@sonicmeerkat Yes! The review section isn't a place for silly comments, that's what the community section is for. On Amazon, if you review a product saying "Silly Sony, I won't make a PSN account, eat me" — your review will be deleted as it's not constructive. It doesn't address the product nor does it reflect your experience and others can't make head or tails of how this product
Yes, performance issues are a problem but the comments we're referring to are not about performance. A review is a definite comment on the entire experience of a product. Any review that does not fall under this category is not a review. When something that is not a review is posted with the intent to be negative due to your emotions, you are review bombing. You're not being critical because the product is bad, you're being critical because you're emotional.
It's hard because people can't play. I played Elden Ring and it felt purposeless because the learning curve was huge. But once you get past that, the difficulty is no longer questionable, because now you're assessing what you're doing wrong in relation to what the boss is doing. These people play Elden Ring like it's Kingdom Hearts 3. You'll struggle with that, this is not a combo game, it's see and react game.
Unfortunately the game audience is more preoccupied with graphic fidelity and teraflops than what's truly important and that is a fun game worth playing.
I stopped playing certain games because they appeal to a broader audience that won't tolerate poor graphics or no open world, even though they're not necessary for the core game (it's a turn based game). Developers are fixated on things that are not important. Look at COD, why is COD 100GB? It's an online game, it's not open world, it doesn't have a lot of voice lines, there isn't many things to do? How come Elden Ring does have all of that and more and it's ⅓ of the size?
Gaming has become inefficient because the community has unrealistic standards and the developers have little time and the stakeholders have a disconnection of what's important. As long as these are a problem, nothing will change.
Looks really good imo. They just need to iron out a couple of things here and there. I'm hoping however, the missions are not all reduced to "go here, assassinate, run away". There should be some form of consequences
@dschons Right!? If all the problems in the world were reduced to a silly game being released in a competitive console, I'd say it'd be a pretty cool world to live in.
@UltimateOtaku91 The single player in Splatoon is more about shooter-platforming and challenges, not so much the story. Yeah, that's what I meant, offline PvE story with quirky dialogue and challenges.
@UltimateOtaku91 This is when you employ Nintendo Tactics; you unlock online by completing tutorial and chapter 1. They already made the characters quirky and corny, that's fine it's part of the charm. If they can't grab the consumer's attention to carry on playing Single Player, you were doomed to fail to begin with. Some developers include exclusive cosmetics, characters and so on in the story.
The only issue I see with Concord and it's the only one is no dedicated story mode. I don't think I've seen a Hero Shooter with one, that's what it needs to stand out. The competition is VERY stiff, going in with nothing unique is tantamount to cruising on a sinking ship.
It's not really false advertising, they could say it's 16K, it still would be alright. Graphic resolution and video resolution are not the same thing, contrary to popular belief and because playstation uses adaptive resolution, it'll always look as though it is the resolution of the monitor/ TV.
@CaptainRPG This is a lot of conjecture. You only need internet to link the first time, after it's linked you no longer need internet or login ever again to PSN. Even if you did, you should have a portable device with you that gives 5G connection Internet, no?
"When Sony eventually shuts down the authentication check" — huh? What authentication check? Why would Sony shut that down specifically? For your information, the "authentication" is saved locally on a bin file where the parameters are either True if you linked it, and False if you didn't. Not entirely sure where you got that information from, but I would recommend you to not spread misinformation.
So other than it's "inconvenient to do this once for 2 minutes", what other concerns are there?
@CaptainRPG you wrote a lot yet you have failed to make to point out why it's an issue for me to reconsider, other than "I feel like it's an issue". How do you know single players don't need it? Do you work for PlayStation; do you have inside knowledge of their requirements?
The whole "wah wah I don't want to link my steam to PSN" wasn't enough to see it? Something that takes 2 minutes and you only have to do it once, did not warrant the commotion.
Wuthering Waves' combat is more intuitive and more fun than Genshin, but the narrative, score, technical performance is better in Genshin. I think it's a matter of choosing what appeals to you more. WW is a bit rough rn, hopefully they fix it
@PrettyPawsome Just as you sent this, I read a comment that actually addressed the issue and it's from a perspective I didn't consider it. I understand what they're saying now, it's just so happens that the loudest voices are using their voices in the wrong way.
This is what it said: "The concern is more about representation, specifically how East Asian men are portrayed in Western media. There is a perception that East Asian men are often depicted in a way that undermines their masculinity. They are frequently shown as less masculine, more feminine, or as comic relief, rather than as strong, heroic, or powerful figures.
When a role that could showcase a strong, masculine East Asian character is given to a character of a different race (in this case, a black samurai), it can feel to some that another opportunity for positive masculine representation of East Asians is lost. This is seen as part of a broader pattern where East Asian men are not given the same opportunities to be seen as masculine heroes in Western media"
I totally understand this now, I didn't before. I'm sorry I'm not addressing your points directly, but I understand what you're saying also in contrast to this.
