Re: Elden Ring (PS5) - By Far FromSoftware's Best Ever Game

Denni5m

@jacktexan yeah the HDR is broken, like so many games these days. I have a $3000 43inch 144hz 4K vesa certified HDR 1000 beast of a gaming monitor and I had to turn off HDR, they need to patch it to add tweaks to brightness it's just too dim. It's much better playing in SD and tbh you don't miss much anyway. The only game I can think of recently that did HDR good was the Nior 2 remaster for PS5, even GT7 HDR is broken.

Re: Elden Ring (PS5) - By Far FromSoftware's Best Ever Game

Denni5m

I have played and finished all the soulsbourne games and I say this is the best game. There is such a better exploration element here plus you still get all the usual dark souls tighter sections. It's much less frustrating as well with the stakes to spawn at and more bonfires everywhere you can warp to easily.
One thing which is annoying is that first boss is a bit OP it takes quite a while and too many attempts to beat him I think, he is more a late game boss considering your level when you are meant to reach him, not sure why they placed him at the start.
Frame rate on PS5 is fine, they actually made it worse a little with the day 2 patch but it's not that bad, way better than playing at 30fps like on the older games.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) - The Real Driving Simulator Makes Its Grand Return

Denni5m

Like I said before the game released, it feels more like a GT Sport DLC pack where they added a single player mode. 4 years for 3 new tracks and a handful of cars running the same graphics engine? It's very slick looking the rug they pull over everyone's eyes, but it's still just a facade, underneath this is just GT sport with some new single player modes.
Fair enough if they dropped a new game like this every 1 or 2 years where it was small updates I would be saying well done, but this was almost 5 years, where's the new content? Small studios like Kunos can pump out More content and better quality than this in a quarter of the time.
It's a great little experience that will be novel for a week or so and then I personally will be back on a real driving simulator. The driving is just too shallow on this, I get that most people will love it and good for you guys, enjoy. Just giving my perspective as a serious Sim racer.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

Denni5m

@Mariosmaster1 a 2070 can't play 4k 60 on even the old horizon, and most other modern games unless it was using dlss and turned down to performance mode and even then it would struggle. I used to have a rtx 2070 super(slightly more powerful than the ps5 GPU) and that was a 1440p card, 4k was never really playable unless you started turning things down to medium and ran dlss.
This is the problem, the ps5 is Underpowered. I have being saying it since the start and all I get is fan Bois get upset about it, but now with the last few games we start to see people starting to actually realise they can't still game in 4k and starting to realise the ps5 and series X are both underpowered.
I have a 3070 on my rig and even that has trouble with 4k on most games and barely maintains 60fps. They need to drop a pro version and have the new rdna 3 GPU in it that is at least twice as powerful as what they have now in the ps5. That will then finally allow 4k60.
In any case this game isn't that bad in performance mode in terms of what's on screen, but it does look very blurry on a 4k tv especially in the scenes with lots of foliage.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

Denni5m

Like I have been saying ever since release, ps5 is underpowered and we already need a pro version.
They should have just made it a touch more expensive and given us 6800xt GPUs in there to begin with.
I can't play it on 30fps its just way too janky, especially for a action game like this. Performance mode is fine, just looks like a PS4 pro game though really.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dying Light 2?

Denni5m

@frankmcma if you compare to pc you realise that a RTX 2070 (which is basically what a PS5 is) can only run modern games in 1440p, and since they don't offer that option they need to cut it back to 1080p for 60fps, especially in games like where the engine isn't the best. 4k is just too much for most modern games unless you are using DLSS and something like a 3070 or above then you can push to or past 4k60Fps with decent graphics otherwise anything less is 1440P land.

My point: the ps5 is underpowered, we are going to need a pro version and quick as well. its woefully underpowered for 2022 especially once the new PC cards come out at the end of this year we will be 2 generations behind then already.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dying Light 2?

