Mat does actually create annual reporting for the video game industry and read by a lot of us. It leads a lot of discussions surrounding the past, present and future. Some of his reports are more like novella, containing over 100 pages in a PDF.
So, whilst like many have stated on this subject an average of 426 times each, he isn’t the entire storyteller, but he is actually a trusted analyst of data that we in the industry value and trust to collate data from a wide range of sources.
That aside, still think physical games should have been announced to be ending at the end of the PS5’s natural lifecycle.
And I still think like Nintendo do, a same price physical are now, and cheaper digital model from the PSN store directly would have been a more beneficial way to introduce changes.
Anyway, that’s literally all I wish to say as the rest is just a physical vs digital debate and everyone has said all there is to say until Sony publicly say more.
It sucks, it’s annoying, our lives shall carry on regardless. Some people will leave PlayStation and doing so will not bring PS5/6 discs back.
Having said that, I’ll take a backseat and enjoy the commentary now.
Seeing as this is such a gear shift in the direction I ever thought the industry would go, I will gladly be picking this up! I'll happily support Microsoft seeing the revenue potential of another ecosystem moving forwards.
@species Very much worth it! Personally, not a patch on the feeling of Half-Life being played for the first time ... however, different vibe entirely, which oddly felt equal impact wise at the time originally.
The level design is very much based around the fact it's running (at the time of the original) on a console that has to obey the limitations of the platform. However, honestly it's really well done!
It's a classic game, that had the impact on the gaming community that Half-Life had on the PC community.
I just don't think the story got me in the feels like Half-Life as much, but the gameplay was a shift in parameters for how many Dev teams approached shooters on a console moving forwards.
@wildcat_kickz Yeah, the R&D is the real killer here. There's two reasons Cerny was so very happy to announce a "deeper" relationship with AMD.
Whilst yes, obviously it means priority over other manufacturers to some extent, working on the level AMD and Sony plan to helps AMD to combat NVIDIA in the PC space, but then also Sony gets to share some of the R&D costs, as it's a fortune and so much more than ever before.
The long term goal of AMD and Sony is amazing, but it's still so cost prohibitive to consumers I'm not sure how all of this will pan out to be honest.
With PS5, we didn't have hard drives fast enough (literally didn't exist in the consumer market) to be in the Dev Kit to replicate the speed of that which went in the PS5.
So we used a set of arrays and software to emulate it in a roundabout way (without getting super heavy on the tech side of things). It worked great, in the respect of we couldn't leak as much of a PS5 home goal of a feature, only speculate based on an approximation, and only one chipset manufacturer at the time even knew how it was all going to come together in the final product.
Now it's so expensive though, even a PC at my home to even work on engine is insane, it's like building a top of the line gaming rig essentially, and even then in some ways it can't do some things the PS6 does in the same way a PC at the time couldn't do what the PS5 did in exactly the same way.
So there even needs to be R&D into how that will then scale to the PS6. Because if I am expecting a draw call to be initiated for a texture file, relating to an asset, say a barrel, I need to know exactly what time it draws, and what it moves onto next. My PC can't replicate that at the moment, it can estimate it. So you even have software R&D whereby people are paid to literally figure out to the millionth of a second what is going to be happening inside a box that isn't sold yet, every second.
Everything is always about money in this industry of course, but the money that's been spent now is truly insane, I just hope it all pays off, as the result will be amazing ... I'm just not sure many can afford to see it.
@Max_the_German Oh I completely agree, I think the market for all consumer electronics is now in a state whereby I wouldn't want to be anywhere close to the industries decision makers on what launches next. I mean millions and billions worth of R&D has had to be adapted and changed and remodelled just for what has changed in the last few years. As in, you can't plan a system around say 32GB RAM, plucking a figure out of my backside, to then have it use 28GB of RAM instead.
We know of course we can amend that, but even some launch games rely on the very fact that they don't have to clean up RAM usage, as they have a bit of float available. So then when all these rumour mills swirl (think YouTube and Twitter/X) of Microsoft and Sony cutting various things (they're not really correct on the figures by the way), they're correct in how it will indeed impact everyone.
Forget Sony, what I'm on right now is a PS6 game by a third party, I am currently hired by said third party, but then I used to be hired at Sony, hence third party hired me to work with them to help with their project. However, I do plan to likely go back to Sony eventually, maybe, we shall see.
But even a RAM change impacts the third party massively, same for the handheld, it's sort of already a gimped project from the start, due to what it is, yet oddly capable too. So it's been a real headache.
