So glad Sony listened to complaints form the PS3. This is like a home run... easy on the devs, heavy on the power, social networking/sharing/chatting, integrated touch and motion, dual screen capability, promising first party and new IP line-up. Yep, start saving money now!
Think of a teraflop as a "huge" swarm of sparrows darting around the sky in sync, vs. a flock geese flying south. Basically a lot more data being processed at once, so everything runs faster, smoother, and can handle more task.
Understandable doubt, but they didn't setup/build the PS3 for that, nor did they have the Gaikai team, their expertise and programers. Now they do, so it's a good chance it will be a much better library for PS 1, 2 and 3 this time.
Agreed they pretty much have to have "something" that does motion. I think they added it to the controller so that each system sold will have it bundled in, vs risking people not buying a separate controller. Your more likely to try and even buy motion games if there's no effort or extra cost involved.
How are you suppose to hold it for motion control though? Seems a little weird holding with one hand, or two for the movements.
Kinda funny, but not a big fan of companies advertising like the politicians do. At the same time, MS was be at it for the life of the 360, so it's only fair, and Sony does need to be more aggressive with their marketing. Thumbs up for building hype.
Would be great if we could play PS 1, 2 and 3 games on the PS4 with Gaikai. Just be ready, it will probably be rolled into PS Plus subscription as a added feature. You know it's coming. A bunch of free games, streaming music and movies, and improved multi-player enhancements will be well worth it.
The MEID Portal - (Miraculous Entertainment Infused Discombobulator)
Seriously though, I think it will be something based on connectivity, or entertainment, since that's what they'll be pushing this cycle. Which could be anything weird. Would make sense to add a 4 in there, so new playstation consumers will clearly know it's the most current version.
...one more thing, for the entertainment features on xbox, their owners will pay extra for it, even some with lower level Live subscriptions. They found another way to poke peoples wallets for things that are free on PS3.
You said what I was thinking. More trash talk... the main thing I dislike about the MS marketing team. They have this uncontrollable urge to talk the talk, but not walk it. Always skewing the message to mislead people into thinking their so much better than Sony and Apple. "Better with Kinect"... yea ok then... -__-
Good move for Sony to try a new company. They waited too long, but... With the right marketing, you could sell a 10 dollar bill for 100. Look at MS... "better with kinect"... Really? Yet how many more kinect/360s have sold because people actually believe it. Hope the new agency does much better job.
I wonder if they'll integrate a really thin slide out keyboard/remote underneath. Guess it depends if they market it as a home entertainment hub, or if they'll target gamers more. Lets just hope they don't add anything that makes them $80-100 bucks each.
So many people jumping on this band-wagon about the non-horror in DS3. Well, no one has played the whole game yet, so there could be serious creepy, dark moody sections. Marketing could mainly show action and co-op in trailers to draw in more gamers that aren't typically into horror. The demo felt just like previous DS sections. Don't forget, ever since the first one there was plenty of action.
What's going on with the management, and decision makers at Capcom? Seems like every week their in the headlines for making the most ridiculous business moves known to man kind. They seriously need to clean house, and get some capable professionals in there.
My concern is an excellent list of "amazing" games, that don't require unnecessary gimmicks to play, seamless integration for Vita, a refined controller, and A+ multi-player/network/communication features. Sprinkle some magic dust on the PSN store and system interface, and we're good. Doesn't matter who goes first. Just make sure you bring the best to the table.
@craigun Your not the only one. Vibration feedback for action games especially is necessary. There should be no complaints as long as the people who don't want it can turn it off in the settings. They've already been down that road though, so I think we're safe.
Don't overhaul it, but make slight improvements like: give the plastic a matt finish with slight texture, or a slightly more substantial grip, and the mushy R2/L2 triggers could use some improvement. They could even do something to make it look "just a bit" more sleek. Perfect example iPhone 4 compared to iPhone 5. Those improvements were under the hood mostly, and functional.
So they should keep the core in place, enhance what already works well, with minimal cosmetic updates. Better materials would be a bonus, but likely more expensive.
Oh man, I don't have a good feeling about how this is going. So far, it feels like a corny action movie with bad writing. I'm hopeful that it will turn out to be much better in the end. So much potential... new I.P., looks good, not another FPS, possible complex story, cool female lead character. Come on devs please don't mess this up!
Hard to say wether Sony made the right call or not since we don't know what the game was about. Either way it's unsettling to hear Vita titles from such creative studios being cancelled.
@Squiggle55 That would be great. They've already demonstrated it's possible with the 1 hour full game demos for PS+ subscribers. Just think if they opened it up for most games, and all triple-A titles. For example, 99 cents = 1 hour instant play, $2-3 for 24 hour rental, and if you buy full game, all that you spent on the rentals for that game get credited to the final price. I'd be all over that.
Monetary discounts on next game purchase, and DLC, in game unlockables items like costumes, etc. for silver, gold, and plat trophies. Give players cool rewards for gaining trophies, and that will make them worth more than bragging rights... which is not a big deal like companies think.
@IAmNotWill Yep, $200 system, and $250 bundles would def help. Don't get me started with that whole memory card mess though. No excuse more those prices... NONE.
@Squiggle55 Agree with what your saying. At the same time, a big problem is that on the flip side, great games push hardware sales. That means that devs and companies have to make some upfront investment to help the situation too. Spend money to make it.
Yes they have good games, and hardware, but it's not a good idea to rest easy. Continue making great exclusive titles. Its good they finally have the system set an ideal price too. The only thing holding them back is lack of online gaming functionality that is comparable to xbox. Fill that hole and things could really pickup for them.
Would rather have it working, than running slow full of glitches. Still, Sony needs to get their act together. Don't announce something, if it clearly not ready to launch. With so many problems, I question if they really tested it enough.
