Re: Bungie Conducting 'Thorough Review' After Plagiarised Art Is Found in Marathon

dodgykebaab

@Greifchen Straight up lied? Did you even read the statment? Probably not, although it was posted on Crypto-sky so I can't blame you for that. Here it is again:

“We immediately investigated a concern regarding unauthorised use of artist decals in Marathon and confirmed that a former Bungie artist included these in a texture sheet that was ultimately used in-game.

“This issue was unknown by our existing art team, and we are still reviewing how this oversight occurred. We take matters like this very seriously. We have reached out to 4nt1r34l to discuss this issue and are committed to do right by the artist.

“As a matter of policy, we do not use the work of artists without their permission.

“To prevent similar issues in the future, we are conducting a thorough review of our in-game assets, specifically those done by the former Bungie artist, and implementing stricter checks to document all artist contributions.

“We value the creativity and dedication of all artists who contribute to our games, and we are committed to doing right by them. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.”

There is nothing in there that they didn't follow this person, in fact it's the opposit because they actually name to artist.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Star 'Bootcamp-ing' with Neil Druckmann to Ignore the Haters

@LogicStrikesAgain

Well I think the sonic thing does stand.

I think people are not looking at these female video game characters and activly touching themselves up while they play!

I think they find certain designs unattractive, but really the word should be replusive (even though it sounds harsher). People are being asked to relate to characters they feel repulsed by and that's never going to fly.

The Sonic design was also repulsive. Again not in a sexual way, but in a way that conficted with the video game design they were used to.

@Oram77 I never said I'd give you any.

I think you are getting side tracked here over my point, so let me get you back on track.

I think people are not wrong to voice their opinion over how characters look in a medium where the user is expect to relate to said character.

Edit - I just thought of a movie releated theme that ties in here.

That first Sonic design in the movie. Do you think fans were wrong to call that out?

@themightyant I think your dismissal of peoples concerns is very tone deaf.

It's like you think anyone else's thoughts are not worthy compaired to your own.

Are you Trump?!

But for real, telling people that they are just ***** if they want attractive gaming charactors is not helpful.

I mean would you request ugly characters? If not why not?
If it doesn't matter, why bother with a character model at all? Why not just have a cube?

Yes I have added hyperbole to that, but that's to highlight how silly that argument is.

Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection

" Blu-ray discs PS5 games are printed on have the shortest life expectancy and are only estimated to last around 20 years under ideal conditions."

That doesn't sound right. Lets check the source....

So it's from a Gizmono piece where someone called "Ern Bieman"

And what's his background....

"digital preservationist"

Starting to smell a rat here!

Re: SAG-AFTRA Still 'Frustratingly Far Apart' from Big Game Studios, Publishers on AI Protections

dodgykebaab

@Ainu20 Fair play.

SAG already demanded Streaming Revenue Sharing from places liek Netflix:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/streaming-revenue-sharing-actors-sagaftra-1235559427/

On the SAG-AFTRA they want a sliding scale on "Indie" games, so depending on games sales, they demand more money "Captures runaway project success with secondary payments,":

https://www.sagaftra.org/sag-aftra-unveils-new-video-game-agreement-indie-devs

But this big one which would boost VA's pay over artists and coders is the demand for residual pay, which is profit sharing.

https://www.vulture.com/article/sag-aftra-video-game-strike-authorization-explained.html

"In 2016, SAG-AFTRA went on strike against 11 major video-game studios after failing to reach an agreement over stagnating base pay, health and safety issues related to vocally strenuous performance roles, strict nondisclosure work contracts, and the lack of residual pay within the industry. "

"By the end of the 2016 video-game actors’ strike, many union members expressed discontent with the current agreement, saying the current contract still hosted lackluster health regulations and did not hold the competitive residual pay SAG-AFTRA initially fought for."

Some studios offer a bonus to staff for good opening sales, but not residual payments. VA's on residual on games like GTA would put them well above artist and coder pay levels.

Even games like Monster Hunter and Call Of Duty would do this.

Re: Tekken 8 Boss Katsuhiro Harada Schools Fan Over 'Disrespectful' Response to Anna PS5 DLC

dodgykebaab

I actually feel bad for that person Harada had a go at.

I looked up "Nijisa channel" and they have been making Tekken videos for 8 straight years and have 10000's of views; and quite a few video centred actually on Anna and gameplay & combo tips.

What's worse is that I checked the guys social feed, and all the "examples" Harada gave is just him gas lighting. This "Nijisa channel" person never said any of those things.

This to me just seems like Harada just let rip into a genuine fan of the character and made baseless attacks on them.
