Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying a PS5 'Slim'?

Ashina

I already have a PS5 so there's no reason for me to get this new model but even if I still don't own one, I'd still get the Fat model. Not that I hate the slimmer design, I just have a history of owning the OG PS console designs since the PS1 era

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's World Is Starting to Sound Absolutely Massive

Ashina

@Darklaw Not as restricted as FFXV lol. Traversal in Elden Ring allows you to jump/climb cliffs fairly easily (though you could die in most cases if you jump off on the wrong cliff lol), same with BoTW, ToTK, Pokemon SV, Genshin Impact, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla. pretty much most open-world games with similar settings. FFXV's open world just feels limited due to lack of how you can traverse its world despite having a large map. The only limitations in those games I mentioned are the boundaries at the end of their maps.

Re: Jim Ryan Retires as PlayStation Boss in March 2024

Ashina

Very unlikely but whoever becomes the next CEO, please fix your Japanese market and try to bring back Japan Studios if you can. I'm still mad for it being shut down. I still want a new Gravity Rush game, possible sequel to Blooodborne and a new Ape Escape game

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's World Is Starting to Sound Absolutely Massive

Ashina

@Darklaw We're just talking video games here, lol. Obviously I'm not gonna go to places where I shouldn't be IRL. BotW/ToTK lets you explore almost anywhere with how you can traverse vertically. Any recent Assassins' Creed game, Genshin, even Pokémon SV lets you do it. Point being, with how big the map of FFXV, the traversal really feels restrictive in terms of exploration compared to most open-world games

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's World Is Starting to Sound Absolutely Massive

Ashina

Really excited for this but I have concerns considering most open-world games being empty. This was my problem with FFXV's map being large and all but it feels so empty and exploration is very limited before you hit a wall. Though FF7 Rebirth's map looks more traversable compared to FFXV (and you can even swim). I really hope there's something more to explore but otherwise, I'm excited for this just for the fact that it's FF7

Re: Preview: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail Dev Has Quietly Become a PS5, PS4 Powerhouse

Ashina

Can't blame those who are turned off by these kind of game's gacha mechanics. My personal experience with Genshin is that it least it feels the least scummy when it comes to gacha. You can play the game without paying for anything and still be fine (sure you can pull every now every now and then with their free Primogems that you can collect from time to time). Though this is one of those live-service games that you had to be there from the start or otherwise, you'd be overwhelmed by the story contents and events.

Re: FromSoftware Still Can't Get the Frame Rate Right in Armored Core 6, PS5 Analysis Shows

Ashina

Played the game from start to finish and the framerate dip wasn't that big deal for me. While I prefer smoother framerates nowadays, the dip in framerate for this game wasn't all that bad and most of the time, barely noticeable.

Then again, I guess I'm just used to 30fps and some framerate dipping considering I also play on Switch and some older consoles. Also Bloodborne in 30fps still looks great and cinematic imo.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023?

Ashina

Little Nightmares 3 was a welcoming surprise. Granblue Fantasy Relink finally getting a release date. Was expecting ZZZ to have a PS5 announcement (but I feel it's only a matter of time) and was really hoping to get an actual release date for Honkai Star Rail. Crimon Desert looks interesting but still needs some PS5 details

Re: Genshin Impact Boss Remembers the Backlash Which Prompted Irate Breath of the Wild Fans to Smash Their PS4s in Protest

Ashina

Both games are amazing and while GI did took some inspiration from BoTW, the overall gameplay experience differs from each other.

BoTW is an open-world game that has more sense of freedom and adventure whereas GI is more about combat and story progression for every region you visit (and gatcha mechanics, sure)

As stated by others, BoTW also took inspiration from other open-world so I don't see what's wrong with GI taking some inspirations from it. Meanwhile, Souls game have been copied dozens of times and nobody is batting an eye ( not that there's anything wrong with it. Plus, Nioh is awesome)

Re: Fans Vote Clive the Second Best Final Fantasy Protagonist

Ashina

Not surprised about the results. As I've said in that poll, Clive deserves it since he's a great character and more than just your broodish type.

Though, my money still went to Zidane for his charisma and influence on others.

As for Tidus and Vaan, yeah, technically, it's not their journey but the game is told in their perspective. Yuna and Ashe are the supposed main protagonist. The only difference is that Tidus has some relevance to the plot of FFX while Vaan serves only as the player's perspective on what's happening in FFXII's story (but that's not to say that he hasn't grown as a character)

Re: Poll: Who's the Best Final Fantasy Protagonist?

Ashina

Woah, look at Clive soaring high. He deserves it! Cloud is to be expected. I want to vote for him but I think he's well beloved enough so I gave it to Zidane. Also, that 1% who voted for Vaan, I just want to let you know, you have my support. 👍

Re: Poll: Who's the Best Final Fantasy Protagonist?

Ashina

@ApostateMage That scene between him and Ashe is one of the best moments in XII as it really shows you how much Vaan has grown at that point.

@ShogunRok well, it IS his "story" as Tidus would put it so I'm giving him a pass on that.

Re: Poll: Who's the Best Final Fantasy Protagonist?

Ashina

I know Terra is the 1st character we play in VI but really, anyone in the game can be considered as a main character. The game lets you choose who you want to be the main character.

Also, Yuna is technically the main character in FFX and not Tidus.

That aside, I say Zidane got my vote and is my personal favorite next to Cloud. He's such a charming and optimistic character to the point that he has an effect to those around him and in return, they helped him in his dark moment.

Cloud is also my favorite because of his complex personality. I've come to love Clive as well. Someone who was hell bent in revenge to someone who wanted to save the world. He's far from the broodish archtype protagonist.

@ApostateMage I don't care what others say about Vaan but I really like him. He doesn't contribute much in terms of story but that's not to say that he hasn't grown as a character.

Re: Reaction: What Happens to PlayStation if Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard?

Ashina

Probably the only IP here I care about is Crash Bandicoot (but I still incorporate that IP more with the PS brand even though it's already owned by Activision out of nostalgia). CoD will probably keep releasing in PS consoles for a long while but we'll probably see the day that Crash is now an Xbox mascot. On another note, maybe we'll finally see Crash joining Smash if Banjo & Kazooie and Steve were allowed to join

Re: Microsoft Beats US Regulator FTC in Activision Blizzard Buyout Battle

Ashina

@HonestHick Let's not pretend that neither MS nor Nintendo does the same practice. Sony is being painted evil for this because as you said, they share the majority of the console market but all parties have done exclusivity deals several times.

Good on you if you own all 3 (not that I was asking) but my point is that both Sony and MS could end up owning all major companies in the future, locking all games in their own ecosystem and that's a future I'm not looking forward to.

I've already stated this in several articles in this site but I don't want for Sony to buy out Square Enix like many are suggesting since that will end any games coming out to Nintendo consoles. You can say the same for MS, while I don't care for anything ABK (nothing in their game libraries particularly interest me), I'm sure a lot of PS owners are dreading the news now. I get that MS is trying to grow their own market, good on them but what's stopping them from buying another major game company just so they could "grow" their share again? What's stopping them from taking away another franchise from their competitors?

You can celebrate this if you want but I doubt you'll be celebrating the moment MS or Sony owns all major franchises. Oh, right, you own all three consoles and have no horse in this race so I guess this won't bother you.
