@Agramonte steam deck is going to be ok and I'll def get one, but the problem will be games are not made for it so there will be a lot of games that won't run on it well enough to play Properly in about 2 years when everything is going for 1080ti as recommended specs. It won't have the horsepower even at 720p.
They needed to jam a proper laptop discreet version of the rtx 3080 in there and just charge extra. Or at least something better than the APU it's got. 1.6 tflops isn't going to cut it.
So basically the PC version from 20 years ago... It will look exactly like the PC version did back then with the option hi res texture packs you could get, so if you want to see what that looks like, look up a old review from back then, warning it's bloody horrible. https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/grand-theft-auto-vice-city-review/1900-2895954/
There is no fixing the super low polygon count and other 2003 crap, I don't understand why people would want to pay for this junk in 2021, it should be free.
@Old-Red I think it was just a fact of them slapping something together for Sony that fit the brief of make it playable for casuals, and they didn't have enough time to make a full game. Your absolutely right tho, there is no way anyone reasonable could give it a 10. That is just absolutely rubbish, is it the first game they have ever played or something. Absolute fan Bois, or absolute shills and taking money from someone to give it a 10. Either camp is very bad for a reviewer to sit in.
I think we already got dying light a few years ago, I might be wrong. If we hadn't got it yet that would be my number one pick if they are bringing out a ps5 updated version the month it comes out. If no ps5 updated version it could drop very soon to build up hype for part 2.
I don't particularly care but I think it will probably be devil may cry ps5, or Aliens fireteam elite or Metro Exodus on PS5, they are all games that aren't selling well and could use a boost in player count or have already been through the cycle and just wringing out every last dollar. Or they might just be really stingie and give us a indie game that costs $20 when not on sale lol. Not sure about PS4 games, to many possibilities...
@LazyLombax I agree with the indie feel, it doesn't feel like a full priced game. It's more of a demo for what they could have made if Sony gave them more time.
@Shions_Glasses this is not even in the same league as Prey. This is a shell of that game and yet it's getting 10s? Something not right with some of those professional reviewers like IGN....
It's no where near as good as Prey or the 2 dishonoured games. The world is much more casual with hardly anything to interact with and skills that just don't matter.
Also 4 maps? Come on, they aren't even that big as well.
It's a solid 6 or 7 still tho just because of how well the stuff it has in there is put together, but it's very targeted at more casual gamers rather than those looking for deep complex Intertwined systems to play with.
I'm not sure why they went backwards in complexity and depth for a more casual shooter that is very easy and has dumb ai, it's annoying and a slap in the face to fans of Prey and their other games. It seems they are just straight up going after the dollars now.
I don't really care, whatever, I played it and moved on after about 80% as I just couldn't be bothered, it's just annoying it scored so high, and to me it really shows the quality of games on ps5 when it came out if this was getting 10s from some people as they were so deprived of great games.
@Weebleman yeah same here, but progress is good lol. And at least now we don't have to watch colourful lines across the screen for 15 mins only to be greeted with a error message! Damn you California Games!
@TheGrizMan yeah I actually have one laying around as well but just CBF, it works fine. It's better to have them on, but for people who are afraid of attaching them or don't have one it's fine to just use.
@HotGoomba you don't need it at all, I've been running mine since the firmware dropped and never had issues even with high demand SSD games like Rachet and Clank or returnal. They are designed to slow down if they get too hot, but looking where it is located I don't think that will be an issue, its in a own enclosed area that also has cooling.
Why would you pay for 15 year old games, a potato PC or laptop could run those now, it's even on phones now.
I don't understand why people keep buying these ancient games, what you have nothing to play that came out in the last 2 years?
Really we should all be boycotting Rockstar until they release a current game, instead of shilling 15 year old junk.
Maybe then these casual gamers or 10 year Olds that are buying them will actually stop because it's not cool to play GTA and nothing else like a gamer noob.