Denni5m

The game is very good verging on great, it's got issues sure but the rest of everything else more than makes up for it. For starters it's fun to just run around and climb or go exploring, so pretty much job done right there. I think it looks ok on PS5 performance mode, sure it's only 1080p but it looks fairly good, like a very well made PS4 pro game would have looked but at 60fps instead of 30.
And I'm not sure why people whinge about the story so much, it's not that great sure, but it's also not completely ass and you actually like some of the characters especially towards the end.
For me the story on these games are irrelevant anyway as this game is all about exploring and core gameplay.
It does get repeative about 20 hours or so in, but you still end up playing anyway for some reason. Maybe just at the moment there isn't much else in my to play pile, or maybe it's just addictive. Either way money well spent for a very enjoyable first 20 hours.

Re: Bungie's New Destiny Expansion Amasses One Million Pre-Orders

Denni5m

@KingPev I'm not talking in terms of money making because they obviously kill it with destiny. But in terms of making games we actually want to play I think they are dead, they will keep turning the screws on these destiny games and then eventually no one will want to play it anymore in a few years and the studio will be disbanded because they have nothing else to offer.
Your welcome for my insight, Ask me anytime. 😀

Re: Bungie's New Destiny Expansion Amasses One Million Pre-Orders

Denni5m

They overpaid, this a dying studio. Halo is dead and destiny won't make its development money back on Number 3 I reckon. People will expect too much and the game will be too like part 2 and there will be something better come along so we will see the player base jump ship to the new shiny game.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Is Still Swinging

Denni5m

@Beefy01 That excuse is a load of *****, covid is just a convenient excuse for everyone these days. Software and game development wouldn't have any issues pivoting to work from home. 2-3 months and ok i understand becasue that would be the time to get everyone rolling again and to account for losing people, but some games have blown out by a year now. So even without covid we still would have had most games coming out in 2022 sometime anyway.

Re: PS Plus Games for December 2021 Are Available to Download Now

Denni5m

The last 6 months have been dismal on PS5, there is no new game that I even would install for free at the moment. Next year seems to be ok for AAA games on console but at the moment there is nothing I don't already own. The last game I have bought was tales of arise and before that it was months before anything as well because there just hasn't been any great games.
I find myself just playing PC now as the ps5 is a disappointment so far

Re: Battlefield 2042 (PS5) - Maybe One for the Future

Denni5m

The problem with this game at the moment I think is that it's just way too unbalanced.
The beauty of bf1 and BFV was that it relied on squad based infantry combat for the most part, now we are back to the BF3 days of just rubbish overpowered vechile warfare and it was a dumb move. Personally I think they should have redone Vietnam or just expanded on WW2 again.

Re: GTA Vice City's Fan PS Vita Port Pitted Against Nintendo Switch Remaster

Denni5m

Hopefully people stop buying this remastered rubbish on pre order now or any games in general on pre order. Most journalists are to blame as well as they give games like cyberpunk high scores when it doesn't even run as well. Something going on, either fan Bois giving high scores or they are getting kick backs or editorial oversight because of ad revenue (basically kick backs). Either way you cut it, it's very bad.

Re: You Can Save Scum Using Returnal's New Suspend Cycle Feature on PS5

Denni5m

I remember I had a run of the gods and had such OP drops and weapons I was a beast and beat 3 bosses in the one run and made it to the under water biome only to be beaten by a lowly mid tier boss.
This is the whole point of the game tho, you keep playing to try and get a epic run, having the ability to save scum defeats the whole point of the game. Lucky it's such a process so most people won't know or bother.
And it needs it in this game, because the runs like mine can go for hours and if you need to stop you need to be able to resume once at least like they did.

Re: Chinese Open World RPG Honor of Kings Looks Mind Bogglingly Good

Denni5m

But you can only play it 1 hour per day lol. The graphics look ok but it's easy to make cell shaded stuff look like that in a trailer with tons of DOF and motion blur among other trickery.
Hopefully it's good, but I would give 5 to 1 that it turns out to get 70s in metacritic when all is said and done.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for November 2021?

Denni5m

@KundaliniRising333 well said! I agree, these are all budget games other than Amular and I already have it and I couldn't play it again on current gen. Like you said it's a PS3 game and trying to play it now is very hard as it's shallow in comparison to modern games.
I see a lot of internet forums just become echo chambers of positive posts for no reason other than to give each other pats on the back for being fans. It's not very objective to just praise everything with no discussion about the negatives of the subject matter.
In my opinion Sony are just constantly giving us the faff that is left over and no one is buying and on the occasion we do get a good game it's usually because it's very old, about to get a sequel and needs hype, or the publisher isn't selling it anymore and wants to offload DLC or microtransactions on it.