@PrettyPawsome Feel free to give me an example of a genuine and honest complaint that doesn't automatically go into "DEI" or "woke". I personally haven't seen any, I gave you the examples I have seen that are the loudest.
Because it is black and white, the moment you get involved you're sitting on one side or the other, neither are good or bad, we're just talking. I would love to debate this with someone who genuinely has a complaint but I haven't seen anyone who does. My only references are the ones I gave you.
@PrettyPawsome Because the "decent and reasonable" complaints are not congruent when challenged. Thus it is easy to see between the lines. Here's a small freebie:
"Yasuke was not a samurai", but many Japanese media has portrayed him as such. The argument is inconsistent.
"AC aims for historical accuracy", despite popular belief, this hasn't been the case in any of the games.
"Yasuke stands out too much, he can't do stealth", stealth in AC games has been heavily decreased in Valhalla.
"A black person killing Japanese people is problematic", just like blazing the streets of Yemen in CoD? Or running people over in GTA? NPC are there to be smacked, but when you do it in O' Sacred Land of Japan, then it's a problem?
"it should have been a Japanese male", I don't think feelings are a valid argument
I don't think you're racist, but you're very hard to play Feelings Police on a topic that shouldn't be that deep to begin with. You can feel however you wish, we don't have to consider your feelings. When your arguments fail to align with reason, you might have ulterior motives.
Disliking videos has as much importance as a snail winning a race against a crippled turtle.
The trailer has no gameplay, but the concept seems more fun than the previous 2 AC games. Mixing styles and different characters taking on different roles sounds fun. I'm putting a pin on it for sure.
I play with PC and Switch, if playstation releases cool games on PC, I'll play it. If Playstation asks me to sign in to PSN, I'll sign in. Unlike some, I'm consistent with my actions. I don't play favourites. The only thing I won't tolerate from PlayStation is making games need 32GB RAM minimum to run. That's a NO from me.
@Fiendish-Beaver They do need it, every online game needs to be signed in to an account so the developers can monitor with ease. This campaign will make things harder for the Devs, but their hardship ahead are no concern of mine.
Imagine in your neighborhood you sell walkie talkies to the kids, let's call it Walkie Network (WN) and it uses radio signals for every kid to use and communicate with each other. Each walkie has 2 signal knobs (one FM and the other for AM).
You have a central FM console so you can monitor the chatter and ensure no one is being naughty. Everyone uses FM, but some kids decided to turn off FM and enable AM only. Now you have a problem, your FM console has no idea what AM is and you cannot monitor through that console. You remember that your grandparents have an AM console, but you can't bring it over so every time you want to monitor the AM channel, you have to drive to your grandparents house (26 miles away from your FM console).
Terrible movement not making PSN linking requires from the very beginning. It's very disingenuous to sell a product in a country blacklisted and then revoke their access 3 months later.
It looks shiny, but unfortunately for me a game requires more than just pretty graphics. Maybe it gets more entertaining down the line, but as it stands now, it's just another action RPG with very little substance to the gameplay loop.
It took me a long time to understand the console market is a giant hoax and a plague on your wallet. The value of these consoles greatly reduces when each generation, they do the same as last gen, but worse. Due to the "evolving" industry, the performance of games are greatly diminishing, so you won't feel the difference on a technical level with consoles.
Save money and buy one system that can do it all. Exclusives sell consoles, sure, but they're collateral on your wallet.
It looks fun, but I'm not getting it now. I've seen everything that happens, so I'm curious how the gameplay goes on a technical level. I don't have a horse in the hate bandwagon, I'm quite neutral so I see things clearly for what they are.
@UltimateOtaku91 Understood. I was thinking more in lines of released on PC or released on mobile and then lately released on PS (i.e. Honkai Star Rail)
I hope security are big and beefed up dudes, ready to tackle and manhandle anyone who dares step on the stage uninvited. And they need to show it on camera so people know; this is what happens when you play silly games.
@Porco Porco, my lovely guy, Nintendo owns Pokémon alongside Game Freak and Creatures. The Pokémon Company is a joint venture between the 3. Nintendo doesn't publish under its name because they're not the sole owner of Pokémon. But it is an intellectual property owned by Nintendo.
Success is determined by the relative margin between cost to develop, market and maintain to the revenue it generated. There are no exact figures, but the cost for MKT to be developed and maintained should be somewhere between $1M - $3M/y and you're telling me their turnover is around $70M/y? How is that not a success? If you could invest $1 and make a return of $70, that's a win.
We lack context for the figures. But I wouldn't say it's only successful if it makes hundreds of millions. Can we agree on that?
Sony has to play their cards right, they have potential.
@Porco Huh? Fire Emblem Heroes, Mario Kart Tour, Pokémon Go to name a few are extremely successful. Hoyoverse is quite literally swimming in success with their titles and all are brand new IPs. This argument from you is more emotional than factual. It's okay if you feel that way, but it's just not a reflection of reality.
For a game that is certain to not receive any more updates, Animal Crossing is doing well. I wonder if Nintendo is interested in releasing Style Boutique on tue Switch, seeing Fashion Dreamer is also doing well.