I was waiting for them to make it in to proper rpg with turned based fights ever since around part 4. The fighting just got so boring, even when playing as all the chars in part 5 it was still just boring to me. I hope they don't go back for main games and keep it turned based it deserves to be a proper rpg and not a button masher.
Like a Dragon was refreshing to me with party management and combat you needed to think a little about (was too easy still in some parts) and I don't think I could have played through a whole game again with fighting mechanics.
That said they need to add some new cities for the next one we haven't really had a new full sized location in the new engine yet except for Yokohama in like a Dragon, but it wasn't that large of a map and only one location. We had other little tiny places like the small city in Yakuza 6 but that was very small. We have had about 10 games now and only really had Okinawa, Shinjuku, and Yokohama as main cities, part 5 was the biggest and since then maps have been smaller and smaller.
These games would be amazing if they added a whole Tokyo area like from Shibuya to Shinjuku and had train stations for fast travel like persona. I get very bored now in these games unless it's not Shinjuku, there is only so many times you can walk around the streets there and go to that damn Sega arcade in the main square lol!
Some of these are just plain weird, like ff12 ? The remaster is already vastly better and runs fine. These posts just to drum up interaction and ad revenue are so obvious and yet here I am posting lol.
@viktorcode I think you will find it's 6.7ms for 120hz 4k which is the standard pretty much these days. Sony are quoting input lag at 120hz as well.
I was trying to point out that LG and Samsung's had the same specs back in 2020 and Sony are overcharging for their Box which has now only just caught up to have 4k 120 usable for gamers.
I went through a whole saga last year buying a new screen to use on ps5 and PC and first bought a gaming widescreen, sold it because I didn't like the black bars on ps5, then couldn't get a LG CX (best tv at time for gaming) so got a Samsung (can't remember model but was gaming 120hz 4k mode) which was pure garbage and didn't work properly with any 120hz 4k and would flicker, so then returned that and got a large format Gaming monitor instead.
So I have some recent experience with this lol. 😀
@Rjak ahh I just saw 6ms and thou5 they were talking about response time. The Bible on this is here: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag At 120hz 6ms seems to be the standard for good TV's with game mode enabled.
@KingPev yeah for sure. Forza comes out on PC now as well, I think all the Microsoft studios games going forward will drop on PC as well as xbox so even more reason to just get a PC and not Xbox. If you have to pick.
@Spanky lg CX TV's do1ms. Also pretty much every large format gaming monitors do 1ms as well and some do 144hz (if you don't need the actual TV tuner). So if Sony are marketing this as gaming TV then it's not very good compared to the competition. (I'm Not sure if they are marketing as gaming TV though)
@KingPev we will just need to own PCs or xboxs to play Bethesda's exclusives, no big deal they only release a good game every few years anyway for those that can't afford to have multiple consoles or PC. Its actually better for us gamers in the long run I think because Sony and Xbox will throw more and more money at the studios to try and out do each other, where as before the studios had no one to answer to and were driven by profits. They still are driven by profit, but now we have an additional driver as well from their owners/key stakeholders.
I disagree, the first 10 months were abysmal, we had Spiderman and demon's souls only for about 6 months and then finally got returnal. And it wasn't until rachet and Clank and other games started dropping that we actually had something to play. So while it's very good now and accelerating, I was disappointed for the first year pretty much.
@frankmcma no this is for pure nostalgia only if you played the original back in the day, compared to today's games it's not good at all. Only buy if you have all the other Diablo like games on PS already.
@those that won't buy it due to drama:
I have not a care in the world about the politics of the company that makes the game, I'm of the opinion that politics should be kept out of the same world as game reviews because you are reviewing a piece of entertainment, not the company. They will get what's due in the courts if there are issues there, why do we gamers have to keep hearing about it over and over? It's just echo chamber clickbait stuff, let's move on and enjoy the games instead of getting caught up in drama. Hats off to the reviewer for not getting caught up in the drama as well!
