Random: There's a New Killzone Game, and It's Only on Nintendo Switch 1

If you've been waiting for a new Killzone game to turn up, you're in luck — sort of.

It's true, a game by the name of Killzone Extraction is now available for purchase, but a) it has nothing to do with PlayStation's fan-favourite first-person shooter series, and b) it's only available on Nintendo Switch.

Published by a company called Eathrabaria, Killzone Extraction is, I'm sad to report, a cheap shovelware game that's clearly using the name to get some extra sales.

Here's what it actually looks like:

So yeah, not quite on the same level as Guerrilla's games.

In all seriousness, it's exactly this kind of low-effort software plaguing digital storefronts these days. Nintendo's eShop is certainly no stranger to it, and PS Store has been infested with games like this too.

Mercifully, Sony does seem to be proactively fighting back against the most egregious examples, removing thousands of shovelware games over time.

It gets tricky, because the whole idea is that pretty much anybody can self-publish a game nowadays, which is great, but it's a double-edged sword that leads to rubbish like this.

In the case of Killzone Extraction, it probably doesn't have a huge amount of time before Sony's lawyers catch wind of it and send over a cease-and-desist.

As for when we'll see the proper Killzone come back, well, I wouldn't count on it. Guerrilla seems very committed to Horizon. There's an outside chance Sony could licence it out to a third party studio, I suppose.
