Re: Celebrating 30 Years of Lara Croft at Derby's Tomb Raider Exhibit

@Glassneedles

I'm certain you are correct. Without looking up the shot from Fawlty Towers (what would be the fun in that?) I think it's simply the composition of the photo, the angle, the white sign out front, and just sort of the "atmosphere" for lack of a better word that made me think of it.

but yeah I think Fawlty Towers was a white building for starters. πŸ˜…

anyhoo, thanks for playing! I'll use any excuse to bring up FT to be honest πŸ˜‚βœŒοΈ

@EfYI @LordOfTurnips

I was echoing some other comments on here in an attempt to lampoon them, and kind of dryly show how ridiculous their perspective is right on its face.

anyway. mission accomplished I guess, lol.

literally, a review of any product is a personal opinion vs an MSRP. what on earth else could it be? πŸ˜‚

I'll add a "/s" or something next time ✌️

Re: Acclaimed PS5 RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Surpasses Another Big Sales Milestone

"Acclaimed PS5 RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Surpasses Another Big Sales Milestone"

calling it an "acclaimed PS5 RPG" when it came out for multiple platforms and was never a console exclusive is misleading to your own readers, and journalistically dishonest.

to be fair, Nintendolife does the same thing constantly so I'm assuming this is a conscious decision that exists somewhere in the Hookshot style sheet.

ps - I played the first game on Steam and it's wonderful! clearly worthy of it's accolades πŸ‘πŸ‘

Re: Sony May Mitigate Hardware Pricing Nightmare by Simply Selling Fewer PS5s

-wc-

@Matroska

thanks for pointing this out! I thought about going there but since it obviously doesnt apply here, I chose not to muddy my message with it.

HOWEVER I do think for example that there are people who buy those stupid elite controllers just because they are more expensive than already expensive normal controllers that all the n00bs are using, just because they are expensive (and called "elite" πŸ˜‚)

I'm still kind of SMH over the idea that selling fewer consoles is a strategy for navigating higher costs πŸ«¨πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« I mean thats kinda hilarious if you think about it.

"I know! we'll just sell FEWER units!"

"Johnson, that's why we brought you onto the team!"

Re: Mina the Hollower (PS5) - Masterpiece for Many, But Not for Me

-wc-

@SerraAngel

I completely relate!

Here's my 2 strategies: I play on default settings, and if I find the difficulty too hard, I turn it down to easy.

OR

if it's an arcade game, I put the game on easiest setting, max lives, etc etc, and see if I can 1 credit clear. if I can't, I leave it there until I get better. πŸ‘

"How dare a reviewer, not fall to their knee, and endlessly shower a game with glory."

yeah but you should at least enjoy the genre of game going in to really have a qualified opinion, right?

I'm not going to ask a person who doesnt like cheeseburgers where the best cheeseburger places are in town.

@Accipitridae

"It’s like criticising a Forza game because β€œnot everyone is into cars”."

yes, exactly! It's an extremely passive way for the writer to complain about an aspect of the game, without having to own the opinion.

like when they say "people are saying..." on certain news broadcasts, when it is clear that the speaker or organization intends to simply promote one possible perspective over the others.

Re: GTA-Like Action Game Samson Is Coming to PS5, But We're Much Less Excited Now

-wc-

β€œThe launch has gone a bit so-so. The game suffered from way too many bugs and a lack of polish."

Passive voice, as though bugs and lack of polish are unfortunate things that 'happened to' the game for no reason.

"We’re correcting it almost daily now. The reception is starting to become more positive."

Isn't reception a 'first impressions' kind of thing? Can reception change over time? πŸ€” I think your game gets the reception it gets, and then "perception" or just opinions might change over time.

"For us, it was just a must to get the game out. But any game released in this day and age is a success."

ANY game is a success just for being released, even if people are buying it and hating it? I really don't think so.

Re: Code Violet (PS5) - Gooner Shooter Can't Get It Up

-wc-

"Spoilers for a couple of thirty-year-old movies there."

why do writers continue to employ this "feigned, fake spoiler" trope? is it supposed to be funny? i dont get it.

why not just make it a real spoiler alert? you could use the same exact sarcasm and everything, just before the segment in question rather than after it.

PSA: there were people born every day in the last 30 years that havent seen Jurassic park, or whatever other "common" media you want to think of. ✌️

Re: Konami 'Forgiven' for Dropping Metal Gear Solid Voice Lead in Fifth Game

-wc-

"Having voiced Snake for 12 years, it was Keifer Sutherland that Konami decided to cast as Venom Snake in both Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and the main game The Phantom Pain."

who is the subject of this sentence? did Kiefer Sutherland voice snake for the prior 12 years? did Konami?

PS - I know it's an aging article but if NLife is gonna keep linking to it, people (like me) are gonna keep reading it ✌️

"Nintendo Fans Are Desperate to Know How Close Switch 2 Will Get to PS4's Power"

source?

"The question everyone's asking"

the writer desperately wishes to beg the question, but no one seems to be asking it but them. at least based on the evidence presented in this article.

Normally I'd just ignore this entire site but this one got crossposted and it's so dumb I had to comment (literally, the only time ive seen this question raised on Nintendolife is this crosspost. "desperate" lol.)

happy new year πŸ––
