As long as the trans actions don't spam us to death, and the add-ons are things like skins, and maps vs. skill enhancements, it's fine. Not likely though, they want to make it hard not to spend money. If everybody else is outranking you because they spent a couple of bucks for a mod, it takes the fun out of it.
Sure they'll both have great looking graphics. Maybe the difference is in performance, frame-rate, multitasking, and how much is going on at once in-game and system, vs. graphics alone.
Stay focused on giving us the best possible, and most diverse gaming experiences, and they should do fine. However, I do think they need a killer shooter to go head-to-head with Titan Fall (provided it doesn't remain exclusive). I could be wrong, but don't think KZ4 will be the must have shooter if they want to grab that online shooter audience. If they want to gain market share they'll def need something like that. Not that I want a bunch them on PSN though.
That firmware update should come sooner than later. There's just no reason it can't automatically turn on only when a game needs it for added play features.
Unannounced, unique indy games. More details/gameplay footage of Deep Down, The Last Guardian, The Order, and Transistor. Something really slick about what they're using Gaikai company and tech for. Blow our minds with Shadow of the Colossus 2.
There's a lot more politics, sign-offs, and legal crap involved with setting a final price for something that could earn a major company, millions. So I don't believe they could throw out a price, on the fly like that.
Pretty much my thoughts also. The series would have to have a recharge of some kind to work... which will be hard without it being a prequel, side story, or a twenty-something Drake. The series needs a break at the least. Naughty Dog could figure something out though if Sony insist on another UC.
Well I guess if it were a piece of art it would be the same principle. I just have a very hard time seeing how a map that is seen by anyone, and meant for the public to use would require permission. I must be missing something.
Would be nice if they had a few options like with camera, or extra controller, or game, and each bundle could include PS+ sub. Either way, they should keep pricing at $460 or less. Otherwise people will see it as the same price as a xbox (even though it's a better value).
If they ever so much as play one of his songs at the ending credits of a Naughty Dog game, I swear I'm gong to strangle somebody...
On a serious note though, he may actually be a playable character in some future 2K basketball game. Just google "justin bieber in video game" and you'll see articles. That still has me baffled.
...and to dot the "i", PS4 is still $100 less. MS has money to burn, and could drop the price by the same amount, but I doubt it will be too soon. I could be wrong, but after this recent 180 turn on their policies, they probably won't. They can only swallow their pride so much.
Very true. MS has an army of sly, savvy, (some say sneaky) business men. They are masters of deception and persuasion. I don't believe for a second that they haven't already planned their next move to counter. Sony just needs to stick to their promise about used games, deliver great titles in all verities, and stay competitive price-wise.
I respect his experience, but there are some holes in what he's claiming.
Sony's using the used game/non-manditory connection as part competitive advantage, and part common sense. A global company does not build a internet all-the-time only machine.
From interviews I've seen, used games help the gaming industry, by helping people put that money towards new games.
He doesn't know what Sonys doing behind closed doors, what deals they may be negotiating, or how they are shifting their budgets around and cutting back to compensate certain losses.
Not every game will be a zillion dollars to make, and take thousands of workers. My guess is that less than half PS4 "big budget games" will be first party.
There are ways to make it work. He makes it sound impossible and devious.
FF first because of how different the game play looked form any other, and that it was even announced. The first one I want to play after being disappointed by FF13.
The Order is second for me because it's new, and looks to have some serious cool game play potential. It's also built for the PS4. We all know what happens when Sony invests in first party exclusives.
Too bad they decided to put it on the shelf. I'm curious about what really happened here. Doubt it was a hardware issue because the PS3 and PS4 are plenty powerful. Is it a stock holder thing? Conflict between what the creator wants, and what Sony wants?
First look reminded me of the PS2, but updated. Looks pretty good. At least is sleek, and not a mammoth. The box in the end is not a big deal, as long as it's not an eye soar taking up too much space.
Sony is a global sensitive company though, so they know internet is not so accessible in many places. Can't see them cutting of millions of potential gamers. Besides, their goals seem to be different than MS.
