Xbox Console Exclusive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Sneaks onto PS5 This Year, with PS5 Pro Improvements 1

Intense military shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will shed its Xbox console exclusivity and launch on the PS5 later this year.

A new teaser trailer, rendered in-engine, shows a group of troops huddled around a console, before confirming that the game is coming to Sony’s system.

According to the press materials, there’ll be full support for the DualSense controller for “deeper player immersion”, as well as “further technical enhancements for the PS5 Pro”.

Leaked documents earlier in the generation revealed that the first-person shooter would only be a timed Xbox Series X|S exclusive for three months, but the title launched in bad shape and required many patches and updates to fix its bugs.

Subsequently, developer GSC Game World said as late as last year that there were “no current plans” to bring the project to Sony’s platform. Obviously it’s now had the best part of a year to iterate and improve upon the experience, so PS5 players will get the best possible version.

Those aforementioned bugs caused the game to get a fairly mixed reception at launch, registering a 73 on Metacritic. Many felt there was a good experience at its core, but it was far too sloppily executed to fully recommend. Here’s hoping the PS5 edition drops in better shape.

Is this a game you’ve been waiting for, though? Are you down for some dark and gritty Eastern European action? Let us know in the comments section below.