The game really shows its age even with new graphics, I couldn't play for more than an hour because I just came off the back off Diablo 3, POE and Grim Dawn. This just seems like rubbish after those games now. For anyone that wants a top down rpg looter on PS, go play Diablo 3 or the van Helsing and Victor vran games first and then play Poe if it suits (it's too unbalanced and you get way to OP for me but still much better than this), because they are all vastly better. This really should be a free game with a trade store that has a rake.
Tbh that gameplay looked pretty janky and the game looks low budget. Taking a big leap and Judging a book from the cover now I would say it will be very average and get 6s and 7s because it lacks depth and polish.
@MakersMark this is what I have been saying for years, just let us pick 1 game everymonth from a selection. I don't want 3 games I'll never play. Even if they are Indies or budget games at least we can pick what we like.
I'm actually pleased this month, I'll play Hell let loose and PGA as well, I was actually about to buy PGA as it was so cheap so at least I got a game I'll eventually (too busy this month with all the good releases lately) play this month.
But I agree to include MKX is an insult, it's already free for us ps5 owners and it is so old and been on sale plus it's already obsolete as mk11 has been out for ages. This was just a straight up cop out as they already owned it and just included it because they didn't want to spend money on another licence for something new.
We are paying for this service so we should be getting value. If they don't want to provide games then that's cool just give us a option to play online for free. The costs of them running the psn network would be such a low proportional amount to the money they make off of games that it should just be covered by them and not expect users to pay for it. So if they are going to charge us for this "service" they need to add value. They know this, so they give us "free" games everymonth that aren't actually free.
I'm not proposing they go full gamepass as that business model is not sustainable and that is basically a Ponzi scheme that needs an ever increasing number of users to be sustainable, when the new user count on gamepass starts slowing down enough it's going to be way too costly for MS to pay for all those game licences and it will then cease to exist the way it is now, but hey they already have everyone signed up by that point so their view is to lose some money now for the hope that people will stay subscribed in 2 years when they cut it right back to something like 2 new games a month like PS plus.
This is not a good business plan for Sony as they already have the majority lead in consoles in homes. But like I said they need maintain that they add value, and for majority of ps4 users this month is another really crappy month.
@Stragen8 I think it is meant to say that the timer starts as soon as you start the downloaded game. Once the game starts the first time that's it you have 5 hours regardless of if you turn off PS5. Surely Sony can't be that stupid and mean to people with crappy connections if what is written is true.
@Agramonte yeah I agree, I played Cyberpunk on PC from day 1 and it was fine, about the same buggyness of the Witcher series, the game on the other hand was just shallow and I only played about 15 hours and gave up. (Disappointing as I built a brand new PC just for that game a few weeks before it dropped) The console port should have just been postponed and they would have been fine.
Rise of the tomb raider is a better game than half life 2 so it should beat it if such an open ended question is asked.
Have you tried to play it recently, it's not that great next to a modern game.
I remember at the time playing it, it was great with cool physics you could manipulate but games like Prey or deus ex are much better now if that's your thing.
If you are going to rate games across time it's unfair to the old ones as the new games are just so much better in everyway. And before some of you get worked up over this, it's my opinion as a 43 year old gamer who was playing Atari 2600 when I was 4 years old and never put a joystick down since then so I have played them all at the time they were released.
Old games are not as good as new ones, there was no where near the production values we have now back then, and it shows.
If you are going to discount advances in time and tech and go for the biggest impacting game I think probably one of the Mario's would have it or for me personally probably Gran Turismo, they were way ahead of everything else.
At the era half life 2 came out there where a lot of quality fps like unreal, unreal tournament, system shock and so on, not sure why people hold half life 2 on such a pedistal, it was good but not time transcending good.
@rachetmarvel yeah that was a cash in on the FF name, they hadn't released a game all generation on PS3 so decided to churn out something to make some money, from memory I think this is the first new FF game after they merged as square Enix as well and wasn't something square started by themselves. Basically they had lost their way...
