As always with these things, the round up will always end up massive even though fans will say there was no content at all.
Give us a few hours to write everything up. 🙏
Maneater 2 was the highlight for me.
Wow, almost no new announcements whatsoever, mostly mere reminders of games we already knew were coming. Even Gamescom was better…
So you're just not going to mention Rhapsody in Scarlet at all?
Another Crimson Desert update? I just started. Great to see more of the Lego Playstation too, Wolverine is looking better and better, and I avoid puzzle games to preserve my sanity but Uncanyon looks really intriguing, it's a big maybe.
No highlights for me. I came into it hungry and they served me tofu.
@Enuo As is stated every single time, we're still writing articles and this round up page will be updated with those links.
I don’t think there’s been a single one of these shows that didn’t have at least 5 games/expansions I was interested in. Still eating well, IMO!
@get2sammyb Fans will quite rightly say there was practically no new content, just a bunch of trailers for stuff we already knew about. That's fine and all, but it doesn't result in a particularly exciting State of Play. They could have just released these trailers individually, I don't see what was gained by grouping them together.
No Astro Bot or Media Molecule then?
Just a list of things that I’m not particularly interested in, and even if I was, they aren’t available to buy and play anyway. /shrug
Wake me up when you actually have something to sell me?
Not bad, really not interested in any of the big hitters, and October will be Hellraiser, Castlevania and Mina! Maneater 2 and a couple of those indies, especially Keeper, might pick it up today! It's nice having something Shiny and New! Hard to find time for other stuff when Splatoon Raiders exists....
Rhapsody in Scarlet is the highlight for me. 1920 New York with jazz, mafia, and magic looks pretty fresh. I think Konami have a potential with this game.
But there are others that catch my eyes like Uncanyon, Rev Noir, Daba: Land of Water Scar, Slash Zero, and Where the Seeds Fall.
Absolutely worthless again. The previous SOP before Sony murdered discs, was actually quite good. Embarrassing. 🤦♂️
metro 2029
until dawn 2
final fantasy revelation
If Intergalactic was being made by anyone else other than Naughty Dog it would have been branded the next Duke Nukem Forever by now.
I am desperate to know just how much money they have spent on this piece of vapourware so far.
Only Metro 2039 and GT7 peaked my interest.
Altho gotta say the Lego PS1 looks better than expected.
@get2sammyb personally, even 2 games is quite a lot for me, so I can say I was left content with this SoP 😂, a safe 7/10
Another disappointing waste of time and attention. I'm not boycotting anything, but my PS5 has been off for months out of plain disinterest.
@Ooccoo_Jr It's busywork for Playstation. Middle managers in Marketing etc. can point to the view counts in their performance reviews.
I knew Intergalactic wasn't going to be there after ND's Instagram when they said "when we're ready." Quite why others thought different I don't know.
@AdamNovice It’s not an SOP without wild expectations and subsequent crash-outs
@EVIL-C maybe you’re upset over the “murder” and now have a biased opinion? I mean, none of this interest me either. But the disc thing has nothing to do with it so it’s not worth mentioning.
People who are complaining that they showed nothing are the same people who would complain if they showed literally nothing.
Genuinely the worst show of the year so far. Should've been an email.
Several Asian games caught my eye in there. Rhapsody in Scarlet looked fun and CONQ's naval battles could be great - love the necromancy powers too.
I liked the Revelation gameplay as well. The open world, free exploration structure is probably a good choice given how what's left of the original FF7 gameplay plays out. Also really wanted to see the reimagined Wutai so I'm glad that got some focus. Oh, and as usual, Yuffie will never leave my battle team.
The amount of games on offer at the moment isn't really a problem. However, it was kind of impressive to see them plough on with the huge physical elephant still in the room. I don't think I've ever seen such a popular brand tank so badly in such a short space of time.
@Old-Red Oh behave, the brand hasn’t tanked at all. Go over to PureXbox and look at their website interactions, the numbers are incomparable from just one site.
Then there’s the sales, of which PlayStation is still selling far more than Xbox.
If you think PlayStation has tanked, what in the world would say Xbox is? None existent?
To you, because you’re online here a lot, and submerged in the news websites, Sony has taken a knock.
Take yourself into any workplace, club, pub, and just ask the average PlayStation gamer and many don’t even know the news of no discs from 2028 has even been announced.
A brand that’s only second best to Nintendo, isn’t tanked. Tanked is SEGA and their Dreamcast, that tanked, Wii U tanked. Xbox is even doing better than Wii U and Dreamcast put together and we still consider it mostly put out the back to be shot.
I think a little perspective is needed. Stores in the UK stopped selling physical discs to the mainstream because the mainstream stopped buying them as much.
The majority of PlayStation gamers, not the minority on PushSquare, and the majority of stores in the Western World have moved on.
It’s time for you to do the same.
@AdamNovice "When its ready"
Lol. As I said, Duke Nukem Forever used that exact same excuse word for word.
Required Business Obligations Livestream
@LifeGirl it’s actually kinda satisfying seeing DNF slander in the big 26, good to know history won’t be forgotten xD
@Artois2 Y’all really hate when people don’t like things that you like, huh?
Dragon ball Xenoverse 3?
@LifeGirl Except Naughty Dog are on a different planet compared to Gearbox. I'd trust them to deliver over those lot.
Final Fantasy Resonance demo... downloading on S2 hahaha
I'm almost afraid to say I thought it was a really good show haha
I feel like Playstation fans are really conditioned to expect big photorealistic games, and everything that fails to meet that expectation comes with a lot of criticism (And somehow, when they do present that, there is still disappointment).
The games would overall be much more appreciated in a Nintendo showcase.