Re: Kazunori Yamauchi Shows Off More Gran Turismo 7 in Another Behind the Scenes

Denni5m

@CosmoSix5 the problem here is they didn't make a new game. It's just GT sport's engine with more tracks and a new front end GUI. The engine is exactly the same they are just setting the parameters higher for dynamic resolution and on reflections and shadow resolutions.
So basically they could have released this as an update for GT sport or a new game like they were planning to a few years ago but instead they are so over budget in time they launched it as a PS5 game.
GT sport was only meant to be a stop gap between the full GT versions but we never got a proper game on PS4.

Re: Mini Review: Gleylancer (PS5) - Solid 1992 Mega Drive Shmup Shines Again

Denni5m

@Loki7T1 I'm just stating my opinion. This game looks like garbage. You are getting caught up in the Symantec's of my c64 statement and avoiding the point.
For me there are way too many games that have been released in the last 5 years that are better than this, why go and torture yourself to play this then? The only logical explanation is the one I pointed out, people are doing it to seem cool or nostalgia/something bizarre like that.
It's like a cult has formed where people only play these types of games just to talk/brag about playing it, like a notch in their belt. They don't really actually enjoy these games more than modern ones, they enjoy the process of playing it to talk about it. Fair enough I get it, but don't go giving the game a 8/10 then. It's just not worthy of a score like that in 2021, reviews are meant to be relevant to the era they are written in.

Re: Mini Review: Gleylancer (PS5) - Solid 1992 Mega Drive Shmup Shines Again

Denni5m

Looks like complete trash. Not sure how you can give a game a score of 8 when it looks like this rubbish. It's like it was made for a c64, it's 2021 not the early 90s.
This is why have remakes of remakes now, people are prepared to pay for junk just because it's hipster gamers that think retro is cool.
It's not... New games are good, old games are old and rubbish now compared to what we have now.
Anyone that actually pays for this is just trying to seem cool or something, why else would you play this over the thousands of current games?

Re: After Disastrous Launch, Konami Delays Crucial eFootball PS5, PS4 Update

Denni5m

@Integrity Governments need to step in I think and just outlaw games with lootboxes or any gambling/card pack mechanics.
Especially in the USA (NBA 2k) and Europe (FIFA/pes). The studios are just going to get more and more aggressive with it each year, especially it it's free to play. I think even when they fix pes it's going to basically be a casino unless you pay for the non free version which has Master League.

.

Re: After Disastrous Launch, Konami Delays Crucial eFootball PS5, PS4 Update

Denni5m

Communication is key, I feel they should have slapped a early access banner all over it and made a statement that said that it is still in beta before launch. And also said they knew the game was unfinished but wanted to get it in the hands of everyone so we could help beta test.
People would have loved them for that, instead they pretended like it was a stripped down version and then started selling packs for a broken game you can't even use yet.

To me pes was stagnated anyway over the last few years, they hadn't made any big leap in anything it was all just a bit of polish each year. FIFA seemed to make some big improvements and I was starting to get swayed that way anyway.
I think especially for all of the people like me who don't play online at least, we will move to FIFA now for the next few years at least.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Behind the Scenes Video Is Just Kaz on a Stool

Denni5m

@4kgk2 I'm a Sony guy first, and used to be a mega GT fan boy, but Forza Motorsport 7 is a better game than GT6 or GT 7 Prologue (Gt Sport) . The physics are basically the same as GT Sport but there is an actual game as well. It's probably a touch more arcade and forgiving but GT sport isn't no Asetto Corsa or iRacing anyway. I would rather play Forza than GT sport.
PD have been lost ever since GT Prologue on PS3 and them taking 6 years to make GT5...