12 for me but 10 was probably very close. I just replayed 12 again on PS4 remaster a couple years ago (still held up in looks as well!) the whole way through but couldnt get all the way through 10 again.
For me the best thing about RPGs is the combat, skill systems and character progression, which 12 has one of the best systems of any RPG.
7,8,9 hold a special place in my heart but looking back they weren't actually as good as the later games and were quite tedious for large parts of the games.
@b1ackjack yeah it surprised me as well, and on ps5 looks great. It was one of my most played games this year I love the depth it has to all its systems and the combat is very satisfying.
D2R, Death Stranding DC, and I might finish deathloop (I kind of lost interest when I got about half way through), I put Tales of arisen down for now while I finish the others first as I want to enjoy that in a massive binge fest where I only play that.
I have it but I realised that I didn't even finish part 1 (which was the only Yakuza game I haven't finished), and after like a dragon I can't bring myself to play them anymore.
Going forward I don't think I'll ever buy a button masher combat Yakuza series game again and I'll only play the turn based ones from now on for me.
I was already over the whole series because of the fighting mechanic before, and unless they make something with combat as fun as god of war I much prefer the turn based combat over mashing the same combo out 20,000 times.
I just started again as I don't really care if there is a new game plus, I just wanted to experience the game again in about better quality. It doesn't look as good as the PC version which is annoying. I was hoping they would optimise it better for ps5. Ahh well, it's still very cool. I wish I hadn't played it and and could experience this version the first time on a ps5
ive realised that the only logical reason why gamespot and ign scored it so highly is that they are trying to reward games that are not cookie cutter games that take a risk so studios like Arkane (who deserve it) can get funding to make other games. but this game is just very average and only a 7 or 8 at best. its very shallow after the honey moon first few hours when the shine wears off and you are left with a world that only has 4 maps and hardly anything to do in them. no way you can give this game a 10 realistically, that is just crazy talk. Shine and coolness don't make a whole gaming experience, its like playing a game from the 90's with 2021 graphics and production budgets.
Its like Arkane dumbed them selves down and rushed out a game just because Sony probably paid them mega bucks, its kind of a sell out and i will be cautious with any of their future games now and probably buy second hand .
I haven't played much NBA2k games in the last decade until the last 2 years, and while they look great now(they always did even with NBA Live as well) the game play is so clunky and slow now. And the microtransactions are just obnoxious. I'll be missing this one because the last one on ps5 left a bad taste in my mouth with how hard they make it to enjoy the career mode because they want you to buy VC. It could be such a good experience if they just made a game instead of a microtransaction store wrapped in a basketball game. Imagine a career mode with proper progression or customisation like PES master league, it would be awesome, instead we get a cut back game that makes you feel like a loser to try to make you buy VC.
The standard myNba is ok but still doesn't have a mode where you take a scrappy team or player and bring them up to win it all. You have to enforce your own imaginary rules if you want to play like that rather than the game give you that experience.
I'll wait for it to be $20 on sale like I did with 2k21 give it a shot again.
@andy24king . It runs very poorly already on ps5 so I think they just didn't have enough time, and it seems very rushed for Arkane, the maps are no where near as well designed as dishonoured 2 and Prey, to me it seems like a big rush job. Plus Sony wanted a system seller, so PS4 was not even in scope for them.
On a side note Not sure how anyone with some integrity could score it a 10.
HDR is broken, it's way to dark and they left out any calibration other than brightness. Seems like it was slighty rushed, it's pretty buggy for me as well, only 5 hours in and already had 3 lock ups and had to exit game to fix.
Apart from that I would probably give it a 7, it's very polished and stylised but doesn't have the substance of prey or dishonoured. There is too little to do in the maps and not enough of them. The time doesn't really change that much, 4 maps is 4 maps and they aren't that big either with hardly anything interactable.
