In term of game announcements, would prefer they focus on games we can expect to arrive before next years' showcase, with a reasonably solid release date.

It is worth considering the likely consequences of "success" for GP, measured in MS's terms (the absurd target mentioned in the story above), not in fleeting consumer value.

Their objective is always to snuff out competition entirely. One need only look where they have achieved this to see what a raw deal for consumer this is.

With so much pessimism and consolidation in the industry, it is refreshing to see a new publisher, especially with new IP.

In their response, nvidia say that developers retain full control. So they are throwing Capcom under the bus for turning their own art into AI slop with nvidia's tool?

This game is under such scrutiny that obviously Something Wrong will be found with it eventually. There will be great rejoicing on the Internet, for at last it may be pigeonholed.

Once that is out of the way the rest of us can then discover if it is to our liking or not

I played and enjoyed it long after release, if there were any bugs I don't recall them. Experiences like this validates a patient approach in my eyes. Buying on release or pre-ordering(!) seems a bold choice.

As for Ubisoft, they should reflect that their current troubles stem from disrespecting their own IP. I hope they get back on their feet, their place in the industry should not be left void.

Pretty much every Xbox initiative gets heralded as The Way The Industry Is Going. Meanwhile, previous talking points are sidelined or abandoned.

Getting deeper into Red Dead Redemption 2...

Trying to get the perfect animal pelts I need for a bit of crafting. Trying to be a Good Man (whenever someone is looking). Not being particularly successful at either.

Things are tough out here in the dyin' West.

The setting and atmosphere are what carried the first game for me. The DLC which abandoned it for a bunch of caves really suffered as a result.

Still, being prepared to change things with a creative purpose should always be encouraged, so I am prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I know little about the game, but I hate the way EA entangled Bioware in their revenue-first, Minimum Viable Product shenanigans.

I blame them for Bioware's decline.

I was one of those tempted by sub £300 prices. It might be the cheapest playstation I have ever bought in real terms, never mind inflation. PS1 and PS2 were both around £300. PS3 slim was somewhat over £300. I think my PS4pro was more like £400. PS5 at £290 looks a great deal.

Where did the price in £ come from? I can't see it on the Sony blog page linked.

Looking forward to it. I played STALKER what seems a lifetime ago and remember its unique atmosphere - I hope that hasn't been lost.

It also provided some of the best FPS/horror set pieces I have ever experienced. More in a similar vein would be welcome.

I don't like games-as-service, or indeed online games generally. However, I can accept others have different tastes and so am fine with their existence.

The large-scale bungling of their chosen strategy gives me major pause for thought about the direction they are taking.

We keep being told how expensive games are becoming to make. Management indulging in delusional bandwagon-jumping is considerably more difficult to swallow as an excuse to for higher prices than spiraling production costs.

Started strong but tended to drag. I wasn't there for the awards, but if I was I would have been annoyed at the perfunctory manner in which many were treated.

In an ideal world publishers would read the market better and fill the various sectors with appropriate numbers of games. Instead they engage in wishful thinking and bandwagon-jumping, and attempt to force consumer tastes towards where they perceive profits.

Sony is far from getting everything right, but i think that their fundamental strategy is sound. It is telling that it has been the more stable in terms of their hardware and service offering.

The "corner the market and then dictate terms" strategy is classic MS. It is heartening to see the market tell them to re-assess.

I have heard claims that now their aim is to be the largest publisher. I am sceptical - MS don't tend to play on other people's lawns.
