The game runs like absolute garbage and uses frame gen in performance mode which means you have really bad latency, I'm going to wait until they patch it before I start it up again, at the moment it's very janky.
With roboquest and the other quality FPS rougelites out now this is just meh compared to them all. I ended up refunding after about a hour on steam as it's main gameplay loop is weak, the maps are way too small and repetitive.
Ps5 showing its GPU age, it wasn't powerful enough at launch we need a Pro version that isn't cut down third tier GPU at launch. It's equivalent to a 2070 in terms of what it can actually show on the screen in frame rates and quality. It's just too underpowered for 4k.
@Zuljaras just saw this a bit late, I thought the game was very mediocre imo, you just spam 2 skills or spells the whole game, there is no strategy to the battles. D3 was much better in gameplay. What did you think?
@KilloWertz the game barely runs at 4k at 60fps on a 3090 so I can see why the went for 30 on PS5. The new patch must limit resolution and other factors much more than already was in place to hit 60 on the potato that is a PS5 in 2023.
@Joabra01Swe people whinge when you say the PS5 is underpowered on here. But it really is even in 2021 it was already underpowered. We need a pro version. Even RTX 3090s struggle with modern games and the PS5 is a quarter of that in raw GPU powah.
@Bleachedsmiles what potential indeed is the correct question. We needed a pro version back on day 1. It's equivalent to a rtx 2070 and which is now 3 generations old. The ps5 can barley run modern games at 30fps and for 60fps they need to make major cuts to the graphics. With the way modern games are pushing global illumination and unreal engine 5 games coming out pushing even more detail than ever before we definitely need a pro version. You can always sell your ps5 and upgrade to the pro. We need a console that can run games in 4k at 60fps and the PS5 just can't do that even with dynamic resolution turning everything down or UE5 using its own version of fsr and other tricks the PS5 can't run games in a decent quality at anywhere near 4k.
@Cutmastavictory why preorder at all? It's not like it will sell out and even if physical copies do you can just download it if you can't get it, but even massive games god of war and Hogwarts and etc don't sell out why would this. Preorder is silly, what if all the reviews come out saying it's got massive technical issues and it's better to wait until they are fixed, or what if the game just sucks hard and you just paid full price for a sucky game that will be on used market in days for much cheaper? Just asking because I see this as a trend at the moment where people Haven't even seen gameplay in some instances and are already pre ordering games.
@Zuljaras why do you care if it has a online requirement for single player enough to make you want to miss out on a epic game. I understand it sucks, but problem is no one else is making top down action RPGs of this quality so we have no choice really. But to be so upset about it that you would miss out on the game there has to be strong reason?
@xDD90x they are not requiring that much more ram, they are recommending it, and the question is why. The game doesn't really use the direct access feature that much anyway, it would only mean for PC gamers that don't have the feature available is that when they teleport they would be in the white screen just before you materialise for longer which isn't that big of a thing.
If they were creating a virtual ram disk or access storage bin for this purpose you would need more than 32GB for it to work, I would bet that the recommendation for 32GB has nothing to do with that and more to do with the PC version having higher internal rendering resolutions, and all the shader effects being higher quality as well as higher quality geometry and lod, ssr, ssao and lighting maps, so what used to work on 16GB won't anymore as well now. And the next step up from 16GB is 32GB because PCs require dual channel memory so even if you had 8GB sticks you would need to have 32GB to make dual channel work. So they have to recommend 32GB.
Elden ring should be #1 it's not even close with anything else this year. Had some fun with gow2, and horizon as well but everything else I played on PS5 this year was a PS4 game already and been re released or was a old game.
Days gone was a awesome game on a PS4 pro, it ran fine and was one of my favourite games that year I played it (early 2020) i don't understand why people hate on it, it's a solid 8 or 9/10 game for when it was released.
@xDD90x the add on ssd in the ps5 is the same that PC's use. it's a driver feature for current graphics cards that wasn't available on PC until 2 months after ps5 launched, but since around Jan 2021 PC has had the same feature.
@Shstrick nah PC has resizable bar now and can do the same fast SSD loads. It's not about the speed of the drive more the API they use to pull data to the graphics card. It's more likely they recommend this much ram because there will be higher render resolutions in play and also potentially higher detailed assets or something. But it is very strange, even flight Sim only uses less than 20gb on ultra 4k settings.
I played most of part 4, 2 years ago and I'm still mass effected out from that, I couldn't bring myself to finish it because the combat was just way too shallow and the character progression just stops about halfway through the game, I remember playing all of these back in the day and I think I'll just leave them as a memory, compared to today's games these a trash even if they have upgraded the visuals and some mechanics. I have about 20 games sitting in my to play pile I'm not adding this, I don't get why people play games on nostalgia purposes maybe I'm broken somehow but it doesn nothing for me, I just notice how crap they are now by modern standards.
@Flaming_Kaiser I think in about 3 or 4 years when gaming engines start to integrate AI we will start to have a Renaissance with small teams being able to create very high quality games made in modern engines like UE5 and etc. Shortly after this happens these mega studios will be worthless because they won't even be able to make enough money to keep the lights on because of their enormous running costs.
Call of duty appeals to casual gamers that are teenage boys mostly, I'm sure they could make something appealing enough for that market if they wanted it's not like that audience are gaming connoisseurs.
