I'm juggling content with 8gb, and like many others refuse to pay that outrageous price for 16 and 32gb... and I'm not cheap when it comes to electronics. I just don't pay insane amounts of money for anything that's clearly not worth the price.
price is still too high for a dedicated portable handheld
proprietary memory cards are waaay to expensive
needs more exclusive games, less focus on cross play/buy, retro and PSP carry-overs
Sony doesn't even have faith in their own device, and almost ready to throw in the towel. Devs can see it, share holders see it, gamers see it and think twice before buying one.
Smart move for E3. When talking to gamers at a game centric event, speak about the games. There's always opportunity to target non-core gamers with multimedia features. Just show it to them during their day time shows, or where ever they are likely to see it, and then show off the media stuff (to them).
It has it's benefits, but at the time, I don't think they should make it into some grand selling point. It's not working. They still need exclusives to push vita sells, and cross play should "never" require purchasing the same game twice. Different studio or not, they need to work that out on the back end.
I'm very interested in how the different scenarios will play out. On the other hand, I'm concerned about cheesy dialog, (possibly) clunky combat, and not being able to turn off that "jump here, push this" thing they showed earlier. Will have to see how it plays out. Regardless I'll likely pick it up because the story and setting are what makes it so interesting. It's something different to experience.
Well MS will do what they've always done. Use their money to get exclusive or limited content, them spin the marketing for it as if it's the greatest thing in existence... only available on their system. Never mind making diverse, quality first party games. They have their audience, and they aren't worried about grabbing the more open-minded, adult gamers that are looking for more than a FPS experience.
Not buying until price comes way down, or they make it separate dlc. Bought the original. That's like paying $100.... uh no. See you some time next year.
Hopefully they won't charge, but if they do it should be a very small amount... and optional. I understand companies spend money to build and maintain certain features, but they all, always over due it when pricing the customers. Keep it sensible, seriously, shouldn't be more that a few dollars a month.
Whats nice is they get better with every game they make. I remember being really surprised in a good way when I first played Indigo Prophecy. You can see effluence of Heavy Rain in that game too.
Possibly too soon after GOF 3, launch time frame with other big titles, and too much focus on multi-player when promoting it. GOF is primarily a story-driven, single player francise. Not saying multi-player is good or bad, just wasn't interested in it.
Maybe after showing the actual console they'll announce launch window and price. I think their holding their next announcement until after the MS event. Can't be later than November though. People need time to same money.
Really hoping Sony learned their lesson. There may be some pride there still, or share holders that push them launch in Japan first. Understandable since it's their home territory, but it's not so B&W. Could be a simultaneous launch including NA, or a very short window after launching in Japan first. Either way, they at least know from experience, that it's not a good idea, if they want any chance to compete with MS. A good sign is that they already started showing they are willing to change the recipe by jumping ahead with first announcement. Just please, make it somewhat reasonable in price or it's all for nothing.
MS has been quiet for a good two years without any real exclusive titles. I'll bet those resources were for new IPs, for the new system. I don't like their business practices, or top leaders, but they have a way of knowing how to market. It may be shady, but in the end they still sell a lot more than Sony.
Trying too hard to push some sales or what... That's way over the top, and is unnecessary to take it that far. The game already looks fun, and the last one on PS2 from these guys was great. What are they trying to prove?
Show the new controller, talk about network features... build buzz
Focus on "we love indy and devs", we made it much easier for you... build buzz
Console reveal with final killer specs, sick sleek design, and probably more tech demos. Release HD console photos on web... built buzz
E3, reveal a ridiculous list of AAA, first party, and indy titles. Announce shocking, reasonable price and bundles... build buzz and pre-orders like crazy
All that tech the PS3 has, and they couldn't even figure out a simple walk mechanic for Heavy Rain. There's this realism, and interesting story, then you try to walk across the room and it's like your a confused android. Gameplay more important than poly-count Cage, remember that. I'm hoping they actually deliver. I want to be amazed.
I can totally see MS requiring online access as their answer to stop any type of piracy, and used game purchases. All while monitoring "ever single action you take on your xbox", then target advertise to you in and out of game... charging mandatory monthly fees to play games and use basic features. I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped way ahead and made a disc-less system. That would explain a lot of silence at least.
He could very well be testing the waters on purpose, to see what the response would be, allowing them to add a disc drive version or add-on at launch. After all MS does not like hardware. They are a software company, and don't want to deal with cost of owning their own disc format like Sony. They won't pay Sony for use of blu-ray, and DVD is long outdated, so yea...
Well it sounds good, but I can't see it happening because of the price. Even with a cut on vita, it may look too steep for many people all at once. Plus Sony would loose a massive amount more then they are already with vita.