@SJBUK cost is a seperate issue, for people who have enough money to pay for a more expensive ps5 it's annoying that it's already starting to get left behind by PC and even Xbox. I would have happly paid $200 more for a more cutting edge GPU in it to start with. I'm sure a lot of people would have as well going off the fact you still can't buy them as they are sold out.
@Fiendish-Beaver tbh their core audience is multiplayer gamers, they would see the stats of how much the single player gets used on the last 2 games and probably realised it's not worth the Dev costs for the minimal sales it brings.you can't really blame them for making a game that best suits their player base. I personally never touch the single player campaigns on these for more than a hour before jumping online just to learn the new physics and gameplay, and now you can use bots to practice so no need at all for me.
@OmegaStriver the last 2 bf games have ran fine on console on launch, I've had them both on launch and don't remember any issues except for small things like guns needing a nerf or etc. They had a few server side issues here and there but nothing major. I think it will be fine again this time.

Re: Review: Diablo 2: Resurrected (PS5) - This 21-Year Belated Console Debut Still Impresses
Re: Wanted: Dead Is a Hyperviolent PS5 Action Game from the Director of Ninja Gaiden
Tbh that gameplay looked pretty janky and the game looks low budget. Taking a big leap and Judging a book from the cover now I would say it will be very average and get 6s and 7s because it lacks depth and polish.
Re: Bandai Namco Reveals New Logo, Everyone Hates It
Fu©k they really are just looking more and more like a cheap knock off version of their past self.
Re: Sony Allegedly Funding Kojima Productions Silent Hill Game
@GingerSilent but why, the rumour cycle is good for them, why stop it. It's free marketing.
Re: PS Plus PS5, PS4 Games for October 2021 Announced
@MakersMark this is what I have been saying for years, just let us pick 1 game everymonth from a selection. I don't want 3 games I'll never play. Even if they are Indies or budget games at least we can pick what we like.
Re: PS Plus PS5, PS4 Games for October 2021 Announced
Re: Predator: Hunting Grounds (PS4) - Multiplayer Experiment Falls Wildly Short
@jly1987 yeah but it's very broken as well so it should get even lower in my opinion. We shouldnt reward Devs for releasing broken games.
Re: Sony Introduces Game Trials, Try PS5 Games for a Limited Time
@Stragen8 I think it is meant to say that the timer starts as soon as you start the downloaded game. Once the game starts the first time that's it you have 5 hours regardless of if you turn off PS5. Surely Sony can't be that stupid and mean to people with crappy connections if what is written is true.
Re: Konami Apologises for the State of eFootball at Launch
@Agramonte yeah I agree, I played Cyberpunk on PC from day 1 and it was fine, about the same buggyness of the Witcher series, the game on the other hand was just shallow and I only played about 15 hours and gave up. (Disappointing as I built a brand new PC just for that game a few weeks before it dropped)
The console port should have just been postponed and they would have been fine.
Re: Best PS4 Strategy Games
Valkyria Chronicles hands down the best tactical games on any system really. The Xcoms are great as well.
Re: God of War Wins IGN's Big Best Video Game of All Time Poll
Re: Poll: Vote For the Best Final Fantasy Game on PlayStation
@rachetmarvel yeah that was a cash in on the FF name, they hadn't released a game all generation on PS3 so decided to churn out something to make some money, from memory I think this is the first new FF game after they merged as square Enix as well and wasn't something square started by themselves. Basically they had lost their way...
Re: Poll: Vote For the Best Final Fantasy Game on PlayStation
12 for me but 10 was probably very close. I just replayed 12 again on PS4 remaster a couple years ago (still held up in looks as well!) the whole way through but couldnt get all the way through 10 again.
For me the best thing about RPGs is the combat, skill systems and character progression, which 12 has one of the best systems of any RPG.