Frankly, I remember a day when hardware excited me, and now all it does is annoy me, as to do anything really special requires the kinds of technology consumers just can't afford in a mass market environment given the economy globally blah blah.
With regards to modes and running, it is capable of a Boost Mode, and Standard, it runs PS5 games just fine, PS6 is a bit of a pain currently due to something about the PS6 not released yet, PS4 not many internally seem to care or talk about, but is easily achievable as many would already assume.
Anyway, Devs, power save! Yes, most Devs won't bother, as everyone I know is sort of fed up of a lot in the industry right now and the last thing they want to be told is to be on a platform that may not even sell 30 million they have to adapt their engines and code.
However, Sony has a workaround for games whereby Power Save isn't a thing, as in they expect most to not achieve in time, not wish to, or just generally not be capable. So, instead there's a brute force way to do it and workaround, think a universal code such as Proton layer for example.
What I find comical is Xbox/Microsoft also know a lot too, as do their Dev staff about the hardware, due to the very nature they also will want Halo to run well on the mobile platform too haha.
Anyway, lots to get excited for, just also from a consumer standpoint oddly lots to not be excited for in the sense it's going to be expensive.
@Max_the_German There’s two names for it internally, and it’ll run the PS5/6 software, but as obviously is assumed by even the most layman of layman’s, a gimped version of such.
Two names for it internally has always shown in my experience to indicate different SKU’s, or, and I’m guessing with this, two different test cases model wise that haven’t won out between each other yet.
The last test for it I saw with my own eyes was much like old iterations of Dualsense, where it’s almost like a jerry rig of parts and boards and so on. Think early Steam Deck test models.
And it didn’t even have a battery pack in it either at the time. (Likely due to needing to have all that bit figured out manufacturing wise), just a usb cable for power/Dev updates.
The most impressive part about it will be parity between being able to play PS4/5/6 games in a handheld format, without needing to play games catering just specifically to it.
Anyone who doesn’t find that very feature appealing (of course I’m sure there are many), will not find it remotely appealing. It’s a PS Portal that doesn’t need to stream (does also have Streaming features), so if that isn’t exciting to someone they’re best avoiding any excitement now, as that’s about as “wow” as it gets.
It’s a Steam Deck, but better, and like Steam Deck, can also stream.
My largest concern of all is price, as that’s something that’s never discussed internally of nearly any Sony products up to release/announcement. Well, to anyone who’s on the Dev side of things.
Much like that article of Alanah, it’s really easy to obtain information for her even now, as like me she will have friends actively in the workforce under NDA, but people act like that results in friends never talking at a pub, home and so on. People talk, they just don’t talk to the press and talk to people who know it they also talk they’re ruined career wise.
But yes, I don’t know why the public act like these leakers are so unique, literally make friends with anyone who’s worked for a Sony studio and just by one photo you’d learn more in many cases.
Like Dev Kits, there’s always speculation about that nonsense too, I remember under my old username helping people with PS5 stuff here. Proved I knew a whole lot more than leakers repeatedly, but that only came from base knowledge stuff at Sony internal.
The leakers get it wrong by befriending people in the supply chain, when as @wildcat_kickz knows, it’s far more beneficial to befriend someone who sees code/documents/calls/meetings/speaks to friends etc within it all everyday than a bloke in China selling a blurry photo of some test motherboard Sony sent them.
Honestly I’m excited for people to see it, but I’m not sure it’ll move the needle to many unless they already love what Switch and Portal offer in part.
@wildcat_kickz I’ll answer all the inside baseball questions you have when I’m on PSN with you haha. Saying too much here only results in people then jumping in and arguing only to be proven wrong upon release and meaning the entire argument was moot. You know, internet stuff! 😂
So, older game, let’s take Horizon as an example to match the article, but, its entire codebase and engine is geared towards producing a result 60 times a second that depends on the architecture of the PS5.
So the draw calls (when the CPU and GPU ask each other and RAM for packets of information), then need to be sent at the right time, in the right order and a result is expected to always match.
Like what is happening in say the Switch 2 world when it released, it uses sort of an emulation layer to render and run the code of the Switch 1 games, this meant Mario Maker (some levels created by the public), ran at different timings to what was expected (faster), so essentially the timings of features on the Mario level, or the triggered events all played out at an odd timing ratio.
With consoles, much like PS4 to 5, the issue becomes an engine is expecting to ask hardware for things, and then in return get things it expects back.
