Yet another PS5 firmware update has been pushed live by Sony, making the current firmware version 26.01-12.70.00. If you're looking for any substantial feature additions or tweaks, though, this isn't the update for you.
The PS5 firmware update will be distributed to consoles worldwide in stages, and here's the single patch note attached to it:
- We've improved system software performance and stability.
As the update is being rolled out gradually, there's a chance you won't pull the PS5 firmware patch. You should still receive it in the coming days, though.
Compared to the previous PS5 firmware update that arrived late last month, this is a minor one. Stability updates have become something of a meme on PS5, and Sony has hit us with another one. At least your system should run better having downloaded it!

Now nothing can topple over my system. Thanks Sony.
When my console shut off twice unexpectedly on launch day I was jonesing for some stability updates
@Gaia093 all these updates have set it in concrete at this point 👍🏻
I'm feeling Uber-stable right now.
Without reading the articel... stability?
I've had a PS5 since launch day, and a Pro since launch day.
In that time, the console itself has never crashed.
To the best of my knowledge, I’ve only ever had one single game crash, and that was Silent Hill 2 when I was nearing completion in the final hotel section a couple of days ago.
Pretty solid, so I have no idea what stability issues they are constantly tweaking!
Stops all the Jailbreaking lol
Weirdly the one thing that did seem to create a recurrent system software errors for me was plugging in my external hard drive with all my PS4 games on it. Since I stopped using it, its fine. Perhaps my hard drive, but works no problem in my PS4.
It's alright making the console stable, but if the game you're playing has a bug causing it to crash, then it's gonna crash no matter how stable the console is.
I'm stable again - well at least Sony says I am.
