Sony has released a new trailer for its upcoming Resident Evil movie, directed by Zach Cregger of Weapons and Barbarian fame.
This clip is a little longer than the previous one, showing Austin Abrams as courier Bryan sent on an assignment to Raccoon City General Hospital.
While it still doesn’t scream Capcom’s game franchise, there are a few more nods to the series in this trailer, like the iconic typewriter and shotgun ammo box.
Cregger has always said he wanted to tell a different story to the one in the games, and so this sits on the periphery of any existing plots. As a horror flick, though, it’s looking like a superb time.
I expect this film will be pretty big, as it’s got brand recognition and a star director behind it. Even more importantly, Cregger genuinely seems to be a fan of the games.