With PC it’s sort of similar but gets way too complicated to explain here.
So because the handheld is newer hardware that the engine of Horizon isn’t expecting, it will get results it doesn’t expect. This is as simple as patching the engine/code. However, even if everything is understood, so the language of the hardware and software, the hardware won’t react in the same way.
It means this handheld is powerful, but running with lower power delivery. Which creates unexpected results. So take a car, fast car, say a Corvette, you could get to the end of Route 66 in it really fast, slow, or somewhere in between. Now either way, you’ll get to the end, but ideally for tire wear, petrol consumption and so on you’ll want to get there without pushing it too much or too little constantly.
Now a much older Corvette could do the same trip, but its energy consumption getting there will likely be more (older engine and uses more oil, petrol etc). So you the driver (Dev) would need to make adjustments to how you drive (code).
The games won’t need scaling back due to it being weak as such, more a case of to get the same result you’d expect playing Horizon 60 times a second, there needs to be tweaks taking place to calm down what is being processed. Otherwise you burn through petrol/gas/diesel/hydrogen/electric etc.
Same when you load Horizon on a PC actually, the energy usage, result on screen and all manner of things is going to vary wildly and be all manner of different.
Think of the handheld as Xbox Series S to the PS6. Able to display much of the same, but at a lower everything due to having a screen where you’d have to freeze each frame to even notice in most parts.
I’ll explain more on PSN in a lot clearer way haha.
I’ve never enjoyed the previous films, so hopefully this will be the one that grabs me. As I love the world and stories of Resident Evil, just always wanted it to be more horror and less action with guns like Lara Croft somehow.
@wildcat_kickz So, to explain as quickly as possible without saying anything I’m not allowed (and people wouldn’t believe anyway so who cares, right?!)
It’s much newer generation of chipset regarding the APU, running at lower TDP than a static home console would.
So it’ll feature much newer technologies that relate to drawing polygons, rendering textures from RAM than PS5 does … and it’ll run at lower resolution than the expected PS5 output of today.
So much like how we see the Switch 2 perform, it’s that it’s using less energy, but on more efficient chipsets, that help it to sort of get close to visually what is on your PS5 at this moment.
It’s about bridging the gap, less so about actual horsepower as such, much like how an Apple M4 could do with much less power and cores what an Intel chip could do five or more years before it.
Think of the handheld as being capable to give you PS5 like graphics, but featuring the newer AMD code to allow for more to actually take place from a visual standpoint.
As in it’ll actually be “better” at tracing a light ray, but then due to power constraints would need to be pulled back due to the TDP.
Essentially, some of the things that make PS6 so juicy, will be also available to the handheld, but gimped to make sure it doesn’t cause your hand to set alight, the battery to get too hot during play, or the chipset itself.
So to look at, sort of PS5, but lower resolution, with some shiny bits.
Chooo choooo! This seems like a well worth it update on all fronts. Cherry Blossoms just have to be included for it to have the iconic look, so I’m glad they’ll be featured in droves too.
Our street used to be lined with cherry blossoms, then the pensioners voted with the local council to remove them all (46 of them lining each side of the street), due to the leaves getting on their cars and being slippery.
Growing up it was always one of the most unique things about the area for a British country lane, and now one of the best places for me to get that feeling again is to travel thousands of miles away.
Anyway, despite my reminiscing over some trees not relating to this game directly, always just nice to see them featured in anything!
I’ll be playing this, because just like CoD, it’s allowed to have multiple iterations that don’t completely change the game but add to it in different ways, and that’s absolutely fine to like!
I’m happy with everything UI wise as it is, hence it’s my preferred ecosystem as a whole. But any improvements suggested above I wouldn’t mind experimenting with.
However, for now I shall welcome the firmware update with open arms, knowing my PS5 is now more firm than ever.
I’m sure my Epson printer will find a way for there to be a physical version available to me in the UK.
I shall be perusing this at some point, though I’m in no rush to do so, and realistically I’ll likely read it a few years after completion of the game haha.
I’m assuming Logan is angry and it results in a barrage of button mashing and Spider-Man like QTE’s is all I need to know going into the game.
Provide me with a more chilled out lifesim of Logan, where in a sort of Shenmue style I have to get groceries home without my knuckle knives coming out and cutting the shopping bags, using motion controls, or maybe wiping my backside without getting angry, oh, or also helping to be a seamstress for Spider-Man, but I can only use my knuckle knives like I’m playing one of those silly motion cooking games.
