of essential and want to try premium you have to upgrade to three years of premium? (I am actually asking)
If that's the case, Why? Why can't you just select a term, pay the term fee and allow it to revert back to essential and continue your time limit until you want to upgrade again?
Example. *Three years of Essential stacked. *Want to try Premium for one year. Pay the remaining £50
Revert back to your remaining essential tier upon expiration of premium unless opting to upgrade again.
It can be done simply by it asking "how long would you like to upgrade? Please select your tier." [One Month] [Three Months] [One Year] Seriously Sony it's not hard. I'm sorry if my understanding is correct then your service is going to fail. You've already lost.
Btw, can you still stack PSplus cards bought from shops? Or have they blocked that now?
Oh wow, Sony what were you thinking? You want your GamePass competitor, your all digital future and your live service dream and your greed literally almost killed it in one day?! The future is scary.
Who is making the decisions over there? They must be a complete moron, I mean are they actually trying to destroy PlayStation? How can you go from the dominance of PS4 to being completely clueless?
I'm just flabbergasted, how is this possible!? Have they just simply become too greedy and complacent? Is it all Jim 'idiot' Ryan?
Sorry, ranting but these are the thoughts swimming in my head right now.
In trying to compete the only thing they're going to achieve us giving Microsoft more customers. Idiots.
@huyi
Yeah, true. However since the confirmation of the games being purchasable separately for around £4 each it hardly breaks the bank for the few that I would play on PS5 just for trophy support.
For the rest I still have my discs and will keep them safe. Not that I'm defending them. This is why I always encourage anyone I know to keep their old consoles and games, don't rely on a corporation to provide you anything.
If a subscription was the only way to play them then I wouldn't do it. I'm not subscribing to this, or GamePass or anything that appears in the future.
Trophies please! I still have my physical copies but since I can't use them on PS5 (still have PS1/2) I'll happily buy it again (not subscribing to a service. Ever) for trophies.
@HammerKirby3
They were over SCART and S-Video but we're using HDMI and that can't carry 240p so they will be using 480/576i, the PS3 did the same conversion with the classic games played on it. And most modern TV's no longer support 240p either which is why gamers that use retro consoles resort to the likes of RetroTink and OSSC.
@IonMagi Already getting confused over the ridiculous naming of this service. But still, they said the second tier was PS4/5 games and the third was everything and classics added. This clearly shows some PS4 titles have been held back. What is going on here?
Wait, why are some PS4 titles being held back into the 'Extra' tier? I thought the second tier was for the PS4/5 list and 'Extra' gets all that and classic games.
While I won't be subscribing to a service I am a little excited to be able to purchase and play the classic titles. Even though I have a collection of physical PS1, 2, and 3 games I don't mind buying them again.
If Sony can really put effort into porting a large library of classics that would bolster console sales massively I think. When they are more widely available of course.
Their classic games have a special place in a lot of people's hearts. They need to make the facts of the backwards compatibility well known to be a success. That means actually get people who know how to PR properly. Do a Phil Spencer and make sure the moon can practically hear it rather than the building across the road.
@Rural-Bandit
At the end of the day the gamers suffer with games being split between platforms with third party buyouts. As for Microsoft's claims of not competing with Sony, if that were true they wouldn't take the once third party games away from other platforms, they are competing with Sony no matter what PR statement they try to push. They're both in the same market, both competing for market share.
We don't know that Microsoft are 'saving' these companies because no one else has come forward or near these big buyouts on the same level. It's all just excuses to buy out the industry. In many ways, Microsoft are doing what they accuse the others of, taking games away from other people.
I actually would be in favour of these other tech giants buying these companies, atleast the potential is there that they might still be third party releases. Like Disney with licencing Star Wars games.
It's all just bad for gamers, in the end we lose, Microsoft are not saints or saviours.
This is getting out of hand. It'll no doubt be due to losing the FIFA licence and they still want their billions.
As much as I hate acquisitions a trend has started when Microsoft bought Zenimax and all the publishers are wanting some of that big money. Since it seems to be the inevitable future Sony had better start securing a few for themselves or they'll end up with nothing but their first parties.
With the recent house clearance from SquareSoft leaving only (mostly) their Japanese business Sony would be smart to buy them. Especially if they want their 'live services' the way Final Fantasy is going.
I don't get why any game from the PS4 generation would need a remake. It makes zero sense to me, they already look great. I've yet to see any game that looks like it couldn't be played on PS4 from the PS5, the difference is unnoticeable to me and probably a lot of people that don't sit at the TV with a ruler counting pixels.