@ShogunRok nice I'd rather play on controller on PS5, the controller support on PC is half assed and you still need to use keyboard for some actions apparently
Graphics are a bit of a let down for 2022, world textures and geometry details are a bit low, looks like a good PS4 pro game but at higher frame rate. Ps5 is really disappointing in terms of graphics power. And as Time goes on it gets worse and worse, at launch it was acceptable, now it's just shameful IMO
This game is disgusting in how heavily monetised it is just to play the main career it was already had last year and this year they have doubled it up, without spending real money your character is complete trash until you spend money or grind for at least 100 hours just to be competitive, and it's been calculated to get your player to max level you would need to grind for approximately 200 hours. They need to make the my player career mode free to play.
I've had the PS4 version for years but could never get past after you start finding survivors on the island a few hours in. The combat is just too shallow for me to keep playing, you can just spam any attack and win every battle there is no strategy or skill to it. Does it get harder as you progress, I'm about 6 hours in and it just seemed to be the same everywhere?
This is not for people that already played it on PS4, if you already played it then you shouldn't buy this, simple. Bagging it out because there is no upgrade path is valid though, especially at the price they charge but in the end you have a problem if you have already finished it on PS4 and then buying it again, it's the exact same game.
@Titntin I have tried to give myself a reason to buy a Xbox several times, but I have a high end PC and there is literally nothing I want to play that isn't either on PS5 or PC, so why bother with Xbox.
Queue the unplayable cockpit mode because the lighting is too dark, queue the massive game breaking bugs for the first month, queue the crappy frame rate and weird force feedback issues with the most popular wheels on the market.
The trophy system on PlayStation has just become worthless. 15 years of trophies have just been made useless in the space of a few months. Most of the time if a release was on multiple consoles and PC I would choose the PS version for 1. The controller and 2. the sense of progression and community, but now not so much..
The invisible walls and convenient fences left everywhere are in sequel as well. I don't know why reviewers love the gameplay so much. It's a hand held restrictive adventure game with outdated shallow combat that funnels you down narrow paths and slightly opens up now and then but even then is still restrictive. Sure story and graphics are great, but the game play is stuck in PS3 era and why is this good enough to get 10/10 in modern times then? Fanboism is not journalism.
This is on gamepass, I might try it on PC with modern hardware instead of the already aging GPU on the PS5 which is starting to annoy me how underpowered it is for modern games at 4k.like I have been saying from launch day, we need a pro version.
I would love to play this with my daughter, but the 3 save points will make it impossible. There is no way it will hold her attention for 2 hours at a time lol so the game wouldn't be able to be played.
You know you can reassign sprint in almost every game? If you can't figure out a control scheme that suits you on the current ps5 control you probably doing something wrong. That said more buttons is always better.
For me as a more hardcore racer, They need to fix the physics and make a more hardcore mode selectable if you want it as a player and have some serious E sports intergration , they are more than capable and have in the past with Toca, dirt rally and so on. I'm sure the guys at codemasters have some talented engineering guys on the team. Then pay some f1 drivers to say it's the most realistic F1 Sim out there, and then count the money.
Some more strategy would be nice instead of just grinding upgrades make players make decisions that actually mater over the course of several seasons.
@Falkirk4life To me it is as anything even remotely descent I have played or is now ancient. Not sure why you would keep paying for it as the new games aren't included. I actually got it when it first came out and use it for about 1 hour total and then unsubbed. So yeah from my view the list of games are trash in respect to having them in this service.
This is great news, they can focus on making the game and not have to worry about performance and engine issues. This should be a great game if they can just focus on finishing it and not talking about it every 5 seconds.
Good, I can't wait for codemasters to do WRC 2023, even if they just reskin dirt rally 2 and add some new tracks I would be happy. They realistically were never going to use dirt rally name anymore it's the whole point of the WRC licence. So for me this is Win win, chik din din this is still dirt rally 3 it's just got a new name... Chill
That list of games is complete trash, I'm not sure why anyone would pay for this for more than a month to play the one game in the list they like. At least on Xbox it's part of game pass, but even then I always ignore all the EA play games. The only game I can kind of understand is if they always had the most up to date FIFA or F1, but if that's all your playing then it's cheaper to just buy it. And they don't do it anyway, it's only the old versions. Only people that have unlimited disposable income would stay on this rubbish.
You think a games journalist would know the difference between refresh rate and frame rate, the game doesn't "hold a 60 fps refresh rate", the refresh rate is locked at 60hz as this can't change unless VRR is being used and ps5 doesn't support it, the game would alter the frame rate when it's got problems keeping it at 60. Not sure why someone that is writing for this site wouldn't know that...
I don't understand why even a games media outlet doesn't know the difference between refresh rate and frame rate?
This re-release makes me sick, everyone should boycott it on principal alone. Make a new game you lazy company, you have the resources to pump out a new game every 3 years but instead you take the easy way out and just do this, it's lazy and shows they have no artistic integrity at all. 10 years! Wtf
@FatalBubbles I have a beast of a PC and I decided to get it on PS5 instead, most games these days that are multiple platform run like crap on PC for the first month. I have learnt the hard way and unless I see a review where they say the PC version runs like butter I always get the PS5 version if possible. This is the price you pay with PC games these days, you either wait for confirmation of good patch level or you suffer on release day..