That’s what I ultimately want, give me what the films don’t. Superheroes when they’re at their worst, failing, need to really struggle to work a job to pay their phone bill. Give me that lifesim and I’m all for it.
Not, middle aged bloke goes mental at some mental people for being mental and in turn is mental himself because everyone is against death unless it’s their inflicted death and everyone is against mutants being in pain unless it’s from causing pain to others.
Same with professor X. Give me him having to file reports about what curbs he can’t use, or how he needs to carry Wolverine in his lap as he cries from overcooking his microwave meal for one and needs to nip the chip shop.
@Flaming_Kaiser Whilst I agree many don’t seem to report great experiences here with PSN support, I’ve only ever had good experiences with Apple, Microsoft are truly dire, Sony have been okay here in the UK, Nintendo don’t even let me do the things I want with a digital license even compared to Sony, and their support has been okay again.
And for me I still prefer PSN over Xbox and Microsoft etc.
So I’d say I’m sort of shoulder shrug when it comes to them all customer support wise, I know they’ve all been okay, good and sometimes crap for me over the years.
@LogicStrikesAgain Now, that was funny! First you've heard? Doesn't surprise me to be fair, it's been lacking in additional write-ups from a lot of sources.
@Rich33 Yeah it’s not really a situation whereby I’d want to speak directly to people on currently as a business in Sony’s position.
To speak more now would reveal various things about their long term plans for the PS6 and the various other things they have going on.
Sony will no doubt be announcing that PS6 will support a disc attachment option soon, I’d say next 3-6 months max personally. As I know that’s what was discussed a year or so ago when I was bouncing around there.
However, again, say they come out today, and go, “You know what, disc attachment will be available, disc production ending still applies during end of PS5 and into PS6”.
Well what does that tell people that they don’t already know or assume? So far, Sony can come out and say, disc attachment available upon PS6 release and disc production ending 2028.
I just don’t know, until I have more information on their public facing polished plan I don’t really have anything to be mad about.
Oh and yes, everything is removable, nothing is forever. Batteries not included* haha.
@AdamNovice Honestly I’m not sure what narrative that is, it changes every day I log in. However, I must remember to frame some of them, honestly sometimes the comments have me in stitches.
I’m not personally impacted by their silence, but it wouldn’t have been the approach I took if I were them. However, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. The public will not stop until they know what Sony know though, so I guess it’s just this sort of debate for the next 12 or so months until more is released.
May the article engagement I'm providing forever be in Sammy’s favour.
@lacerz Look at you bringing out all the statistics, love that! Genuinely thought it would be more than the stated drop off for June, so overall seems better than I at least expected.
@rjejr @RoomWithaMoose Thank you so much for all of that! Much better than my tiny experience on NL so far haha.
I guess I’ll hunt you both down when I have more questions! I’ve only found out how to take it off auto brightness and change the charging to 80-90% today.
Wouldn’t think I work with software all day … 😂
Also, to comment on the article again, I’m also going to be buying the games on S2 that are at sales positions 7 and 8 on the chart.
Yeah I’m a bit unsure of Splatoon as I’m not too sure how it translates from other shooters/action games I’ve played, but figured worst case scenario something to look at on a shelf and admire from a distance.
My wife wants to do a lot of Co-op with me, so Luigi should be excellent, really looking forward to that!
I’m just a bit intimidated by it all to be honest, but super excited!
And to stay on the points raised in the article, the USA sales charts for this year so far surprise me with 007 being near the top, honestly didn’t think many would like it to the extent they have!
Then Lego Fatman I don’t know whether to get on Switch 2 or PS5, as I can use my portal, but then it’s native on Switch, but then also no trophies on Switch, which then means I actually have to play the game not a list of achievements. Hmm. Decisions!
@RoomWithaMoose Seriously, I was wanting to post on the Nintendo Life forums for help, as I literally know next to nothing. But they seem to be quite a tough crowd to crack from the exterior, I asked people if I needed previous experience with Splatoon, to enjoy the latest one coming out … nothing, no reply!
Anyway, list!
Mix of Switch and Switch 2 (but instead of listing assume all first party from Switch 2) stuff of course, sorry to anyone who sees my wall of text and gets angry, take a Prozac or something;

Really excited for Starfox and Donkey Kong on Switch 2 though, really excited! Haven’t played anything to do with either since N64!