60FPS is a different story and that could be achieved with a patch. It's just like people who are asking for a Bloodboynremake, why? It won't look much different to justify it.
If they're going to do remakes then PS3 and prior would be justifiable. Otherwise it's a waste of time and resources that could be better spent on new games in my opinion. And it's not like PlayStation has money to waste on this sort of thing.
I was already certain it wasn't going to happen. Sony's dictionary is so old that the merits and meanings of the word 'effort' hadn't been printed yet.
What's the point in Ubisoft releasing a service of their own if they're just going to add it to PS+PE and GPU with no charge?
Why not just add the games to the list of the existing service of the platform holders and not bother creating your own when it doesn't do anything? Unless I'm missing something?
@K1LLEGAL
DING! DING! DING!
I'm very OCD when it comes to my trophies and if I play a trial and do not get interested in the game that will be a stain on my virtual cabinet.
This is a BIG avoid for me. But TBF I won't be subscribing in the begining if at all because I'm still against services. Just the concept of trials and trophies is a big no-no.
I was/am very obsessed over my Xbox gamerscore too. It really is maddening. 😩
@UltimateOtaku91
SH2 is regarded by many in the fan base as the best entry in the series. I liked it and 4 the most.
As for the whole 'console exclusive' part it's been rumoured for a few years now that Sony have licenced the SH and MGS IP from Konami meaning, if true, it will be/has been, developed internally. Much in the same way as Spider-Man, if true, it would be exclusive. (Likely PS/PC as the term 'console exclusive' normally implies)
Still makes me wonder why it's being removed. Maybe it's going to other platforms? But would it really be removed for that reason?
Maybe they're adding Royal, but I doubt it. No other games are being removed, just this one.
If we see it arrive on Xbox in the next few weeks following that strange tweet a few weeks back it'll make me wonder if Microsoft's money is at play again to get it removed.
@Rural-Bandit Yeah I live in the UK and I don't get FFTH in my region yet, I'm on a 100Mb connection via coaxial with Virgin Media. The price for gigabit is quite expensive here and next month they want to charge me £55 up from £32 monthly for 100Mb. After 15 years with them if they don't make a better offer than that I told them they can shove it up their ****!
I usually buy my games physical so I don't need anything much more than that as I only download updates or use it for video streaming. Although I did try RE5 on a PSNow trial once and that ran ok, even with Sony's poor implementation.
@Rural-Bandit
Off topic but when you say 400MBPS I'm assuming you mean 400 Megabits per second? (400Mb/s) Because 400 Megabytes per second would equate to a 4Gigabit connection which as far as I am aware doesn't exist in Europe or the US yet?
As an example, 1Gigabit/s is the same as 100Megabytes/s, which is a standard FTTH ISP's offer nowadays.
As much as I dislike this behaviour it is starting to look possible when you line the dots.
SE just sold their western IP's leaving just (mostly) SE Japan.
Sony just bought Bungie which is still being reviewed it seems by the FTC.
If they bought SE along with their western branch that would attract problems.
However, with SE pretty much only having their Japanese branch left that is something outside the FTC's control. There would be nothing to get in the way. That's probably why these strange things have happened of late.
I wouldn't be surprised if we hear a confirmation soon. And when Final Fantasy is a confirmed PlayStation exclusive IP there will be a lot if moaning coming from a certain hypocritical fan base I'm sure. Especially since they are still complaining about FF7R which further points to this being a possibility since the port is still nowhere to be seen.
@Rural-Bandit In regard to CoD though it is know to be one of the biggest franchises if the industry and it is believed for fair competition Microsoft have no choice to retain third party publishing, it would have likely stopped the deal from going through, I highly doubt they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.
If they could keep them exclusive they would as it would attract people to GP en-mass. Keeping Zenimax games exclusive indicates they'd do the same to any other if they could.
Of course it will go through, there is no doubt, but being (afaik) the biggest deal in gaming ever I doubt they'll be allowed any more acquisitions until a couple more years. I'm certain it would be seen as anti-competitive because they're too big too fast. And neither Nintendo nor Sony can match that spending power.
In addition, Microsoft now have more studios than Sony and Nintendo. (Not combined afaik). They may be behind in game sales, and due to GP that won't change but in sheer size they are now bigger.

Great. More reasons for me to regret buying a PS5. Every game on PlayStation is a 'timed exclusive' now.
We've gone from, "Xbox has no games." To,
"PlayStation has no games".
