This is great news! I had more or less given up on this.

The PS4 Pro/PS5 is the best console platform to play Syndicate on.

I might be able to retire my PS4 soon.

Nothing here for me this month. Could be better I think.

Of course, it is still vastly better than anything GwG has to offer so I can't be too disappointed.

Overall, I am still pleased with the service.

@FatalBubbles I think that is a pretty fair comment.

Since I started not buying games on release, my gaming spend has dropped dramatically based on how the game market works for most publishers these days. As a result, I also don't get sucked into the new game hype and it saves me from buying some games altogether.

PS+ Extra is a great way for me to play those games that would otherwise be on the bubble for me. However, if I bought all the games I was interested in when they first came out, I probably wouldn't have much to play on the service.

There is nothing terribly exciting for me this month on extra. But I still think it is a pretty good selection.

As for premium, I guess it isn't the worst month we have seen but that doesn't make it good.

Sadly, I continue to think the free demos are the best part of premium.

There is nothing here I need/want but I still think it is a great selection.

I briefly thought that I was going to hear they finally but fixed Syndicate but, alas, it was not to be.

While it is good that the Chronicles titles were fixed, I wish they could get Syndicate working on PS5. I literally keep my PS4 Pro around just for this title.

It seems likely Ubisoft has determined it is not worth the effort.

There is nothing particularly interesting for me this month but there are still good games from prior months I haven't gotten to yet so I am still satisfied overall.

I am firmly in the depends crowd.

For me, it depends on 2 things.
1. The game itself, not all games heavily benefit from 60fps.
2. What the compromises would be. Often 60fps can be obtained with minor compromises such as RT being disabled or minor resolution compromises. However, I don't want to play at 720p to achieve 60fps.

@gavin_is_gavin Me too. $150 would be the most I would pay.

@KidBoruto From the outside, it isn't clear to me who should be responsible for fixing it to be honest.

The game works as-designed on PS4, the platform Ubisoft made it for. It feels like the fact that it doesn't work on PS5 should be Sony's problem as much as Ubisoft's.

Since they seemed to have been working on it and have made other changes to enhance Assassin's Creed games for 60fps I am guessing it turned out to be more investment than they were willing to spend to make it work on PS5.

Either way, it is disappointing.

The chronicles games are no big loss but it is a shame they won't/can't fix Syndicate. Outside of PC, PS4 is the best Syndicate experience. It is one of the reasons I still have a PS4 connected to my TV even though I have a PS5.

I think it too soon to say. It actually sounds pretty great on paper.

Different experiences for different audiences.

It will depend on the details and the execution. For the former, we have no information yet. For the latter, we will have to wait and see.

Sony exists to make as much money for it's shareholders as possible. It isn't a public service.

With the state of supply and demand during the pandemic, they could have launched the console with a price a $700 and they would have sold just as many units. But....they didn't.

If the executives didn't increase prices and simply allowed profits to fall as costs increased they would all lose their jobs. Especially in a market where costs for everything else is increasing.

The PS5 is a luxury item to begin with. Nobody needs one.

I guess that is probably geared more towards collectors than game players. $300 is fairly steep but only a little more than similar collections for other games.

@dancingmind I won't stop buying games. I am probably different than some others in this regard. Since I have a tendency to replay games I am still likely to buy the games I genuinely enjoy.

However, playing it and having it available via PS Plus gives me the freedom to try it and find out if it is worth buying. It also provides the flexibility to wait until the price drops to something I am more comfortable with.

I am surprisingly impressed with PS Plus extra so far. I have been a game pass subscriber for over a year and while there is lots of content, there has been exactly one game I have wanted to play that I didn't already own.

Withe extra, there is already more than one game on the service I am interested in and since the service is new they are adding games to it at a pretty reasonable pace. I don't mind the fact that they are slowly adding games every month.

But, yes, premium is a joke unless you use the streaming side of it.

Sadly, the playable demos seem to be the best feature of the premium tier.

My upgrade to premium cost me $5.88/yr and I am not sure it was worth it.......

To be clear, I don't think that most people are saying that HFW is a bad game. I just think the statement that it is responsible for driving sales or that people prefer that bundle is silly. People are being forced to buy the game whether they want it or not in a bundle because that is how Sony is choosing to sell the PS5 right now. The PS5 sales have nothing to do with HFW, they are selling every unit they can make.

