Horizon Forbidden West may also be available on the PS4, but it’s still one of the PS5’s most graphically impressive games. There’s just no doubt about it.
Now the Guerrilla console exclusive has been patched to support the system’s new low power mode, making it one of a few titles to actually support the feature.
Sony added this functionality late last year as a means to meet its net-zero goals. But some think it could be a Trojan horse for its rumoured handheld, allowing it to quietly optimise its software for a lower spec, ahead of the device’s release.
The patch is rolling out now and it’s unclear yet how it’ll cut power consumption, but generally we’ve seen games that take advantage of the feature reduce resolutions and frame rates to hit their targets.
We’re not entirely sure who is taking advantage of this feature; obviously we’re all for saving electricity, but reducing performance in return for marginal energy gains strikes us as odd.
Either way, the feature’s there if you want to take advantage of it, and now supports one of the PS5’s very best looking games.