I can see a voucher for something like $50 off a vita, Year subscription to PS Plus. That way they get the $50 back, and actually boost sells of the vita.
If it's true, it's a very good move by Sony to help sell consoles. Personally after being disappointed with FF13, and done with the mellow drama, I'll have to see more game play to decide.
No, because I'm keeping my PS3 since they won't work on the PS4. I really only want one piece of hardware for my home gaming, but until they have a free or reasonably priced method for people to copy over their already purchased library, PS3 stays.
Rush the games out, overcharge for dlc, hit us with micro-trans at every turn. Yea, you won't be missed. Problem is, I think Peter Mole... uh, Money... uh, excuse me... Moore will be even worse.
Demo was so-so. It could actually be worth playing, but you have to really like the challenge of solving detailed puzzles. Trine handles this type of game-play much better in my opinion.
Well on that note, even a PC is outdated by the time they hit the store, or soon after. Technology just moves too fast. Still, those are just specs for the most part. What he's saying is basically null.
Does the PS4 produce sick, smooth running graphics, CHECK
Is it a power house for it's generation, CHECK
Does it give devs insane flexibility to create whatever they want, CHECK
Will there be kick-ars, fun, unique indy and AAA titles, DOUBLE-CHECK
Thats whats important, not comparing it to a PC. That's why it's called a console.
Might be too much faith in Skype and the tuner. Skype isn't special any more, and almost the norm on many devices including Vita, smart phones, tablets, etc. T.V. tuner, well... don't see the appeal for someone wanting to play games vs. watching sitcoms. There's cable, Hulu, Netflix, and plenty more for that, which are already live on both current consoles so... no sell.
MS could sell more with subsidized pricing, bundled with network subscriptions or something, and their usual marketing tactics "better with Kinect-Ultra, $5 basic cable for 3 months, on 3 year contract". Not to say it wont actually be a nice system, but they'll find a way to charge for every little thing and service.
Could make for some interesting single player, as long as it's optional. The way things are going though, it's likely just a sneaky way to get people locked into buying new, or to get us to buy online pass for the full experience.
What's the appeal of Minecraft? I've never played it, but have watched plenty of YouTube vids of it. Not bashing, but genuinely curious what do people love about it so much?
So you'll download have a few movies, and your HD is full. No thanks. I'll simply buy the blu-ray disc for the few movies worth owning, and stream the rest.
It's EA guys. It's all in the interest of making the maximum amount of money (cough, Dead Space in-game micro transactions, cough). I'd bet money they have some exclusive "something" with MS... even if it's just DLC, or timed. However, MS knows it has to come out swinging, and they like to dangle things... I mean... their money in front of people to get their way, so yea... somethings up.
Good news. Now bring price drop to the rest of the world, and bring on the games. Done! Vita sales move to one of the top three spots for 3-4 months straight.
Something should be different for the final launch version. I could see the navigation being very similar though. I'm seriously hoping they have a more clean, intuitive navigation that is unique, and not just a bunch of tiles.
Does seem strange to put GT6 on PS3 with PS4 right around the corner. Then again, the PS3 with a price drop could become Sonys bread & butter. So more AAA's for current systems makes sense.
Tourist Trophy. There are no motorcycle emulators on console that I've seen. MotoGP series doesn't fit the bill. Funky controls, bad AI, no variety with tracks, only race bikes...
C'mon Sony... Do you guys want to push Vita sales or not? Yes your still loosing money on them, but the goal is to get them off the shelves and make money on software and accessories right. $200 USD, w/1 year PS Plus subscription... make it happen.
I can see a new GT along with a bunch of other AAA's on PS3. It should help continue selling systems even though people know the PS4 is coming. For a nice price drop and some tempting bundles, it should help with sales. Look at how long they were making PS2 titles after the PS3 launch.
Teasers are nice if done right. Builds good amount of interest and leaves them something for E3, or whatever event MS will reveal their new system. That along with a couple of unannounced IPs, and a really slick new UI would be an absolute bomb move by Sony.
Sounds good so long as they don't buy back at 10% of what you paid for them. Very possible. Better than nothing, but that would sting. For now, I'll be keeping my PS3.
Because of the investment people put into their game collection. $40-60 a pop, adds-up quickly. Plus it's normal to replay older games you own just because you enjoy them.
This is exactly the jerk-like mentality I can't stand about MS. This is the attitude time and time again. Tell lies, mislead consumers, talk trash... Sony is focused on improving their system and features for a better gaming experience. MS should try making more reliable hardware for a change.
Yep, I'm constantly deleting and reinstalling games because I'm out of space. Waiting for memory card price to go down some. Could be a while, but can't bring myself to spend sooo much more, compared to the same size in SD format.

Several unannounced new IPs from their internal studios, and third party studio exclusives.