I did just buy a Switch 2 and then plan on getting one for my partner, haven’t played anything Nintendo wise (other than around friends and family) since GameCube/early Wii days.
So to be fair if anyone has ducked out like we did and then now ducking back in, Nintendo will be on to a winner.
I’m currently in the process of buying all the physical Switch and Switch 2 exclusives that interest us, then once fully caught up I’ll feel more ready to tackle PS5 backlog again.
Who am I kidding, that backlog ain’t going down only up!
If I hadn’t bought a PS5 by now though, I would likely also be someone waiting to see where the console market goes next generation, as forgetting the physical element of the games for a moment, the price is going to hit hard to a lot.
The Steam Machine (V2) is a different value proposition, but similar power to a PS5 and around twice the price.
So I expect Microsoft and Sony to try all they can to keep the cost low through swallowing costs prior to RRP. But a low price may still likely mean a mighty high one for many.
Next generation will be fascinating, sales numbers for games in June not so much. Much like TV ratings during summer.
@DennisReynolds A lot of people must have you blocked, as I’ll state the same opinion and points as you and have a small man army coming after me like I’m some rabid dog they need to take out back to shoot.
Props to you for keeping things level headed and the points you make.
@SMJ Those are insane numbers for the embedded videos, I remember it feeling like a Lord of The Rings style marathon at times, but like you I don’t remember it being quite that excessive. I’m not even sure I’d sit through that length now.
Rose tinted glasses and all that I guess! Happy memories though!
What an amazing deal to sign for the Dev! Not something I’ve heard of happening all too often, and one many companies certainly don’t wish to usually speak about openly.
Good on them, exclusivity for a timed period makes no difference when I have a backlog unless it’s multiplayer and my friends or/and family are playing.
@SEVENTEENSOILS Microsoft forging ahead with anything in path tracing? Ha, yeah that’s going to be a while!
My brother in-law works for the MoD, never stops telling me I’m not doing something right or locking something down or using the right email address or how the entire world knows me or something. I told him I’m re-watching X-Files and that started a whole thing about facts about stuff haha.
You’d think he’s got a high up job there, I’m pretty sure he’s basically a secretary. 😂
And 7th character! Wow, that’s actually impressive, I made a bloke, he sort of looked like me and then I got to the bit with Johnny Gold Feet and then feel overwhelmed fast haha.
@wildcat_kickz I have to add people on my public facing PSN due to work, as I’m not allowed to have anyone on the work one due to testing code or Beta stuff, but I’ll get you added on my “normal” one soon enough!
Haha, Englishmen, been a long time since I’ve even heard that now, even my passport says bloody British in it!
Remember getting permanent residency in the US and I kid you not, the person who I had to speak to about the paperwork said “Oh, British! You sounded German to me!”
I nearly walked out of the country never-mind the room. 😂
@SEVENTEENSOILS Yeah do be careful! There could be information on there that leads to you finding out your father was a secret agent, leaving you a log cabin in the woods or something with amazing broadband. Never know!
Path tracing, now that is a beauty! I’ve never meshed with Cyberpunk myself, even though being a geek who loves sci-fi it should have clicked, but it’s embarrassing how many times I’ve jumped into it just to look at it running 😂
@wildcat_kickz Very good point on hyper capitalism. Reminds me of the Scooter song “Hyper Hyper!” Don’t know more of the lyrics as I don’t think that was a selling point of their music 😂
See you in the Battlefield! Wait, that’s the other franchise I like, see you in the field, that happens to have battles in it, that’s actually likely a virtual cramped street or something.
@Shirtpotatoes75 Bahaha! I do love the stuff myself, which will no doubt come as no surprise to anyone. Wow, Josh tackles salt in the comments and likes a salty and bitter condiment!
I shouldn’t word it like that actually, I’ve just given myself the “ick” as my daughter annoyingly says.
Reminds me of the time I told my sister on the phone I was enjoying a Five Guys and couldn’t keep the call going long, only for her to laugh about her time in Ibiza and we both got confused very quickly.
@SEVENTEENSOILS Sounding mental only puts you in the right place! Haha.
Not sure what cheesy things you’re on about, anyway, time for me to eat my oats, otherwise there’s no doubt my missus won’t be allowing me any cake later.
@Northern_munkey Ha, Warlock used to be my main on Destiny! Good times!
As for golf, you know what I’m alright at that, don’t know what all the clubs do, but I sort of hit it kind of in the right way. My problem with golf is that I genuinely can’t see the ball when it lands …
And that’s with glasses that Specsavers claim gives me almost 20/20.
