Re: Game of the Year: Best Supported PS4 Game of 2019

No mention of Destiny 2 despite straddling two different periods of support? Pre and post September content saw a dramatic shift in terms of how the paid content was supported but all the free seasonal events were fun (Revelry, Dawning, Halloween, etc)

Re: Game of the Decade: Destiny Paved the Way for Games as a Service

As someone who has ploughed around 5000 hours into Destiny (1 and 2) I can honestly say that this game changed my relationship to gaming more generally. I became less interested in other titles if they failed to have the recurring loop mechanic that this game has. The community, the team building, the challenges, the loot grind, everything ... I love it so much. I think I may have a Destiny problem

Re: Activision Talks Destiny 2 at Its Latest Financial Briefing

@TIEMs I agree with some of this but the following:

5: auto-grouping for raids would be awful. You even been in a strike with bozos who go awol when you need support? This is why raids need commitment. Even when you have people who are invested in the raid they can still vary in skill. Auto-grouping would lead to casualisation and greater frustration. You don't need to spend hours watching videos: most encounters take about 5-7 minutes (multiplied by 3 or 5 depending on raid) - its not a massive one-off commitment, especially when many of us tried them blind on release! With 5.5: you can spectate on a raid: there's live broadcasting and Twitch. Not quite what you mean but theres people out there that have already made all the content you would want.

7: Golden Gun is awesome in PvP! Nothing better than chaining exploding bullets around a heavy weapon crate (other than maybe blade dancing through the crowd, ha). Also, it has its uses on Solar burn strikes.

8: you mean bounties or quests? You can abandon the latter and go back to them via the kiosk. There's way more bounty slots now than ever before.

13: This already exists (void armour: Increased armour when using a Void-based sub-class). And the increased throwing distance on grenades is also a very useful perk (thinking of the shorter range Warlock Scatter grenade here). Being able to throw that far is a real perk

Re: Video: How Small Is the Rumoured PS4 Slim?

I'm not sure about the need for this. I'm kinda interested in the PSVR unit but it looks hella bulky. I'm also interested in the 4K model. What I'd really like is to see the 4K model have the same physical footprint as the original PS4 but not need the bulky VR box...

Re: Soapbox: You Shouldn't Feel Bad for Liking Destiny

@RPE83 I've pumped 1600+ hours into Destiny. I've bought it twice for two different PS4s (wish I'd bought it digitally in the first instance). Have to say I love the game and, yes, it had its teething problems but it's a great shooter mechanically and they've defiantly improved the loot mechanics. Looking forwards to the update and hoping for a 60fps experience in the next product launch

Re: New Documentary Will Depict How PlayStation Conquered the World

@TomKongPhooey With respect, I believe this is disingenuous comparison. Apples and oranges. Backers of this project will be helping to fund a talented set of documentarists who blend archive footage with original material to offer a novel take on common knowledge. Take a look at their doc on the Amiga for a unique account of the rise of hat machine (much of which info was in the public domain already).
