Publisher Capcom appears to confirm that Resident Evil Requiem won't be receiving a pre-launch demo.
For many of the previous games in the series, Capcom has released some form of playable demo ahead of release, allowing fans to take the latest survival horror title for a spin.
Even going as far back as Resident Evil 6, the company has kept up a streak of demos for the franchise, but it seems Requiem might be breaking the combo.
Speaking during an interview with Stevivor, producer Masato Kumazawa is asked whether one is coming for the next title.

"So, in terms of a demo play, we actually have no plan for one [for the general public] at the stage," he says. "None at all. We just want to focus on finishing off the game. Our development team is just doing its best to make sure that it’s creating the best quality game; to make sure that it’s a fine product."
It would be a shame to see no public demo for Requiem, again because Capcom has previously been so consistent with them in the past.
Requiem is scheduled for release on 27th February 2026, so it's only a few months away, which isn't all that long to wait in the grand scheme of things.
Still, we imagine fans were expecting, or at least hoping, for a playable demo of some kind before launch to get a taste of the upcoming game.
We suppose plans can change, and a demo may appear, but we wouldn't hold our breath.

What Capcom should have done is release the demo straight after the summer game fest, but no, only the "privileged" got to play the demo. Will also say the prompotion for RE9 hasn't been great (I still have it on preorder), keep in mind we have had 7 frames of combat shown and that's it...
@Oram77 agree, you would think they would release a demo to the majority of people who will actually possibly be buying their game.
So a demo will drop during or after Game Awards then.
If it's 93% action heavy with hardly any survival horror scares like Village then I'll just wait till the end of 2026 for a huge sale and then get on it
Do we really need a demo for a Resident Evil game? At this point, you should know about these games.
I will amost surely buy the game anyway, so the lack of demo is not too bad for me. But if they don't confirm an official VR mode for PSVR2 soon, I will find it truly disapointing, at worst some months following the official game release like RE4 remake. In that case, I won't touch the game before the VR mode release.
It's Resident Evil... They're sold on name alone by this point, usually warranted too.
@Beerheadgamer82 i hope it’s HORROR is on same level with 7. Village is boring and less scary to me.
I could see a surprise demo drop during the Game Awards after a new trailer.
@Dman10 The demo for RE7 was extremely popular and was talked about just as much as PT was, so there is power in a good demo.
Hmm, what a shame. I'll have to skip this one and wait for a big sale, them. Asking 340 bucks with no demo is too much for me
@amatmulisha same here 7 was great scary fun throughout. The only best part of village was the doll house but sadly that's barely less than 3 or 4% of the entire game. Who knows tho Requiem might have loads of scary tense scares yet. Huge RE fan here still and can't wait to see what they do with the Zero and Code Veronica remakes
@Beerheadgamer82 not gonna lie. The doll house especially those baby part is freak me out lol. But still can’t beat the scariest of 7. Sigh! that game give me a heart attack 😂
Im so excited for the Code Veronica remakes.
I won't be pre-ordering then as I will wait for technical analysis - which means it won't get the chance of "it has fps drops but I can tolerate them" that might result from a demo.
Huge L after all of the RE demos theyve given
@Americansamurai1 it’s the 9th resident evil game it really doesn’t need a demo.
@Beerheadgamer82 where did you see a demo video where it showed at least 50% of action. Because all I saw was horror
@windxtravelerx you want to wait for a big sale because you couldn’t get a freebie I understand also this is the 9th resident evil game you know how it’s going to play out
I was expecting this to try out both PS5 and Switch 2 versions. They were indeed so consistent with demos for years, come on Capcom!
@Moj500 I was originally on about if Requiem ends up like Village full of samey filler action with rarely any actual scary horror then it's not a day one for me personally. The quite scary Requiem gameplay footage we've seen with that tall big footed monster could just be an extremely small slice of the entirety of Requiem
2 had an amazing “demo disc” on PS1 (loved racing the timer to see as much as I could).
Streak of demos actually go back to 5 though, which definitely had a demo on 360.
Really enjoyed Kitchen Resident Evil 7 demo being a small prologue of sorts with a few endings.
I’m going to buy Requiem anyway, so no demo doesn’t make a difference, but I’m sure for some they would like to try before they buy.
@Beerheadgamer82 resident evil is meant to be action it’s a zombie game. You should stick to silent hill if your that type
I don't need a demo... I never play a DEMO.
Also, Resident Evil games are a must buy in my book.
They’re only saying there won’t be a pre-launch demo. I’m sure it’ll get one shortly after the game’s release.
@Moj500 I'm not gonna spend 340 bucks in a game in any situation, Resident Evil is no exception, unless i could play a demo to see if the game would click with me. And no, every new RE game is quite different than the last one. RE 6 isn't the same as RE7 which isn't the same as RE2/3 Remake which isn't the same as RE Village. No matter what game is, i won't give my money to any company that easily
It's RE, there's no need for a demo when we already know exactly how it plays.
@Moj500 RE was made on survival horror when ammo can be low surviving every corner and planning roots to sometimes save on ammo and health which ramped up the tension within itself and all the variation in enemy types and with the occasional puzzle. Something RE5, RE6 and RE8 lacks which actually started with the no scares actiony RE4, they're just no scares nonsense over the top checkpoint after checkpoint wave after wave action of mostly the same non scary enemies. Just my opinion on the RE mainline is all
@windxtravelerx where in the world is this game costing 350 bucks. You sir are something else. You lost your argument
@Moj500 lol do you think North America or Europe is the whole world or something? Do you think the whole world operates with just one currency? Ever heard of Brazil? Yeah, i live there and there this game is costing 340 reais, our currency. It's 10 bucks cheaper than i thought, which doesn't change anything, it's still expensive for most brazilians
I didn't lose anything. All you had to do was to take look at my profile to see where i live. Next time do some research about pricing in other countries and stop thinking that everyone who comes here to post are from 1st world countries
You'll go to my ignore list for your rude and shallow response, btw. You earned this one
@windxtravelerx ok let’s say there’s a collectors edition costing 340 usd why would you opt for the expensive version and then complain about the game. It doesn’t make sense you would opt for the cheaper Version. You sir are very confusing
The first 15 minutes of the game will exactly like 15 minutes smack dab in the middle of the game
@Moj500 It was an overbuilt straw man
No problem. Still have yet to touch 7 and Village somehow lol
@Oram77 They better not stitch us up, I'm sure it's going to be superb but the witch from the demo didn't look that terrifying. In fact it looked like part of the Del Toro produced film Something In The Dark or Things to be afraid of can't remember the title.
Bad sign..especially from Capcom