None of that makes a HFW a bad game.

@PSme Two reasons:
1. Console sales right now have nothing to do with demand, both consoles are selling every unit they can make.
2. Is one console selling more than another really something to celebrate?

It is popular because people don't have a choice. Either get the bundle or get nothing.

This is Sony pumping a bit of extra money out of the customer.

I fail to see how this is even a problem. If someone want to buy a bunch of meaningless trophies, let them.

@RSX901 I mean "I don't own it" in the sense that I claimed the PS4 version on PSPlus the same as many others but I don't own the PS5 intergrade version.

This is actually one of the few games on PS Plus Extra that I want to play and don't already own. But I can't......

A decent month for essential
A great month for extra
A terrible month for premium

Even though the additional cost from extra to premium isn't that high, the value is very low.

The fact that it is only an additional $20/yr is an important point but even at that price it doesn't seem to add much value.

It only cost me an extra $50 for almost 9 years so I decided to do it but on paper it seems fairly useless for me. The game trials might be the best part once they actually start appearing for more games.

Even though I already own it, Syndicate getting added and fixed would be quite awesome. +1 for that since the PS4 game is the best console experience available.

I would like to see Watch Dogs Legion since I would like to try it out but not interested enough that I would be willing to pay for it.

@MattBoothDev I wonder if 60fps is possible on Syndicate on PS5 in backwards compatibility mode. I don't think the PS5 backwards compat games have the same access to resources as on Xbox.

@Kang81 I would definitely wait if I were you. It looks so much better on PS than Xbox.

This is really great news because the PS4 version of the game is the best console experience for AC:Syndicate.

Although it is much maligned by many I found this game quite enjoyable.

It may be because I am getting old but I love remakes and quality remasters.

Being able to play an old game with modern graphics and technology is fantastic.

@Milktastrophe I don't understand it either. How is that a deterrent to scalpers?

I suppose it is an interesting option for people who have wanted to try the game without having to buy it. It isn't really a play for the weekend type game though.

On the other hand, I guess that is why Ubisoft is doing it.

Obviously, AC4 is my favorite.

I am not sure that I would call Freedom Cry a full game.

Like others, I think that Unity is a great game today even if it was a train wreck at launch.

I also liked Syndicate quite a lot even though a lot of others didn't.

I replay games quite often. There have been plenty of times I find new things on a subsequent play-through.

This is one of the reasons that subscription-based gaming isn't a great fit for me.

@Nexozi No, I was responding to the comment about AC:Syndicate.

You can run BC games from external storage directly. If your external storage is an SSD, you won't see much performance difference from running on internal storage. If your external storage is HDD, load times will be substantially slower than if you were on the internal.

@danlk1ng - They are not fixed in my testing about a week ago. Still very pronounced in certain situations.

I would say that database still needs some work.

I can't recommend anyone buy a base PS4 in 2021. We are talking about what is essentially a 7 year old piece of technology.

Personally, if you want a PS4 at this point I would be checking out the used market for a PS4 Pro at a good price. Or, ideally, save/wait for the PS5 which is mostly backwards compatible.

The store has become wholly useless to me since the big update a couple of months ago. I stopped trying to use it altogether.

I basically use psprices, make a list of what I want and then manually search for those titles on the ps5.

@Tatarimokke I mean, it certainly isn't a title that will blow you away with next-gen visuals but I don't find it to be worse than Odyssey/Origins.

@Tatarimokke Are you sure you were playing the PS5 version and not the PS4 version using back compat? It seems a lot of people had problems with that.

I started playing it on launch day and quickly decided to wait for some patches

I will get back to it at some point.

@Octane It seems like big AAA games are generally in the 50-120GB range these days. I think we just need to learn to accept it.

The good news is that since it is technically a PS4 game you could run it off external storage if you wanted to.

@ShogunRok Aren't they just saying that isn't the launch-day update? In the same way that the update on launch date probably won't be the same as the update available post-launch after patches start happening?

I recently upgraded mine to an SSD.

I still use it sometimes. Since the PS3 bc is not practical, it is the only way for me to play PS3 games. I also use it for PS2 games although many of those have been made available on other platforms.
