Re: The Monster Hunter Movie Looks Exactly Like the Monster Hunter You Know and Love

jonny_aces

Loving the sarcasm?! 😂😂 in all seriousness though, Anderson is so hit and miss with his films. Hopefully it's more Resident Evil (guilty pleasure) than Resident Evil: Final Chapter (less said the better). I mean I get his concept a group of soldiers pulled out of our world into the Monster Hunter world. It can work and aslong as this is only the first 5 to 10 mins of the film and it then hits the tone and look of the games (swapping the guns for big ass swords) then it could work. If not then why did he just not make an Evolve adaptation. Army guys vs monsters lol

@get2sammyb how is clumsy controls expertly honed gameplay? Surely when critiquing and scoring a game, you have to do this honestly? Not glazing over a very clumsy experience because you like the rest? What one thing one person may be able to mostly ignore and handle another may have severe trouble with and make said game unplayable. You guys fail to realise you have a direct influence on people's decisions to buy a game or not? And by not giving an honest review score, your failing to live.up to that responsibility right? Also it doesn't help the devs improve their game where it needs improving by giving glossed over scores.

@LN78 I think if we just give to many 10/10 to games when there are actual problems which can be improved upon. Then it's less likely the devs will see the problem and make a great/near perfect game better! If they just see perfect scores flying around they won't be thinking oh right we need to improve the controls. Whilst if they saw alot of 9's (still a great score) they may think right what is it we can improve which will make this game actually perfect. That's my thoughts and what I'm trying to get at. But I'm not in any way detracting from the review which is a good write up or bashing on what seems to be a really great game

@ShogunRok I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I mean end of the day it's all subjective to that person who plays it i suppose, if you deem a game perfect or not.

@TheArt to be fair if one of those questions is based on your handwriting. Then yes you deserve a 9/10 for bad handwriting. Imo.

@ShogunRok sorry but I have to agree with some of the minority here and question the perfect 10 Score. You stated in your response regarding 10 scores the following
"The pinnacle of a given genre at the time of release, these titles raise the bar in virtually all critical categories. You can be sure that a game awarded this score has the highest quality presentation and expertly honed gameplay"

So I ask, is the controls on a game not counted in terms of its own category or adds towards honed gameplay? As from your own review from the dodgy controls it literally pulls you out of the immersion of the game. That to me states it hasn't raised the bar at all with its homed gameplay. Considering that GTAV did/Does the exact same thing with its clumsiness. I accept all OTHER aspects may be perfect. But when something this big pulls you from the immersion and comfortability of playing said game. Then it needs to be judged accordingly. Not given a pass considering the other aspects are great? Well that's my view and I mean no disrespect personally as I thought your review was good.

And that's l will be sticking with my Jonny aces! Had it for over 10 years and still like it. I can also understand it actually messing with leader board scores. If a high score was logged under one name and then you change that name. It may not register!

Re: Feature: Push Square's Ultimate PlayStation Character Has Been Decided

To be fair at this point in time it's the perfect Result. Nate has been carrying the PlayStation icon baton for the past 10 years. And this result with Aloy being the runner up is like a passing of the baton. Once she gets a few more games (asking as they are as solid as the first) then there's no reason she can't be the new icon. Now Nate has officially retired.

Well done @Shogunrok for running it. I'm betting it was a War Of Attrition at times.

Re: Destiny 2 Update 1.2.3 Is a Step in the Right Direction, Out Now on PS4

@Nakatomi_Uk to be fair you've created a situation where Bungie just can't win. Either it's great and as you say, you lose trust with bungie for making it great. Or it's not so great and you will say Bungie failed making a great expansion. I think these kind of comments don't help games or developers at all. The expectations become unrealistic and unobtainable.

Re: Uncharted Fan Film Sparks Digital Series Discussions

Nathan Fillion was great as Nate Drake, Really encapsulating his personality and wise cracks. However the little bit of the action wasn't so great. We really needed a 10 years younger Fillion to play the role perfectly. I would be down for him playing an older Drake recounting his adventures whilst a younger physical actor does the heavy lifting action wise.

Re: Review: Batman: The Enemy Within - Episode Five: Same Stitch (PS4)

@Get2sammyb I think what you and the 3 posters mean is fresh? Walking dead S1 had that new freshness, haven't played anything like this before. Whilst The wolf amongst us and Borderlands still recaptured the magic but didn't have the freshness due to following Walking Dead S1. Both games are as good as if not better but they weren't first! IMO Borderlands is the best Telltale game.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Destiny 2 Down Dramatically Compared to First Game

jonny_aces

Two big factors playing into this IMO. First digital as you say in the article has now taken off and no doubt played massively into this. Secondly the people who were burned by the first and fence sitters are waiting for final reviews before buying. So I think the bigger picture won't play into account until a few weeks after release.

Re: Review: Madden NFL 18 (PS4)

@Anchorsam_9 well I was mainly thinking of getting this due solely of the Longshot mode. But now from your review I may just stick with Madden 17! Even with the god that is Brady on the front cover!