So I have no doubt I’m likely a peasant in comparison to you in golf!
I’ll carry your sticks and the Peroni haha. Oh and I can shout “fourrrrrrrrrr”.
@Boucho11 I think it’s more the case some can find enjoyment and beauty in both simplicity and complexity, seeing the value in making time for both in one’s life.
Much like how some are capable and like writing comments that add to the discussion, where as others just prefer to show their preference for simplicity and to bring others down.
As if to bring others down, not realising they’ve already brought themselves down further than they could anyone else.
@LikelySatan Thanks for the psychological assessment based on a few online comments.
I’m in the defence of not judging people based on the games they choose to play.
All I can see is someone cowering behind a keyboard throwing shade at someone for just wanting people to enjoy what they enjoy.
You may think you’re one upping someone, but all you’re really doing is playing up to your username.
And as for being insecure, the only time I’ve actively felt insecure is when trying to kick a football in a straight line. Something I truly have never been able to grasp.
What about you, when have you felt most insecure, is it now knowing I’m laughing at how inferior you and your comments will be to me once I block you in a few seconds?
@RoomWithaMoose Couldn’t agree more. It’s why I get riled up by this fool and their money fallacy.
I’m lucky enough where thankfully at 40 I technically never have to work again, as I’m sure my accountant would happily confirm, I’ve been no fool when it comes to investments and financial matters of any kind for that matter.
It’s summed up by your comment really, the purchaser and consumer of a product decides and dictates over time the perceived and acceptable value to them. A company can put forward a value proposition, many can then disagree with that, but whether someone disagrees or agrees the price is right, does not make it so for anyone but themselves.
I just love gaming, and I don’t understand the distain people freely share for other people spending their time and money on a game they love.
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to have fun in Cyberpunk 2077, but my gosh do I appreciate and love the fact that people aren’t all like me.
Marmite and Vegemite are the best examples, cost a small fortune for what they are, entire marketing campaign in the UK regarding it being loved or hated, yet it has a market of consumers that adore it.
It doesn’t mean I see someone in the store with Marmite and think “my gosh they’re wasting their money! Why don’t they impress the chaps on Push Square and buy a fat free yoghurt instead!”
@oopsiezz I must admit, I agree with how people send a confused message.
They claim they want backwards compatibility, old games get brought to being available, and because they aren’t £2.50/$2.50 it’s somehow wrong.
Yet it’s fine to have remaster after remaster that adds nothing new to a story, but changes the artistry and style of a game, and people eat it up.
Yet it wouldn’t be a fool parting with their money if it’s Last of Us remastered that adds nothing new to the actual game itself. (Using as an example of course).
These add nothing, but they make games that are otherwise unavailable on a PS5 available, for less than they cost at retail by quite a bit, doesn’t seem anything but a good opportunity for those who missed out and want them.
@CheapMerc I completely understand, I just didn’t know of any store other than JB’s that sold games (only Aussie store I’ve been in where I noticed them), but yes, just was super out of the loop on what everything costs physically there.
Do hope you find you have options that work in your favour next gen, no matter where it is on the corporate side of the fence.
One thing is for sure, it impacts us all more than we may realise currently. I got told I was insane to hate Valve pushing for digital only in the PC market, now they’re working to create their own ecosystem and devices just as I said all those years ago.
Thanks for replying, appreciated! The more I learn about other markets I always love, especially when it’s a country I want to keep visiting.

You owe it to yourself to play it, you really do.
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
@Max_the_German Oh, it’s definitely not going to be called PS Handheld either. Nor is it called that internally. As you no doubt know.
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
Re: Sony's New Resident Evil Movie, Directed by Zach Cregger, Looks Superb in New Trailer
I’ve never enjoyed the previous films, so hopefully this will be the one that grabs me. As I love the world and stories of Resident Evil, just always wanted it to be more horror and less action with guns like Lara Croft somehow.
Anyway, hope it’s good and looking forward to it!
Re: Horizon PS5 Remaster Updated for Probable PS6 Handheld Support
Re: My Most Anticipated Train Sim World 6 Route Is Finally Almost Out on PS5
Re: New PS5 Firmware Update Is Available to Download Now, Here's What It Does
I’m happy with everything UI wise as it is, hence it’s my preferred ecosystem as a whole. But any improvements suggested above I wouldn’t mind experimenting with.
However, for now I shall welcome the firmware update with open arms, knowing my PS5 is now more firm than ever.