I buy roughly 50% pre-owned games, 40% big discount (but new), and 10% latest titles/full price. So def keeping the PS3, and will have to determine what the consequences would mean for how I buy and play with the PS4. Won't know until I hear all the details.
Come-on Capcom. It's like they strut up to the edge of the diving board, then slowly lower themselves gently into the pool. So many good ideas with this new IP... Maybe I'll be surprised and like it more after playing it. Hopefully they nail it on the next version for the PS4.
It's not critical to the PS4 functionality like the kinect is to xbox, so it shouldn't be included. Lower launch price is way more important. Plus after the low success of the PS move and PS eye 2, they have to prove it's worth buying/using with "killer" games designed specifically for it. None of those tacked-on controls for games that work much better with a dual shock, but real immersive experiences. Then people would spend the extra cash as an add-on.
Sounds like a steal for such a advanced piece of brand new tech, but... if MS is going to sell Xbox at under $200 (my guess) subsidized, then Sony has to do something drastic with the price.
No offense, but at the fourth installment, they need new writers. The core of the story and KZ universe is really interesting. They just need a talented writer/story teller, to really pull people inn. It's already a good shooter.
@charlesnarles I'd say so. Worth playing, especially if you plan to get the new one. Be warned, it's not a twitchy shooter like COD. You can adjust the sensitivity, but the guns feel weighty (which is what they were aiming for), and the cover system is pretty good once you get the hang of it.
I'd say yes, they are doing the right thing. Multimedia is there, the machine is absolutely capable, and there's other TV network companies Sony can make deals with down the road. Priorities first.
I can see both sides of the coin, but it all depends on how Sony handles it. Basically, they need to make sensible rules around the whole process, respecting both gamers and publishers. We're not obligated to get anything for free that someone worked hard to make... nor do we buy it with our hard earned money deserve to pay twice, with restrictions.
Charge a "small" fee if you must, to unlock the used game so publishers get something, where they are getting nothing now, and gamers don't feel like we're being way over charged and controlled. Would help if that unlock fee was built into what you pay, when you buy the game at the register. One payment, for game and full unlock, flat fee, no hidden fees crap, you own it... and they have to explain in clear detail what it is, and how it will work at E3.
Didn't feel the demo was enjoyable enough to spend money on the full game. Felt the same way about RE6. Not sure what they are going for with the series.
@Paranoimia Same here, although there is a difference with first party games that were built specifically to maximize the hardware of the PS3. Yet at the same time, you'll never see Uncharted on a 360 to compare anyway, so yea.
Good lord... that detail. Look at the knitting on his cap, and all the particles and lighting effects. You can even see the slight imperfections on his face. Skin looks like skin, not plastic. Pretty cool.
Great news. A lot of people really liked the PC version for the story and main character. She seems to be a sweet, curious girl trying find her place in life, then discovers her special ability. Let the adventure being!
Looks very positive for Sony, but is too early to hold too much weight though. Run the poll again after E3 games, and details are all out on the table. I can still see Sony on top though. The Xbox mandatory kinect/24hr check-in/used game fee crap has taken them off of many peoples wish list.
I see serious privacy issues with the kinect being mandatory to even run the box, and "always on" listening for you to say "xbox on". Saying xbox this and that is weird enough, and making random gestures on top of it.
And 15 exclusives... we'll see. Maybe for the life of the console. Wouldn't be surprised if more than half will be shooters and sports, with the rest new versions of existing games. And the vents on that thing, geez! How bad is the heat that you need to go to such extremes...
This may be the perfect balance of GT realism, and fun-to-play races and social features for the community. I enjoy GT, but at times feel like something is making the experience less that what it could be.
They spend way too much time pushing promos, sales and rentals in our faces vs. making things simple and easy to find. They also have too many categories, and things hidden in sub-categories. The navigation is clumsy, highlighting key items is unintuitive... the list goes on. Yes Sony, please, overhaul the store for PS4, and take a note from companies that make the best user-friendly interfaces.

Not sure how well it will sell on Vita. The PS3 version was decent, but I wouldn't buy a vita version. Thats just me though.

Fan-service skin for pre-orders Square? No, you guys need a sizable demo that's fun to win people back after the last couple of FF games.

5/10 makes sense after playing the demo. Was not interested after playing. They should have stuck with the original direction and look of Overstrike.
