It's interesting that none of the sequels mentioned have sold as well as the first games. You can partly explain Horizon Forbidden West's drop-off in sales by it being on PS+ Extra for a time, but the general pattern seems to be less enthusiasm from players.
None of them have sold badly, obviously but I'm sure Sony will have noticed.

Fairly obviously they don't want people to pick up a cheap second-hand disc copy and then be eligible for the cheap upgrade path. But how many people would actually do that? It doesn't seem worth it to exclude and upset a load of your loyal fans for the sake of a few 'lost' sales.

I finally picked up a PSVR2 in the sale now it's come down to a price I'm more comfortable with. I also picked up the PC adapter which opens up a whole load more games on PCVR, like Half-Life Alyx, Fallout 4 VR and all the UEVR games etc., which I think makes the PSVR2 have a huge amount of value for it's price point.

The best thing Bioware could do on N7 day is announce that Mass Effect 5 was being made by Larian Studios.

This was one of the games I bought together with my ps1 console. After playing the arcade machine in the student union bar I was blown away by the perfect conversion to a home console. It remains my favourite fighting game to this day. Not to mention all the alternative costumes and extra characters (and Tekken Ball!) which could be unlocked just by playing the game with zero microtransactions.
We honestly didn't know how good we had it.

They should change the name to 'Snickers'. That might help 🤔

Honestly, if I wasn't getting back into Helldivers 2 I'd be cancelling PS plus at this point.

£5.99 for Mass Effext Legendary edition is an absolute steal. If you've never played it, don't think twice.

I loved the PSVR. I bought a PS5 largely because I wanted the PSVR2
I have never bought a PSVR2 because nothing that released gave me a reason to spend the money for one.

Gave up waiting for a PS5 60fps patch and bought it on PC instead where I can play it at 120+fps at higher resolution. The fact they're going to sell this as a 'new' game rather than just release a patch to let it use the extra power from the PS5 is frankly disgusting.

Wow, so a TV adaptation of a game which was very divisive and sold less than its predecessor is.....very divisive and is watched by fewer people than the first series.

@xDD90x No, you're right. They're probably using the PC version as the basis for the remaster. I'm mostly struggling to find a rationale for not releasing it on PS5. I don't think that Microsoft would bother wasting money for an exclusivity deal on a game this old, especially when they're releasing their games on Playstation now anyway. So I would assume some technical reason, but it just seems strange.

A remaster of an Xbox 360 game is a whole different beast to a remaster of a PS3 game, which would have to be completely remade.
Hopefully that's the reason and it'll follow shortly after.

Imagine that. A great game with meaningful updates sold at a reasonable price with a fair monetization model and it's a success.

Peak video game voice acting is found in Resident 'Jill Sandwich' Evil and I won't be convinced otherwise.
If it can be done better, quicker and more cheaply with A.I. then why not?

This can't be it, can it? Surely Sony/Bungie have something else up their sleeve?

For me the RRP of games and the amount I will actually pay for them are completely unconnected.
They can try to charge £80 if they like, I'm no more likely to pay that than I pay £70 now.
I will continue to pay around £20 for fully patched and complete games 1 to 2 years after release. It's not like my backlog is getting any smaller in the meantime.
Once I've finished my current play-through of Dragon Age: Origins I'll be starting Death Stranding Directors Cut which I bought last week for £13 😁

Something that gets overlooked is that Joel and Ellie travel a long distance across America and there's basically no humanity left, just marauders, rapists and cannibals. (At least in the game, the TV series showed some more sympathetic survivors.) Based on Joel's experience you can understand why he might not consider humanity to be worth saving, especially not at the cost of his surrogate daughter.

Are they still doing that thing where they nerf the XP rewards from quests so you either have to grind pointless side quests or buy the XP booster from the store like they did with AC Oddyse?
Because they can do one if that's the case.

I could see this being useful if you just happened to be in the UK for a couple of months and wanted a PS5 for the period you were here, or if you just wanted to play one particular PS game and didn't want to purchase a PS5 just for that.
But these are pretty niche cases and in every other situation it seems less good value than just buying one on a credit card or instalment plan.
I'm not sure why they're bothering with this, honestly.

I got a copy if this free with my new PC otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I'll probably give it a few months after release so they can finish it before I give it a go.

I'm currently playing Days Gone for the first time on PS5 and it runs and plays really well, so I'm not convinced a 'remaster' that's just the same code with the graphics settings turned up is strictly necessary but I would have gone for it for £10. But I won't pay £50 so they can forget it.

I had a Playstation Mouse back in the day. I remember it worked really well with Quake 2. You held a controller in one hand and used the d-pad for movement and used the mouse to look/shoot.
It was also really good with stuff like Lemmings and Command and Conquer: Red Alert.
There are plenty of games that don't work all that well with a controller. More control options are always a good thing.

Anything tainted by Age of Smegma can do one, quite frankly.

They haven't done anything with it because it didn't sell that well (in Sony's terms.)
Sure it sold 7 1/2 million copies, which sounds good, but it took 7 years to do it so a lot of sales will have been at discounted prices.
The real question is why they've never bothered to release a patch to run at 60 fps on PS5. Modders have already done it, apparently all it takes is changing the values in a couple of tables and it runs just fine. You can see for yourself on YouTube.

No. HZD sold 24.3 million on playstation 4 and over 2 million on PC.
HFW sold just over 8 million. I don't know where you got 12 million from.
Lego Horizon sales aren't looking good and PSVR2 is a niche product so sales were always going to be low.
The direction of travel is clear to see.
I already mentioned that I loved the first game. I put 92 hours into it, including the DLC and I recently bought the PS5 upgrade as I want to play it again, so please keep the 'haters' comments to yourself. I simply have no interest in the sequels and, judging by sales, I am in the majority in that regard.

Meh, the vast majority of those 32 million sales were from the first game (which I loved).
The 2nd game sold a fraction of that and the PSVR2 and Lego games have sold barely anything.
Sony are flogging a dead horse with this one, I'm afraid.

It says 'gaming-related videos' which would include news, reviews and other discussions of video games topics on YouTube etc. So not just watching other people play games at all. And given that many people put videos on in the background while they're doing other things then this is completely unsurprising.

The Castlevania Requiem collection with Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood is currently on sale for £3.19. You owe it to yourself to give it a go at that price if you've never played it.

Hmm. The sequel to a much loved game from decades ago, made by a different studio? Ordinarily I would be pessimistic about it's chances not to be terrible.
But then Baldurs Gate 3 happened, so who knows?

@nomither6 Yeah, physical media isn't actually that great for game preservation. It was different for PS1 or PS2 games but imagine 20 years from now getting your PS4 out of the loft and putting the disk with the launch version of Cyberpunk 2077 on it in to play without any of the post release patches 😬

I'm glad they're fixing it, I'm looking forward to playing this in about a year's time when it's finished and cheap.
The first time you play a single player game is the first time you play it, I don't see any reason to pay more money to play an inferior version right now.

If I was a Fairgame$ developer I would be paying close attention to the whole Concord situation. And making changes while I still had the chance.

People keep saying they feel sorry for the developers but let's be honest. They have managed to get nearly a decade of full-time employment out of this project. That's a pretty good reward given the poor quality of the game they eventually produced. Firewalk deserve to get shut down, frankly.

This game is like the polar opposite of No Man's Sky, where the developers release a game which is almost universally loved at first and then release update after update which gradually erodes player goodwill over time.