7,8,9 hold a special place in my heart but looking back they weren't actually as good as the later games and were quite tedious for large parts of the games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 395
@b1ackjack yeah it surprised me as well, and on ps5 looks great. It was one of my most played games this year I love the depth it has to all its systems and the combat is very satisfying.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 395
D2R, Death Stranding DC, and I might finish deathloop (I kind of lost interest when I got about half way through), I put Tales of arisen down for now while I finish the others first as I want to enjoy that in a massive binge fest where I only play that.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Lost Judgment?
I have it but I realised that I didn't even finish part 1 (which was the only Yakuza game I haven't finished), and after like a dragon I can't bring myself to play them anymore.
Going forward I don't think I'll ever buy a button masher combat Yakuza series game again and I'll only play the turn based ones from now on for me.
I was already over the whole series because of the fighting mechanic before, and unless they make something with combat as fun as god of war I much prefer the turn based combat over mashing the same combo out 20,000 times.
Re: Death Stranding Director's Cut: How to Transfer PS4 Save File to PS5
I just started again as I don't really care if there is a new game plus, I just wanted to experience the game again in about better quality. It doesn't look as good as the PC version which is annoying. I was hoping they would optimise it better for ps5. Ahh well, it's still very cool. I wish I hadn't played it and and could experience this version the first time on a ps5
Re: Deathloop (PS5) - Arkane Does It Again in Confident Shooter
ive realised that the only logical reason why gamespot and ign scored it so highly is that they are trying to reward games that are not cookie cutter games that take a risk so studios like Arkane (who deserve it) can get funding to make other games. but this game is just very average and only a 7 or 8 at best. its very shallow after the honey moon first few hours when the shine wears off and you are left with a world that only has 4 maps and hardly anything to do in them. no way you can give this game a 10 realistically, that is just crazy talk.
Re: NBA 2K22 (PS5) - Basketball Sim Is At Its Best on the Court
Re: Deathloop (PS5) - Arkane Does It Again in Confident Shooter
@andy24king . It runs very poorly already on ps5 so I think they just didn't have enough time, and it seems very rushed for Arkane, the maps are no where near as well designed as dishonoured 2 and Prey, to me it seems like a big rush job. Plus Sony wanted a system seller, so PS4 was not even in scope for them.
On a side note Not sure how anyone with some integrity could score it a 10.
Re: Deathloop (PS5) - Arkane Does It Again in Confident Shooter
HDR is broken, it's way to dark and they left out any calibration other than brightness. Seems like it was slighty rushed, it's pretty buggy for me as well, only 5 hours in and already had 3 lock ups and had to exit game to fix.
Apart from that I would probably give it a 7, it's very polished and stylised but doesn't have the substance of prey or dishonoured. There is too little to do in the maps and not enough of them. The time doesn't really change that much, 4 maps is 4 maps and they aren't that big either with hardly anything interactable.
Re: PS5 Guide: Ultimate PlayStation 5 Resource
@SJBUK cost is a seperate issue, for people who have enough money to pay for a more expensive ps5 it's annoying that it's already starting to get left behind by PC and even Xbox. I would have happly paid $200 more for a more cutting edge GPU in it to start with. I'm sure a lot of people would have as well going off the fact you still can't buy them as they are sold out.
Re: EA Confirms Battlefield 2042 Delay to November
@Fiendish-Beaver tbh their core audience is multiplayer gamers, they would see the stats of how much the single player gets used on the last 2 games and probably realised it's not worth the Dev costs for the minimal sales it brings.you can't really blame them for making a game that best suits their player base. I personally never touch the single player campaigns on these for more than a hour before jumping online just to learn the new physics and gameplay, and now you can use bots to practice so no need at all for me.
Re: EA Confirms Battlefield 2042 Delay to November
@OmegaStriver the last 2 bf games have ran fine on console on launch, I've had them both on launch and don't remember any issues except for small things like guns needing a nerf or etc. They had a few server side issues here and there but nothing major. I think it will be fine again this time.
Re: EA Confirms Battlefield 2042 Delay to November
It will be nice to play a shiny new bf for Xmas. Getting some 360 no scopes and giblets with the fam is the true spirit of the holiday season.