And.. 'Microsoft on the road to buying up half the industry.'
Soon PlayStation will be worthless. Microsoft will buy all the best stuff and Sony will give all their games away. There isn't going to be a PS6.

PAL and NTSC is a choice between 576i/50Hz or 480i/60Hz.

Re: Spider-Man Games Could Have Been Exclusive to Xbox
So can we stop hearing that Sony are 'paying to keep Spider-Man off Xbox' now? Because Microsoft had their opportunity and turned it down.
Bet we don't hear the same thing when Indiana Jones arrives after Microsoft bought the studio that is making it. (Not that I care)
Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge
@Rural-Bandit
Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge
I wouldn't mind a merger with T2. The games would stay multiplat and we could start calling them TakeTEA.
Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge
Uh-Oh. I can already see the outcome.
Phil: "Daddy, I need 100billion $"
This is getting out of hand. It'll no doubt be due to losing the FIFA licence and they still want their billions.
As much as I hate acquisitions a trend has started when Microsoft bought Zenimax and all the publishers are wanting some of that big money. Since it seems to be the inevitable future Sony had better start securing a few for themselves or they'll end up with nothing but their first parties.
With the recent house clearance from SquareSoft leaving only (mostly) their Japanese business Sony would be smart to buy them. Especially if they want their 'live services' the way Final Fantasy is going.
Re: Poll: Do PS Plus Premium's Classic Games Need Trophies for You to Play Them?
Sony are very bad at PR. They never make it clear about anything they do which forces people to press for answers for clarification.
They need a PR person on the level of Phil Spencer. When he has something to say he makes sure they can hear it on Pluto.
Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Allegedly a Major Holiday Release
Re: No Mention of Trophies for PS Plus Premium's PS1, PSP Games
I was already certain it wasn't going to happen. Sony's dictionary is so old that the merits and meanings of the word 'effort' hadn't been printed yet.
Re: Ubisoft+ Is Coming to PS5, PS4, with 50 Classics Free for PS Plus Extra, Premium By the End of the Year
What's the point in Ubisoft releasing a service of their own if they're just going to add it to PS+PE and GPU with no charge?
Why not just add the games to the list of the existing service of the platform holders and not bother creating your own when it doesn't do anything? Unless I'm missing something?
Re: PS Plus Premium's PS5, PS4 Game Trials Have Trophies, and Save Data Carries Over
@K1LLEGAL
DING! DING!
Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake from Bloober Team Reportedly in Development
@UltimateOtaku91
All rumours until confirmed of course.
Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Outsold PS4 in USA
That's one hell of an achievement! Congratulations to Nintendo, the Switch has been a runaway success. And it's a great little console to boot.
To think it launched in 2017 so it's outsold the PS4 in almost half the time.
Imagine if it reaches 160million, it will become the best selling games console of all time beating even the mighty PS2.
Since Nintendo recently stated the Switch is about half way through its lifecycle it is possible.
Can it dethrone the PS2 where nothing has even come close?
Re: SEGA Says Loads of New Games Are Coming This Year, Including Remakes and Remasters
And hopefully one of those is the rumoured Persona 4 Golden port.
Oh and announce Persona 6 and Yakuza 8. Thanks Sega, you da best.
Re: Latest PS5 Firmware Update Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes
I really don't like these new version numbers. Why couldn't they just stick with 3.73 for example. Much easier to understand. And a little iconic too.
Re: Capcom Plans to Release 'Major New Games' This Fiscal Year Amid Record Profits
I'm thinking about emailing the CEO of Capcom and asking if he wants to have a day out at a museum with me.
...then I'll show him a dinosaur and say 'gee, that's neat. Shame there isn't a game about these guys'...
Re: Reminder: Last Chance to Add Persona 5 to Your Library Through PS Plus Collection
Re: 'Multiple Sources' Said Sony Is Buying Square Enix, Allegedly
@Rural-Bandit
Yeah I live in the UK and I don't get FFTH in my region yet, I'm on a 100Mb connection via coaxial with Virgin Media.
Re: 'Multiple Sources' Said Sony Is Buying Square Enix, Allegedly
@Rural-Bandit
Re: 'Multiple Sources' Said Sony Is Buying Square Enix, Allegedly
Re: Sony's Bungie Buyout to Be Investigated by the FTC
@Rural-Bandit
In regard to CoD though it is know to be one of the biggest franchises if the industry and it is believed for fair competition Microsoft have no choice to retain third party publishing, it would have likely stopped the deal from going through, I highly doubt they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.