Even if there is negativity, I do think it's good for Sony to start showing different genres and artstyles more often, to break the mold of what gaming can be, we've seen how unsustainable it is to demand too many high value games and overlook everything else this generation
Did anyone else notice a game about halfway through the show that they described that sounded a lot like Fortnite - online build your team and your character stuff? It went by pretty quick so I missed the name. Might be “Stupid Never Dies” b/c I don’t recall seeing that name in the show.
Very possibly the worst SoP ever from my perspective. Other than a welcome announcement of maneater 2, there was nothing else of interest to me.
Granted it was very much tailored to genres I have zero interest in and i'm sure for people In to those things, there was probably some big things there but from my point of view it was a colossal waste of time.
Horrible show overall. They showed mainly updates on Japanese games when they literally had a Japanese SOP following the regular one. Make it make sense. 🙄
Absolute terrible state of play i dont why sony even bothered i mean there good games but not anything we dont know about was all a bit pointless really sony really are turning people against them now
Pretty meh tbh
Removed - unconstructive feedback
@AdamNovice I still haven’t gotten over how Gearbox botched the PC port of James Bond Nightfire. How on Earth did they take a good console FPS, and make it by far and away the worst version of the game. Hell, the GBA port of Nightfire is better than the PC release.
@Smackosynthesis Agreed. Rhapsody in Scarlet was a pleasant surprise. One good reveal doesn’t make a presentation, but I’ve also seen livestreams where nothing of any interest at all is revealed.
You forgot Where the Seeds Fall.
So a fair pizzlets as Marquette was good enough, not great.
Metro 2039? Why release date here? Not Gamescom? 4A's marketing team are stupid on that one.
Ok tactics game maybe. Ok action games. Bland Indies in other bland dedign, trend, fair artstyte bland gameplay thats a snoozefest. Further bland orher IPs from studuos that are easily forgettable.
Not a lot from these thats interesting.
Sure orher big IPs I respect but don't care for. Otherwise a whole lot of nothing in this as usual.
Another 2/10.
Future Games not seen thay showing but probably just as bad as prior years.
Greedfall 2 had such bad marketing 2 or 3 years ago and well that studio paid the price. Spiders were a good team but messed up a lot over time.
My question is, can I have GTA6, GT7 and Skull & Bones on my tiny 500gb drive at the same time? If not, I have a problem. 3 playable games is already not enough, this console generation absolutely sucks if 3 games is the variety we have to endure. Stick a disk in, load it up. Work out how to do it quicker Sony, if you haven't already.
I find it funny how some people are complaining about a lack of games. Meanwhile i’m here thinking, that out of all the platforms, Playstation gamers are eating pretty damn well.
We obviously get all the major third party bangers like GTA6, Control 2, RE9, Crimson, 007 etc. A lot of these games dont even make it to the Switch.
We’re also getting Xbox games, on top of the Playstation exclusives like Wolverine, Saros, Ghost of Yotei, Until Dawn 2, God of War Laufey and Intergalactic.
And then you get console exclusives like Marvel Tokon, Kena 2, Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill Townfall, Phantom Blade 0 on top of that.
I mean sure, PC has the most games, but lets be honest, a lot of that is indies. Most if the AAA games that are actually worth playing have long been ported to PS already. And we’re getting GTA6, which still isnt even announced for PC.
I really dont understand why Playstation gamers are complaining about a lack games, when the dinner table is this lavish 🤤
Fate/Extra release date was the highlight for me! Been waiting on that one for a while, I think the whole Switch era actually?
@logicstrikesagain i think it’s more that most of it is not the interesting leapfrog from other generations, so it all lumps together into one big pile of ‘game reveal’. Creativity is a little out the door, difficult for developers to take risks because of the high development prices, development takes ages so we’re seeing trailers for the same game for long stretches of time and thus surprises aren’t there often anymore.
@Ooccoo_Jr Don’r criticise, just consume
@AdamNovice Intergalactic is still years ahead. While you didn’t expect it, I have seen many hoping at least for new trailer.
And some details on what it will be..
As you said they are surely on different planet. I sense strong woke in that game already looking at what they showed. And that’s their planet indeed.
The Eminence in Shadow and Final Fantasy games appeal. Everything else is just DLC or dour looking.
@Gaymer90 I think the problem was that there weren't any first-party game announcements. Even something like Concrete Genie would have been nice.
But overall I strongly agree with @logicstrikesagain
I already have way more games I could play in a lifetime. So anything that piques my interest is a plus.
@get2sammyb may I just say how much we appreciate all the work that you do? I know it may sound silly, but I'm incredibly grateful.
I think the problem is that PS almost stopped communicating with us, so when a SoP comes around you expect them to have something worthwhile to say.
When the SoP is a total nothing burger that could have been an email like yesterday, people are quite rightly dissapointed
Didn't even realise state of play was on on... I haven't missed one in years... Shows how much Fs I give about PS these days... Apparently it could of been an email anyway.
I think 3 games seemed a bit interesting from all that. Oh dear.. Sony really gave been MIA this gen. And they will probably want a grand entry point into next gen? Where you no longer even have the right to your games not being remotely deleted by Sony.
This whole thing was way too long an ad for a Lego set…
It also a bit disappointing of a set. Think all console Lego sets released so far came with a game model too. This one has no games… sure, the PS1 is mostly known for third party games but still!!!
@Ganon821 Castlevania forgot about that one.
@get2sammyb But what grand reveal did Sony have i see nothing from their own studio's. What big announcement besides some DLC and publishing is there they have nothing from their own studio's but Wolverine another hero thing. No Shadow of the Colossus kind of thing they have nothing. No Destiny 3 I wonder when Bungie is killed off a how much write off will that be.
