A big new update has arrived for MindsEye, the infamous PS5 action game that had a disastrous launch and is still trying to claw things back.
Update 8's main attraction is Grenade Football, marking the debut of cross-platform multiplayer in the game.
Grenade Football is a colourful, arcadey spin on soccer in which two teams of 5 launch and catch the ball instead of kicking it. Obviously a football mode makes sense in the wake of the World Cup, but it also brings to mind the chaotic fun of Rocket League.

Alongside this new mode, the update throws in a new Time Trial mission to master.
Notably, the update brings MindsEye's user-generated ARCADIA content to consoles, injecting the game with all sorts of new challenges and missions made by players.
It seems like a pretty meaningful upgrade to the game, then, but I have a feeling players that bounced back at launch won't be in a rush to come back. Then again, the reviews featured in the above trailer are impossible to deny, so who knows?

Looks awful tbh
Mind’sEye reminds me in a way of one of those failed toy brands in the 1980’s or 1990’s, the ones that tried to become the next TMNT or He-Man or what have you but just didn’t capture the interest of practically anyone.

But seriously, I enjoyed MindsEye for what it was and had a great time. Don’t think it was the right vehicle for this creation platform stuff, but I’m down for a deepened single player experience!

Gotta appreciate when a dev commits to fixing a disappointed game rather than cutting losses and moving on. Even though i understand many lay-offs happened.

They just need to stick this game on PS+ and move on, cos aint nobody interested in buying this that hasn't already.
I like a good old fashioned redemption arc, but I'm not sure if BaRB deserves one. From all the stories we've read, leadership there is rotten to the core.
Lol GTAO has football, NFL, musical chairs, all kinds of crazy modes using cars. And people wonder why it's still selling.
Wont be playing this Grenade Football but makes me think of Speedball which has a version PS5 now. Must get that, even if only for a bit of nostalgia for playing Speedball on the Amiga some time back
Mindseye is £12 from Cex, when it's about £6 I might buy it lol.

If anyone doesn't play and enjoy this, it's a result of an intricate web of sabotage to undermine the true quality of Minds Eye Grenade Football.
This is one where I can't help but wonder why the studio doesn't just move on at this point. They could put these ideas toward a new game instead of bolting them onto one that's all but dead. I still wish them luck though, especially after all the insane nonsense brought on by their studio's "leadership".
Stop trying to make Mindseye happen. It’s not gonna happen.
This game is such a mess, it’s just laughable at this point.