Re: Prime Yourself for Marvel's Wolverine on PS5 with This Prequel Comic
I want all of this please insomniac. Thank you.
Re: Sales Data Paints a Very Grim Picture for Physical PS5 Games in the USA, UK
@Flaming_Kaiser Whilst I agree many don’t seem to report great experiences here with PSN support, I’ve only ever had good experiences with Apple, Microsoft are truly dire, Sony have been okay here in the UK, Nintendo don’t even let me do the things I want with a digital license even compared to Sony, and their support has been okay again.
And for me I still prefer PSN over Xbox and Microsoft etc.
So I’d say I’m sort of shoulder shrug when it comes to them all customer support wise, I know they’ve all been okay, good and sometimes crap for me over the years.
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
@LogicStrikesAgain Now, that was funny! First you've heard? Doesn't surprise me to be fair, it's been lacking in additional write-ups from a lot of sources.
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
@AdamNovice Honestly I’m not sure what narrative that is, it changes every day I log in. However, I must remember to frame some of them, honestly sometimes the comments have me in stitches.
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
@RoomWithaMoose To be fair, you are the baddest of them all, even I can’t out do you on being pedantic and I’m known for that here already haha.
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
@AdamNovice Wait until he finds out Sony is going to charge £10 per trophy achieved, just to allow unlocking it!*
*Said for amusement purposes only. This is not a statement of intent on behalf of or endorsed by Sony Entertainment.
Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle
Re: MindsEye's Latest Attempt to Rekindle Interest Is to Become Rocket League
I genuinely wish them the very best, it looks like they’re trying everything, so I’m sure they’ll find something that sticks in good time.
I put forward MindsEye volleyball.
Re: US PS5 Sales Down Almost 20% Year-Over-Year, Rounds Out Tough Month for Industry
@lacerz Look at you bringing out all the statistics, love that! Genuinely thought it would be more than the stated drop off for June, so overall seems better than I at least expected.
Re: US PS5 Sales Down Almost 20% Year-Over-Year, Rounds Out Tough Month for Industry
Thanks again!
Re: US PS5 Sales Down Almost 20% Year-Over-Year, Rounds Out Tough Month for Industry
@rjejr Who doesn’t love DC Superheroes! Haha.
Hmm. Decisions!
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@SEVENTEENSOILS To be fair, the same about cleaning toilets can be said for the comments section on a lot of these threads at times.
The Truth Is Out There … turns out no one wants to read it. 😂
Re: US PS5 Sales Down Almost 20% Year-Over-Year, Rounds Out Tough Month for Industry
Mix of Switch and Switch 2 (but instead of listing assume all first party from Switch 2) stuff of course, sorry to anyone who sees my wall of text and gets angry, take a Prozac or something;
Really excited for Starfox and Donkey Kong on Switch 2 though, really excited! Haven’t played anything to do with either since N64!
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@Northern_munkey 1986 me, face as fresh as a daisy, and just as delicate! Like butter wouldn’t melt … unless on a crumpet!
Re: US PS5 Sales Down Almost 20% Year-Over-Year, Rounds Out Tough Month for Industry
Re: 'They May As Well Eliminate the Hardware Too': Japanese Dev Says Sony 'Doesn't Understand' the Feelings of Fans
@TheArt I can send you my physical copy of Godfall so you have at least something! Haha.
Remember when this was the discussion for discs under ideal conditions lasting 20 or so years …
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2025/03/disc-rot-already-afflicts-your-physical-game-collection
Re: 'They May As Well Eliminate the Hardware Too': Japanese Dev Says Sony 'Doesn't Understand' the Feelings of Fans
@DennisReynolds A lot of people must have you blocked, as I’ll state the same opinion and points as you and have a small man army coming after me like I’m some rabid dog they need to take out back to shoot.
Props to you for keeping things level headed and the points you make.
Re: Here's How Much Better Metal Gear Solid 4 Looks on PS5
@SMJ Those are insane numbers for the embedded videos, I remember it feeling like a Lord of The Rings style marathon at times, but like you I don’t remember it being quite that excessive. I’m not even sure I’d sit through that length now.
Rose tinted glasses and all that I guess! Happy memories though!
Re: Xbox Paid More Than It Cost to Make STALKER 2 to Keep It Off PS5 for a Year
What an amazing deal to sign for the Dev! Not something I’ve heard of happening all too often, and one many companies certainly don’t wish to usually speak about openly.
