The outrage is so incredibly dumb. I don't think a single game in my rather extensive PS4/PS5 library is full on disc.
The purpose of physical media is tying ownership to a physical object, as opposed to it being account-bound. None of you are archivists (clearly, because then you'd know physical media are never used for preservation).
But raaaaah we have to be angry at the evil vidya game corpos. Grown men. Ridiculous.
As a reluctant AI consultant I can safely say that AI is the worst technological development in history. Forget trying to subterfuge art, people and more importantly young people are being manipulated into relying on AI to perform cognitive tasks. Finding and validating information is a vital skill, which is going to be lost if AI becomes mainstream for the upcoming generation.
Even if they fixed it up perfectly, isn't it just another shooter in a heavily saturated market? Who's to say it would have performed well even in the best of circumstances?
Metroidvania has to be the most incorrectly used video game term of all time. The term has become absolutely meaningless when an isometric action rpg or action adventure game is called one.
With subscriptions, you don't make selective decisions about which games to purchase and subsequently spend time playing. As a result, you form a weaker, non-committal connection to it. It does not surprise me at all that Gamepass players have a lower retention rate, many of them are simply trying it out because it's there.
Damn PushSquare, will you stop shilling the live service model? This is getting beyond ridiculous. Listen to the feedback of your readers. Have some dignity, for crying out loud.
If it's constructive feedback you want, consider what you're writing and who you're writing it for. Live service games are bad for everyone involved (except for the suits lining up their pockets). Players pay full price for bad, unfinished games, and are bombarded with dark pattern manipulation to keep them playing to perpetuate the revenue stream as long as possible. Granted, I understand and respect that far from everyone is as much against live service games as I am. But celebrating it comes across as incredibly tone deaf or worse, paid to shill an anti-consumer business model. It is not the first time this has happened on Push Square.
Building a physical PS4/PS5 library, as I get the vibe that physical media won't be the norm after this generation. I'm not about those live services and subscriptions.