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Behind the Scenes Video Is Just Kaz on a Stool

Denni5m

Finally they patch GT sport in to a full title. This is GT sport's engine with a proper frontend and single player missions and a few more cars and tracks. It's taken them since gt 6 to produce this. So all of the PS4 life span and now 2 years in to ps5 as well, this was meant to be a launch title. And before that it was meant to be on PS4 as well, but they just never did.
I'm sick of waiting 5 years for a new game from them every time, especially now with ACC and other games that have much better physics, force feedback, sounds, immersion and online modes.
I think I'll wait for a second hand copy if it gets good reviews from the Sim community.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 PS5 Versions Delayed into 2022

Denni5m

Hopefully they spare everyone the cyberdisappointment that it is. Even on PC bug free with RT and all the shinies it still feels like a hollow game because the city is dead. There is no sense of purpose, you just go from one quest to the next with nothing really to pull you through the game and want to see what happens next.
The first 5 hours are pretty cool, but then the facade just crumbles and you are left with a very shallow gaming experience.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Release Date Could Be Close as Game Gets Age Rated in Europe and US

Denni5m

Really? Im fascinated by the fact that these studios can just keep recharging people for the same game over and over again on different consoles. It's great game, but now many times do you want to play the same game?
This is why we only get 2 good AAA games a year now, these guys just keep making money off the game they released 10 years ago, for zero investment now...
In 2022 we will get Demon's Souls Inception, a remaster of the remake, just because they can lol... It will be number 1 seller for 17 weeks straight.
I think I might have to give gaming a break for a while and come back after these Devs remaster each other to death and all that is left is 8k Pong in VR and it's up to 27 remasters deep.

Re: Far Cry 6 (PS5) - The Best Game in the Series, Sort Of

Denni5m

I see every complaining about the ammo, but you can just use armour piercing for everything and it's OP. I just always had a rifle and a sniper with that ammo, and one lmg with explosive rounds for vehicles.
The problem with the game for me was that after the first family and a little in to the second it just got boring I was already way OP for everything by then and there was nothing left to unlock in terms of weapons, so why should I keep playing?
They needed to make us work more for weapons and lock them away behind quests and stuff. If you wanted you could get some of the most powerful in the game after only 2 hours of play.
With nothing left to play for other than to progress the story I just lost interest and gave up.
It was fun while it lasted tho, I got about 20-25 hours out of it. I would give it 8/10, especially with the state of games at the moment coming out broken ass, at least this looks great, and does what it says on the box.

Re: Video: 5 Ways PS Vita Was Ahead of Its Time

Denni5m

@theheadofabroom I understand where you are coming from. I am a PC gamer as well which is why I think this device is woefully underpowered for this time in gaming. I see games like The Ascent which would have a hard time running in this at 720p or what about Forza Horizon 5, that REQUIRES a GTX 970.
So it's clear what will happen in about 2 years then if we already have games like this now. The industry is making a big leap now because of the new consoles and they aren't making games anymore that run on base PS4 specs.
I understand that it would be about double the price and heavier, but I would bet that it would still sell out anyway. Especially if it had a dock mode...
It's just a missed opportunity for them to take a large segment of the market.
It's going to be a hard sell for them in 2 years if it can't run all the new shiny games coming out.

Re: Video: 5 Ways PS Vita Was Ahead of Its Time

Denni5m

@theheadofabroom the graphics card in the base PS4 can hardly run modern games and it's more powerful than the steam deck.
Im not even talking about ray tracing, just normal raster graphics will be an issue for it 2 years trust me. I get it you want it to be good, so do I, but the truth is that in 2 years they will be pretty much useless for the new games coming out that require a 1080 minimum specs. We will start to see these games later this year and early next where a base PS4 has absolutely no chance of running the game at 30fps even with everything turned down.
The point I'm making is, that they should have just charged extra and put a better graphics chip in it. You can't argue that it would have been better and still sold out surely?

Re: Video: 5 Ways PS Vita Was Ahead of Its Time

Denni5m

@theheadofabroom yeah you are right there will be heaps of 2d and indie games that run fine.
But for me a handheld also has to be able to play games like dragon quest, valkyria Chronicles, wasteland 3, xcom. And in a couple years the min requirements for new games like that will be higher than what the steam deck can do.
This is my point, they should have just charged a few hundred extra and put a proper laptop graphics chip like the rtx 3070 or 3080. Then we would have the complete package.
It's still a cool device but it's a wasted opportunity to really do something great. They would have sold out anyway even at double the price, especially in today's crazy world.