Good on them, exclusivity for a timed period makes no difference when I have a backlog unless it’s multiplayer and my friends or/and family are playing.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@wildcat_kickz I have to add people on my public facing PSN due to work, as I’m not allowed to have anyone on the work one due to testing code or Beta stuff, but I’ll get you added on my “normal” one soon enough!
Haha, Englishmen, been a long time since I’ve even heard that now, even my passport says bloody British in it!
Remember getting permanent residency in the US and I kid you not, the person who I had to speak to about the paperwork said “Oh, British! You sounded German to me!”
I nearly walked out of the country never-mind the room. 😂
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@wildcat_kickz Noted down! I’ll make sure to get you added over the coming weeks when I’m not all over the place travel wise!
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@wildcat_kickz 1917, that’s the BF based on @Northern_munkey birth year, damn good instalment that is!
Do we know if there’s many here that play FPS in MP? As I only know of you and Munkey that talk about even regularly playing MP FPS.
Just be nice to get a vibe back I used to have with Destiny, where that many of us on rotation always people to hang out with and jump on with.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@SEVENTEENSOILS Yeah do be careful! There could be information on there that leads to you finding out your father was a secret agent, leaving you a log cabin in the woods or something with amazing broadband. Never know!
Path tracing, now that is a beauty! I’ve never meshed with Cyberpunk myself, even though being a geek who loves sci-fi it should have clicked, but it’s embarrassing how many times I’ve jumped into it just to look at it running 😂
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@wildcat_kickz Very good point on hyper capitalism. Reminds me of the Scooter song “Hyper Hyper!” Don’t know more of the lyrics as I don’t think that was a selling point of their music 😂
See you in the Battlefield! Wait, that’s the other franchise I like, see you in the field, that happens to have battles in it, that’s actually likely a virtual cramped street or something.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@SEVENTEENSOILS Hahahaha! I’m just imagining you like a hipster Sherlock Holmes, coffee in one hand and red string and pins from Amazon in the other.
Meanwhile that PC of yours urging you to get on with your Steam library!
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@Shirtpotatoes75 Bahaha! I do love the stuff myself, which will no doubt come as no surprise to anyone. Wow, Josh tackles salt in the comments and likes a salty and bitter condiment!
I shouldn’t word it like that actually, I’ve just given myself the “ick” as my daughter annoyingly says.
Reminds me of the time I told my sister on the phone I was enjoying a Five Guys and couldn’t keep the call going long, only for her to laugh about her time in Ibiza and we both got confused very quickly.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@SEVENTEENSOILS Sounding mental only puts you in the right place! Haha.
Not sure what cheesy things you’re on about, anyway, time for me to eat my oats, otherwise there’s no doubt my missus won’t be allowing me any cake later.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@Mr-Cage Haha, thank you!
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@Northern_munkey Ha, Warlock used to be my main on Destiny! Good times!
As for golf, you know what I’m alright at that, don’t know what all the clubs do, but I sort of hit it kind of in the right way. My problem with golf is that I genuinely can’t see the ball when it lands …
And that’s with glasses that Specsavers claim gives me almost 20/20.
So I have no doubt I’m likely a peasant in comparison to you in golf!
I’ll carry your sticks and the Peroni haha. Oh and I can shout “fourrrrrrrrrr”.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@Boucho11 I think it’s more the case some can find enjoyment and beauty in both simplicity and complexity, seeing the value in making time for both in one’s life.
Much like how some are capable and like writing comments that add to the discussion, where as others just prefer to show their preference for simplicity and to bring others down.
As if to bring others down, not realising they’ve already brought themselves down further than they could anyone else.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
Just live and let live.
Re: Black Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
Re: Sales Data Paints a Very Grim Picture for Physical PS5 Games in the USA, UK
Re: Sales Data Paints a Very Grim Picture for Physical PS5 Games in the USA, UK
@CheapMerc 130 AUD converts to 68 GBP, so here in the UK it’s £70 usually, more expensive than you currently would pay.
However, we can use ShopTo, Loaded and many more, have Australians not got access to anything like that?
As at JB HiFi it’s 129 Aus, which again is cheaper than it is for us before you get a discount.
I’m just asking as I know nothing about the Australian gaming market you see.
Re: Blacks Ops Fans Sure Showed Up for PS5's Overpriced Call of Duty Ports
@somnambulance Also good to remember, people who buy CoD also know how to buy other games too! Like how I bought Prag and Req too!
